Meadowlands: Friday 11/1 Analysis

MEET STATS: 52-17-12-10 / $77.60 (-$26.20)
BEST BETS: 4-2-1-0 / $5.40 (-$2.60)
Best Bet: JOE JOE JOE (3rd)
Spot Play: TRAFFIC JAM (4th)
Race 1 - $7,500 Claiming - **$25K GTD Pick 5**
(4) CC BIG BOY SAM has come up with two solid efforts in this class and should be controlling the action here. (2) DAYLYN HORIZON is more than capable of saving ground and surging late at a price. (3) WALKS OF LIFE is a steady performer at the $7,500 claiming level; maybe. (4) VILLAGE JACKSON showed some late life last time.
Race 2 – Preferred
(3) MUSCLE M UP has to prove he has the class to beat this group, but the price should be fair and he certainly has the form. (2) TROLLEY bested weaker last time but is every bit as good as these. (1) CRUZADO DELA NOCHE hasn’t had a very good year. That said, he’s a capable horse, especially in this short field.
Race 3 – Non-winners $3,500 in last 5
We saw a bit of late life last time from (3) JOE JOE JOE, who posted a pair of wins here earlier this year in this class. In a soft field with little form, he should have a big shot. (6) MR CARROTTS was racing well before the break last time. (9) MIKADO BLUE CHIP has early speed in a field that seems to lack that quality; driver change, too.
Race 4 – Non-winners $3,600 in last 5
(6) TRAFFIC JAM was used early and clearly needed a race after missing more than two months of action. Against a suspect group this mare can get sharp in a hurry. (1) WALK ON AIR finally made it around the track without incident last week; maybe it was the switch to the big track. Sweet Lou-sired filly is HIP 1536 in the Harrisburg sale and I’m sure her connections want to put up a nice line pre-sale. (4) VINTAGE BABE has early speed and form but looks more like an underneath horse for me. (3) BACKSTREET TERROR is a capable horse that is off form.
Race 5 – Non-winners $3,500 in last 5
Every horse in this field has made at least one break in their last five starts, so proceed with caution. (2) TWO HIP DIP looks awful on paper but has a history of putting up a big mile here when he faces a field that looks like this one. (6) DONTFORGETMASTER put in a solid mile two starts back. A similar performance would put him right there at the wire. (4) PEMBROKE BADA BING hasn’t made a break in a month, which makes him the most reliable horse in the field.
Race 6 – Trackmaster Rating 77 or less
(7) KAMWOOD LAUGHTER N was used hard early last week and still held on very well. Twelve-year-old likes to win and can’t possibly have a harder time making the front this week. (6) SAINT ALBRAY took advantage of the fast pace and rallied to win last week. She might be overbet off that performance. (2) MAJOR MAID can settle in and get her usual good check. (1) GIVEMEYOURHEART has early speed and figures to put it to good use.
Race 7 – Non-winners 4/6 races or $50,000/$75,000 life
(9) UNION FORCES lays over this field in terms of speed and if you can stomach the poor recent lines in stakes competition, he should be able to beat this bunch. (4) NIGHT HALL won a minor stake last time and seems to be moving in the right direction. (6) ALDEBARANWALKABOUT rallied well upon arrival and could be a player if the top one doesn’t show up. (8) SOME MORE PRINCE was racing well before the scratched-sick line.
Race 8 – Non-winners $20,000 in last 5 - **$50K GTD Pick 4**
(6) PAT MATTERS has been on a roll outside of her one stakes appearance. She draws inside her main competitors and should prove tough. (8) VERY VERY FAST is fast off the gate like the top choice and this veteran should be in good position. (9) LA GRANGE A bested weaker last time; capable of more? (10) MISSLAROSE scored in her second start for this barn. The price should be fair.
Race 9 – Non-winners $6,500 last 5
(4) CALL FOR JUSTICE was overbet on the barn change to Burke after nearly five weeks off and came up dull. Now in start two and at a much better price, maybe he shows more. (6) LUCKY SHEILA sticks in this class off a win due to the Trackmaster AE condition. (2) WAITING ON A WOMAN has plenty of class and does drop a class this week. (8) ZLATAN remains at a winnable level; contender with a trip. (1) SUPER MANNING has been sharp in Amateur races and fits well with this crew.
Race 10 – Trackmaster Rating 79 or less
(3) OHIO LARRY was used up early and paid the price last week. New set of hands at the controls this time could make a difference. (6) TOP OF THE MARK raced reasonably well in his first start for this barn and could show more now. (4) WAVES is a sharp shipper from Plainridge that deserves a look on the track. (10) BIG CC’S ROCK exits claimers. He’s sharp but drew poorly.
Race 11 – Non-winners $10,000 in last 5
(5) THE LAST CHAPTER has missed some time but chasing top trotter Sutton should have him sharp. (8) SAY YOU DO broke after leaving to the front last time, but his prior form is fine and he has a fast win over the track. (6) CREDIT FRAUD steps up off a nice win. (4) CONSUS VICTORY couldn’t handle stakes foes last out. This spot is another test for him.
Race 12 – Trackmaster Rating 74.5 of less
(8) UFFIZI went crazy-fast on the engine in his first start since May. New trainer Cleary should have him ready for more now. (3) MACH UP A raced well off the bench and is another who should improve. (5) IDEAL SON has the early speed to make some noise. (1) MAY I CRUISE WEST gets a driver change.
Race 13 – Trackmaster Rating 77 or less
(7) LIFE WELL LIVED should be plenty tight after chasing Sutton in that qualifier last time. (2) ARRAKIS is down in class and a dangerous commodity. (1) LASA DIDA LADY has been racing fairly well from outside posts. (5) YOU CANT HABIT also moves in a couple of slots on the gate. He could show speed off the gate.
