Meadowlands: Friday 10/25 Analysis

MEET STATS: 39-12-11-7 / $60.60 (-$17.20)
BEST BETS: 3-1-1-0 / $3.20 (-$2.80)
Best Bet: EL DEAL (2nd)
Spot Play: ZLATAN (5th)
Race 1 – Non-winners 4/6 races or $50,000/$75,000 life - $25K GTD Pick 5
(4) AVALONIA moves into a barn that excels with trotters. Three-year-old has missed a month of action, but trainer Ake Svanstedt excels with horses that have missed time. (2) CREDIT FRAUD raced well in her first start since January versus a runaway winner last week. (5) SOME MORE PRINCE has a pair of places in two starts since the meet began. (8) SPECTRE is capable of a big mile and this barn has started the meet off nicely.
Race 2 – Kindergarten Classic 2YO C&G
(4) EL DEAL should head down the road in this spot. (5) ALL RISE also has some early speed. He’s the main threat if the top one falters. (6) ARCLIGHT HANOVER has displayed some ability in cheaper spots and the possibility exists that he could step up here.
Race 3 – Trackmaster Rating 77.35 or less
(2) SUMMER ROCK raced ok in her first start back from vacation and in a new barn. A small step forward makes her a player at a price. (5) I WILL DO IT & (1) GIVEMEYOURHEART are a pair of sharp horses from the Abbatiello barn who have a clear chance. (3) GLENFERRIE BRONTE N has been racing well from off the pace lately and might enjoy the bigger track.
Race 4 – Kindergarten Classic 2YO Fillies
(1) ROCKNIFICENT lands in a soft spot in a field without much early speed and should take charge. (2) SAIL BY has ability and should be sitting close in this short field; main threat. (5) COURTING MARIE is a closing threat as she can sprint home nicely.
Race 5 – Non-winners $6,500 in last 5
(1) ZLATAN is down in class and facing a suspect bunch. This is a spot where he should shine. (8) CALL FOR JUSTICE had to qualify for new trainer Ron Burke since he hadn’t had a clean line since August. After chasing Breeders Crown starter Guardian Angel As nicely in that qualifier, I’m expecting a solid mile. (4) GOLDEN MUSCLE had no shot last time and closed reasonably well. (5) LUCKY SHEILA has the early speed to be a player.
Race 6 – Non-winners $6,500 in last 5
(1) PERCY BLUECHIP battled and drew clear versus cheaper last time out and seems to have found a light group on the class jump. (2) THRILLONTHEBEACH perked up after the barn change and deserves some consideration. (5) HURRIKANE SHORTY and (7) EASY THREE both drop in class and either could show more.
Race 7 – Kindergarten Classic 2YO C&G
(1) CAPTAIN BARBOSSA should be cutting the fractions again here and I don’t expect them to come up too fast. He’s the clear favorite but no lock. (2) CAPTAIN VIDEO qualified well last weekend and perhaps he just didn’t like the surface at the Red Mile. There might be some ability here. (5) FORCE N FURY has been settling for second too often to like on top, but it is hard to toss him out completely.
Race 8 – Non-winners $15,000 in last 5 - $50K GTD Pick 4
(6) MISSLAROSE is better when near the front and she’s certainly quick enough to get the top with an early speed expert like Andy Miller in the bike. (7) FOR A DREAMER is a nice horse who was able to run down a loose leader last time. If they mix it up near the front, he’ll be coming. (3) EXPLOSIVE RIDGE bested easier a week ago and is certainly fast enough to compete while seemingly way up in class. (10) VERY VERY FAST has been racing well but drew poorly here.
Race 9 – Kindergarten Classic 2YO Fillies
(7) SENORITA RITA looked good in victory last time. She faces a good group here and may need to leave around a few to make the top, but I still lean her way. (4) HEAVEN moves to a better post and looks like an upset player. (3) COMMON SENSE S has proven capable of going a big mile and much will depend on her trip. (8) SHE ROCKS KEMP hit her best gear too late last Friday and the post isn’t ideal tonight. She’ll need some pace help.
Race 10 – Non-winners $15,000 in last 5
(6) NEWSDAY raced well from a tough outside post last time and now she gets a driver change to go along with the approved starting slot. (3) SUDDEN CHANGE N has speed and form. She’s certainly a player. (8) RENAISSANCE LADY K drops out of stakes action. Her conditioned races have all been good efforts. (2) BROOKLYN LILACS moves into a better post and could awaken.
Race 11 – Non-winners $6,500 in last 5
(7) PRIMO GIOVANNI has a couple of starts under his belt now for new trainer Nick Surick and displayed strong late life a week ago. Six-year-old could be ready to roll now. (6) ALEPPO HANOVER moves to the big track and could show early speed. (10) GRIFFON HANOVER is down in class and capable of waking up. (5) WILD GOOSE CHASE didn’t fire in his first start for this barn; more now?
Race 12 – Kindergarten Classic 2YO Fillies
(2) HEN PARTY wired a Kindergarten field last week and should have a good chance to do it again in this short six-pack of fillies. (4) LOVE FOR SAIL is another who could be leaving the gate and there is no doubt she can threaten for the top spot. (6) DESTINYS CHILD couldn’t get involved from the outside last time after chasing slow fractions.
Race 13 – Non-winners $3,500 in last 5
(3) MAYFAIR JOHNNY B went a long mile from a tough post last time. Hopefully new driver Vincent Ginsburg will send this guy to the top tonight. (4) CAMPBELLINI was used in the pace battle last week. He’s sharp enough to win. (1) ROUNDTOWN ROCKER returns here at a reduced level and is hard to toss from your tickets. (6) THERAPUTIC is drops down upon arrival and has a chance to wake up.
