Meadowlands: Fashion Schooner victorious in Miss Versatility Series
?q=100)
Fashion Schooner went on a successful speed mission in the $40,000 Miss Versatility Series leg for trotting mares on Saturday night at the Meadowlands, stopping the timer in a life's-best 1:50.
Piloted by Tim Tetrick, last year's Hambletonian Oaks champion put up fractions of 26 3/5, 54 4/5 and 1:22 1/5 after going to the point from post three. She opened up a gap on the others racing to three-quarters and continued to show the way in the lane, though M-M's Dream (David Miller) and Warrawee Xenia (Bob McClure) were charging hard from third and fourth.
Warrawee Xenia and M-M's Dream continued to cut into Fashion Schooner's margin all the way to the wire, but the wire came up just in time for the pace-setter as she defeated Warrawee Xenia by a nostril, with M-M's Dream another nose back in the third position.
