Race 1
(9) QUALITY BUD looked very good winning his last start in the amateur races and I’m hoping for a decent price since he was assigned the outside here. (6) RATHER SWELL comes off a pair of good efforts in these races since the claim and another seems likely. PREPPY ART hasn’t won in a long time but should be a fit with this group for a good amateur driver. (1) CC BIG BOY SAM has early speed and decent form; using underneath.
Race 2
(5) RECLAMATION gets a pass for being run down in the slop at odds of 1-9. With that start under her belt, I’m expecting a big mile, though some rain is in the forecast again. (7) BETTER DECISION N comes in from Dover with spectacular form and put up a career mile last time with Lasix added. (6) KATIE MAE CANCOOK also added Lasix and improved a week ago; considering for exotics.
Race 3
(1) HAVEONEFORME was really rolling home in deep stretch in her comeback qualifier and we can all see how well she did here in February. (8) ASIAGO qualified back nicely and did win a stakes race last year. That said, get ready for an underlay price. (6) SKYWAY KON MAN put the hobbles back on in his latest qualifier and came up with a good mile. These connections know how to handle a trotter.
Race 4
(4) EXS AND OHS hasn’t been doing very well on the smaller oval at Yonkers but was great here a few months back. As long as (7) BIZET doesn’t get away soft on the engine, she has a big shot. The latter has won five of eight and sports a string of good races outside of one break. (6) HAMMER TIME tends to lay back but is very capable of picking up the pieces.
Race 5
(5) DEALER’S TABLE rolls into town undefeated in four career starts and that 1:51 1/5 win at Miami Valley last time is impressive. He lured David Miller off some very intriguing players, including round one winner (4) RESPECT YOUR FLAG. The latter deserves respect but so far has been handled conservatively in 2019 and could need some pace help. (6) WORLD ON EDGE stole the first leg of the Wiggle It Jiggleit last week. It won’t be that easy tonight.
Race 6
(1) AMAZING SEVENS has been racing very well up in Saratoga and comes off a wire to wire win with Lasix added last time. Despite earnings which far exceed his foes in his last 5 starts, this guy gets a nice opportunity to earn versus a mostly dull field. (6) TOO MUCH HANOVER has some early speed, decent form and a win over the track last year. (9) GLENFERRIE DREAMER is probably the best horse in the race if amateur pilot Paul Minore can work out a trip. (4) AVENTURE raced better with Gingras in the bike last time.
Race 7
(4) RESITA took some air and still finished up his mile nicely with Lasix added last time. Maybe the medication if just what he needed to return to form. (1) ANOTHER BREATH gets post and class relief along with a nice driver switch to Gingras; all positives. (6) IF NOT WHY NOT disappointed last time but I’m not tossing him off my tickets just yet. (8) DOUBLE L LINDY finished up very nicely for the win last week but strangely sat in when I thought he would pull uncovered; mixed feelings.
Race 8
(5) ROLLWITHPAPAJOE looked very good in his qualifier but was just ok in his first start of the year. I’m going to chalk the loss up to the off track and expect much more tonight. (3) ACTOR HANOVER looks like the chalk after being used hard from an outside post last time and only losing by two lengths; 0 for 14 record is a concern though. (1) PRINCE OF TIDES qualified back well, but it is hard to know what to make of those Sunshine Meadows miles.
Race 9
(8) ROCK OF CASHEL isn’t the horse he once was but should be able to perk up in this soft spot. (1) THERAPUTIC hasn’t been racing very well at Dover but he was in the top classes down there. (2) FIJI can flash some speed in a spot like this and make some noise.
Race 10
(3) ROCKIN PRALINE was used hard and paid the price last week. In a field without a ton of early speed, she should get away soft enough to have a major say. (4) STELLENBOSCH has been done in by outside posts at Yonkers. This barn won here last week at a short price, so watch the board. (6) BETTOR TRIX N also comes in from across the river and looks like a good fit.
Race 11
(3) FOREVERHILLREIGN burned money as the chalk last week and now will offer much better value. If you though he had a shot last time, I don’t see any reason to jump off the bandwagon after one miscue. (9) GOES DOWN SMOOTH was a tough pill to swallow when he also broke as the even money favorite last time; see above about second chances. (2) WARRIOR ONE was a solid second in his first start of the year and if the top two can’t behave again, this guy is your horse.
Race 12
(4) GOLDBERG returns here as the Delaware champion and doesn’t seem to have any competition. (1) UNION STATION has some early speed in his arsenal and should use it to sit a good trip behind the heavy fave. (6) BRING THE THUNDER raced ok from off the pace last week and could be a player with a step forward.
Race 13
(3) HURRIKANE SHORTY slips into this spot under the AE condition, and that really sucks for the horses that have been thrown into the fire after plenty of losing. Just take the $3.00 win price and move on. (5) GLAMORGAL is capable of popping off a big mile for a barn that is very capable. (2) AMETHYST SEELSTER raced well last time out. (1) TRAFFIC JAM has put in two decent miles since changing barns.
