Meadowlands: Fourth Dimension rebounds in Valley Victory elim, Springsteen repeats in Governor's Cup elim

Fourth Dimension and driver Brian Sears regained their winning ways on Saturday night, capturing the sole Valley Victory elimination at the Meadowlands in wire-to-wire fashion. The son of Chapter Seven bounced back impressively from a dull Breeders Crown performance with a 1:55 mile with Sears motionless in the stretch.

Fourth Dimension assumed control from the pole position in the early stages, and once Met's Hall made a break on the first turn, the complexion of the race changed dramatically as the other nine horses were assured a spot in the $464,650 final on November 25.

Fourth Dimension seated 65-1 shot Kinda Lucky Lindy in the first turn, then set fractions of 57 and 1:27 before sprinting away from Kinda Lucky Lindy with a 28 flat final panel. Tito, the recent Kindergarten Classic winner, held third after a coverless grind, with Hat Trick Habit fourth.

Owned by Courant Inc, of Delray Beach, Florida, Fourth Dimension returned $5 as the favorite. Now victorious in seven of 10 juvenile starts, Fourth Dimension is trained by Marcus Melander.

With the victory Fourth Dimension will draw within the first six post positions.

Matron champion Springsteen blew away his rivals in capturing the sole $20,000 Governor's Cup elimination for driver Simon Allard in a career-best 1:50 4/5 mile.

Closing Statement jetted out to the early lead with Nutcracker Sweet, while Springsteen took a tuck in fourth prior to the 28 second opening quarter. American History, making his stakes debut and heavily backed at 8-5, floated out on the rim and remained parked for the entire mile. Past the half in 56 seconds, American History was finally able to flush the cover of Springsteen, as Allard moved to get closer to the pace. With the field still crawling, pocket-sitter Nutcracker Sweet vacated that position and provided the winner with a live flow through a tepid 1:24 3/5 three-quarters.

Nutcracker Sweet was able to gain the front in the lane, but Allard angled off cover in midstretch, and Springsteen, a son of Rock N Roll Heaven, was airborne, drawing away from Nutcracker Sweet, who settled for second, with Closing Statement holding on to third. Only Captain Deo will not return for the $411,700 final.

Sent off at 5-2, Springsteen returned $7.60 to win for owners Allard Racing, B. Soulsby, A. Weisenberg and K. Singh. Springsteen won for the third time in 13 career starts, with Mark Harder getting the training credit for the Rene Allard stable.
