(1) RING WARRIOR gets a better post to work with this Friday and figures to get a more aggressive steer. Race 2 (4) TROTALOT took care of business as the chalk at Saratoga last time and seems like a good fit in this amateur race. (1) WINDSUN FIREBALL has speed from the inside and one of the better amateur pilots at the helm. (7) KERFUFFLE COOKIE & (3) KEYSTONE THOMAS are down in class but lack form; tough call. Race 3 It is tough to love any of these maidens, though at least most of them are lightly raced enough to improve. I'll take a shot with (6) MYRNA MYRNA, who was stuck in traffic in her qualifier and seemed to have something left in the tank. Perhaps she did some maturing since we last saw her in August. (3) WILD WHISKEY seems like the favorite but has played runner-up four times in six career starts. (9) MEMORY put in a steady mile despite being off the gate in her lone qualifier. She certainly catches the right field to succeed. (7) ATABOY HANOVER was rocky-gaited the entire mile in his last qualifier. I'm avoiding him unless the price is double digits. Race 4 (3) INITTOWINAFORTUNE split foes with a sharp qualifying win last Friday and would have instantly made my horses to watch list if I thought she was going to be written into this condition (N/W last 3 allowed $200). (2) ANALYZE arrives from Yonkers and drops in for a tag to fit the condition. I'm expecting a solid effort for a barn sporting a 13-19 record this meet. (5) VORST should be able to keep her form for another high percentage barn. (7) PENPAL qualified great but seems likely to receive a conservative steer. Race 5 (2) UNCLE LEROY wound up putting up pretty good fractions while doing all the work in a mile where he just missed. The price should improve from the 6-5 and he figures to get away with cheaper fractions this week. (3) APLOMB HANOVER finished well to catch the tiring top choice in his career debut; likely favorite now. (4) ABBIE'S CELTICCLASS did well in her qualifier; price play. (6) PRETTY PHYLLY G reunites with Marohn, who did good things with her in two starts. Race 6 (6) IHOLDON has been on half-mile tracks twice in his career and the result was a break each time, so let's ignore the 2-24 miscue at Freehold. He finished up willingly in his 3-17 qualifier here and seems to be on the right track. (2) DANISH DURANGO has raced much better since coming off Lasix, but I just don't have ultimate confidence in him at this level. (3) LAUDERDALE has back class and moves down the condition ladder this week; maybe. (9) MONTALBANO BI has form on his side if Marohn can overcome the outside draw. Race 7 (2) ABBIJADE HANOVER comes off a nice win at Yonkers and should leave aggressively to work out no worse than a pocket trip; narrow edge. (4) NOT BEFORE EIGHT rallied nicely in her return to the big track and looms a major danger. (6) ICOMMANDMYSPIRIT has big early speed and could steal the race again as she did last time out. (3) SHEEZA SHARK N is better than her last effort. Race 8 (3) SWIFT WARRIOR picked up some confidence while down in class and his 25% career win rate in 99 starts tells me he can string them together. (7) WINDSONG MAGIC never got in play from post 10 at Yonkers in her first start for this barn and on Lasix. Four-year-old is clearly fast enough to beat these but lacks a top catch-driver. (4) MAKERS MASS deserves some respect on the barn change but really wasn't great in his qualifier. (1) OPENING NIGHT tends to do better work at the lower levels nowadays. Race 9 (7) ANGEL'S PRIDE couldn't go with (10) MISS JONES in the recent qualifier, but that was her first start back versus her foes second, plus Angel gets the better post to work with this week and will likely offer better value. The latter has done good work in the morning and figures to be heavily supported at the windows. (4) CONCERTO finished just behind the top choice in her qualifier. She has picked up speed in each of her morning trips and would be no shock here. Race 10 (3) PLAYBOY RUSTY takes a meaningful class drop and gets a post edge on the other logical players. (7) POSSESSED FASHION was an impressive qualifier winner but is hard to love at 1 for his last 19 if the bettors make him odds-on. (6) TAC'S DELIGHT has been doing better of late and looms a major threat. Race 11 (9) CLEAR VIEW HANOVER has beaten much better than the foes she faces tonight throughout her career. If Lachance decides to put the pedal down off the gate, there is no reason she can't win this race. (3) KEYSTONE I WISH changes barns after consecutive wins. She'll be the odds-on chalk and it might be a good idea to box this exacta if you agree with my top pick. (7) VICTORIA MAY N is back down in class and raced well two starts back under similar circumstances. (10) GOINROUNDNCIRCLES has a good recent record in this condition but draws poorly and may be limited to just a minor award. [DRF HARNESS NEWSLETTER: Sign Up for the NEW FREE DRF Harness Newsletter.
