Race 1 – Non-winners 2 races or $20,000 life - **$25K GTD Pick 5**
(8) THE MAGIC OF LIFE held his own in a qualifier versus some foes that would be 1-5 in this field. Maybe new trainer Harmon has worked out the kinks. (4) HAYEK put in a credible effort in his first start since July. He is facing older foes but this isn’t the strongest group. (2) GERARD has done well since the barn change. (3) HAND FULL F has been racing ok of late. As a son of Ready Cash, he should improve as he ages; Gingras drives now.
Race 2 – SBOA 3-Year-Olds Trot Prep
(4) EVIDENT BEAUTY doesn’t have much to race for in this spot with $65,000 on the line next week, but she should win for fun anyway. (9) PRINCESS DEO picked up her game in a hurry for new trainer Noel Daley. Trixton-sired filly has always possessed talent and could wake up in a big way. (5) LUCIUS VORENAS comes to town from Freehold with plenty of form and he has won here in the past.
Race 3 – Non-winners $3,500 in last 5
(5) WHAT CHAPTER visits the basement condition upon arrival from Mohawk and enters a barn that is having a good meet. (4) KEYSTONE SERGEANT faced a much better field last time; using. (10) TECH TITAN is a capable horse from a potentially impossible post. (9) SHIVERED is fast enough to win but those last two lines are tough to ignore.
Race 4 – Non-winners $6,500 in last 5
(5) ZOOMING has missed a few weeks of action, but he’s a classy veteran who should be at home versus this kind. (9) CALL FOR JUSTICE rolled down the road versus cheaper last time and is capable of stringing two wins together. (7) EXPLOSIVE RIDGE gets class and post relief. (1) ARRAKIS should sit close to the pace and get into the exotics.
Race 5 – Non-winners $3,500 in last 5
(1) TRAFFIC JAM is a horse I’ve been chasing on and off since he came back from a break. He had no chance last time from post nine with Lasix added and could show more now. (6) CRACKLIN ROSIE was used too hard upon arrival and paid the price. With a smoother trip she can show much more. (9) ELLA IS AWESOME moves into a live barn and is also down in class. (4) ELEKTRA KING dealt with some traffic last time and set the pace in a fast mile behind a runaway winner two starts back. Don’t count her out here.
Race 6 – Winners 2-4 races or $50,000 life
(1) DEPLORABLE TOM finally put in a clean mile last Friday and just missed a win. With that start under his belt, maybe now we see his best. (3) HL REVADON was bet hard and delivered most recently; clear player. (6) GALIXTON never got into action from post 10 but should be flashing speed now. (5) SKYWAY KON MAN wasn’t exactly great and broke for no reason in his first start for this barn; improves?
Race 7 – Winners 4-7 races or $100,000 life
(8) UNION FORCES has easily handled two overnight fields and this group should be no different. (2) SPECTRE won here in a similar class two starts back and has proven capable of going a big mile at times. (3) FANATIC was a close third behind two nice horses in his recent qualifier. I wouldn’t give up on him yet, though he’ll need a huge performance to beat the top pick. (6) TT’S D-JAY comes to town with great form and tries his luck on the big track.
Race 8 – Preferred - **$50K GTD Pick 4**
(6) SOUTHWIND CHROME faces a solid field but certainly easier than last time. I’m hoping and expecting he’ll be handled aggressively. (5) RICH AND MISERABLE deserves plenty of respect and is a must-use in my book. (4) JL CRUZE figures to show early speed here and would be no surprise. (7) BUEN CAMINO exploded the tote board last time and certainly proves he belongs. (8) MELADY’S MONET is like an ATM in the Open ranks but might be in too tough here.
Race 9 – Trackmaster Rating 77 or less
(7) SWEET LULLABY had no chance from the outside post last time but raced well in her prior start. When last here she faced better. (5) JB’S SHOOTING STAR raced well in her first start off the bench and could show more now. (4) MAJOR MAID has the early speed to make some noise. (3) CLEARLY BETTER scratched out of a better spot last Friday; mixed feelings.
Race 10 – Non-winners $6,500 in last 5
(5) BELIEVE IN ME hasn’t exactly been firing on all cylinders lately but does get serious class relief here. This is a field she is supposed to handle. (4) PONDER THE ODDS is another class-dropper than deserves respect despite to obvious form. (1) GLENFERRIE BRONTE N is the sharpest horse in the field by far. How does he handle the top pair?
Race 11 – Non-winners $15,000 in last 5
Post positions were assigned here and those drawn from 8 to 10 look like clear standouts. Which one wins will likely come down to trip, but I’d give the slight nod to (8) KADABRA QUEEN, who went a huge mile last week with the addition of Lasix. (10) SAY YOU DO and (9) SILVERMASS VOLO should be on your Pick 4 tickets.
Race 12 – Non-winners $3,500 in last 5
(8) MAAJAACKKOBE raced reasonably well from post 10 last time. He’s far from reliable but capable of gunning off the gate and taking a soft field a long way. (7) LIVE ON also has early speed and plenty of class to go with it. (3) HIGHLANDBEACHYCOVE has just one win on the year but could sit patiently and shake free for a big piece. (2) BUNGALOW BILL N returns here with David Miller in the bike; overbet?
Race 13 – $7,500 Claiming
(1) PREPPY ART has won four straight in this class for three different barns. He has a new home this week but that should matter. (5) WALKS OF LIFE has early speed and form but can’t get over the top lately. (3) BIG CC’S ROCK has gone some nice miles in this class rather recently. (4) DAYLYN HORIZON doesn’t win much anymore but does pop up with a good effort at times.
