BEST BETS: 16 - 57 / $54.60 (-$59.40)
Race 1
(3) STAR TRACK HANOVER improved with Lasix added while finishing second to a potential killer in Guaranteed. He also draws was inside his main rivals. (10) MISS TRIXTON rolled at Philly last time and Sears picks up the drive. (9) HOLIDAY HANGOVER raced well in his first start of the year and certainly could improve.
Race 2
(4) ELEKTRA KING flashed speed and came up flat in the lane last time. I’m going to give her one more chance in a spot where she shouldn’t have to work very hard to make the front. (6) BACKSEAT TERROR & (5) FOOL ME AGAIN finished second and third ahead of the top pick last week; obvious contenders.
Race 3
(7) SWANCREDIT showed some life last week with a 27 3/5 final quarter. Six-year-old gets class relief here and might just be able to pick up a win for a barn that has struggled this meet. (5) PRINCE OF MINTO just missed in an identical final time to the top pick last week. He’s clearly sharp enough to win. (2) KNIGHTOFVICTORY got the best of #5 last time and outdraws him again; using.
Race 4
(7) POP POP JOE was used early and paid the price for a different barn a week ago. His road to the front should be smoother this time. (4) SHAVING MUG rallied off the pace set by the top pick to get the win last time. He’s obviously in with a chance. (5) IDEAL SON is being sent out by a barn that is 0-17 here since April 1, but he seemed to get along with driver Marcus Miller last time and this stable actually showed improvement last week with two in-the-money finishes. (6) RATHER SWELL reunites with a top catch-driver.
Race 5
(1A) HAVEONEFORME came back from a short vacation and paid immediate dividends. Three-year-old daughter of Kadabra has done very little wrong in her career and while she catches some talented youngsters, she gets them coming off qualifiers. (2) SPECIAL HONOR looked so good in her first qualifier before making a break last week. Maybe hitting the strong winds did her in? I’ll be using her if she offers a double-digit price. (3) BATTENBERG & (4) SPEED TITAN return off a pair of qualifiers and each has some talent.
Race 6
(5) U NEED STONES gets into this race because more than half of his wins came off the card in non-betting races. This looks like a great spot for him to go down the road. (8) ATABOY HANOVER finds a decent condition in his return to the Big M. Hopefully Dunn can find an early seat in mid-pack. (4) WARRAWEE SHIPSHAPE has been racing reasonably well of late.
Race 7
(10) GOLD ORCHID N roared home for the win here two weeks ago. While the outside post presents some issues, she seems more than capable. (6) SELL A BIT N couldn’t make a dent in the stretch last time into a very fast final quarter. If Tetrick can keep her closer maybe she can win. (2) ROCKIN PRALINE has early speed and decent form. I wouldn’t be shocked if she won this race. (9) IDEAL LIFESTYLE A exits the Blue Chip Matchmaker final where she had no shot from post 7; another contender.
Race 8
(8) PARKIN IN HEAVEN gets a free pass into this condition despite consecutive wins including one at this level. She’s far from a lock but seems worth sticking with in her current form. (3) FAMILY ROLL CALL responded to the addition of Gingras last week and he sticks with this one again. (2) GATORS BEN WINNING comes right back after a good outing at Pocono on Tuesday; sharp. (9) SHEZZA GNP N is down in class and deserves consideration on that angle alone.
Race 9
(1) IDEAL CANDIDATE is a legitimate $7,500 claimer who has been racing over his head lately. Reuniting with Dexter Dunn here, 13-year-old has a big shot. (4) JUST N BERLANDER has been popular at the claiming box lately and racing well each week. (5) DAYLYN HORIZON finally got over the hump last week. He’s sharp now.
Race 10
(4) PERSEVERANT tried to go down the road and couldn’t quite get the job done last week; another shot. (6) STEVE SAID came up with a big effort last Saturday and certainly looks tough if he can repeat it here. (9) NAMEISONTHEHALTER has been closing well from tough spots lately; driver change.
Race 11
(1) ANOTHER BREATH was used from post 9 and lacked a closing kick last week. Moving inside could potentially help his cause. (7) DW’S REVENGE wasn’t exactly spectacular last week but kept trying hard to just miss by a neck. Now in his fourth start back there are no excuses. (10) RESITA certainly fits with this group but post 10 won’t help the cause. (8) VEYRON had no shot when the timer said 58 1/5 for the half last week; maybe.
Race 12
(7) CARLY GIRL didn’t fire from an outside post in her first start for the high percentage Nick Surick barn. I’m expecting we’ll see much more here. (3) LIVE ODDS comes off a solid performance. (4) WHISKERSONKITTENS closed well last time and adds Tetrick now.
Race 13
(7) AWESOMENESS drops down in class and picks up Gingras. Whether he’ll awaken is still in question, but he’s certain to be handled aggressively. (9) MAJOR AUTHORITY also takes a step down and Sears joins the team. (6) LIVE ON seems to have lost a step but still remains a threat at this level. (3) ROCK ON PRECIOUS doesn’t look like a win player but can be involved at a price.
