Meadowlands: Brett Miller ties track record with eight wins on the Friday card

Brett Miller drove himself into the record book on Friday night at The Meadowlands when he steered eight winners across the wire first to tie the all-time mark for victories on one program at the New Jersey oval.

The record-equaling win for Miller came with Great Soul in the final race on the card. The 43-year-old practically threw the kitchen sink at Great Soul as he vigorously urged home the now 37-time career winner.

Miller moved into a dead-heat with Mike Lachance, who set the eight-win plateau back on July 14, 1995. Ironically, Lachance celebrated his 66th birthday on Friday.

Miller scored his eight wins with: Pedro’s Dream; Statesman N; K-Lees Shakenbake; City Hall, Somesizesomestyle; Gambler’s Tale; Always A Diamond; Great Soul.

Earlier on the card, a victory by Mister Truth at 98-1 caused a pick five carryover of $25,874 for the track’s next card on Thursday, December 22. The wager begins in race one.
