Meadowlands: Breakfast with the Babies returns Saturday
Some of the highest-priced yearlings from 2021 will take their first steps towards potential stardom at 9AM Saturday morning at The Meadowlands when the track will host Breakfast with the babies. A total of 15 qualifiers will be contested with 10 for 2-year-olds.
One of the standout in terms of pure dollars is Swanky Hanover, a $700,000 Harrisburg purchase owned by Jeffrey and Michael Snyder along with Bruni Racing Team. The full sister to Dan Patch winner Manchego starts from the pole position for driver Dexter Dunn and trainer Marcus Melander, who also has the full sister to standout 3-year-old Joviality S in the Courant homebred Kayleigh S starting from post 2 with Brian Sears at the controls. That grouping goes in race 3.
Race 5 will find Dunn behind the most expensive horse of the morning in the $800,000 Lexington purchase Exile. Bred by Diamond Creek Farm and owned by its racing division along with Brixton Medical, Caviart Farms and trainer Nancy Takter, the daughter of Walner starts from the rail and takes on a group that includes Moni Lisa, a Moni Maker Stable homebred half-sister to Incommunicado ($489K). Yannick Gingras is listed to drive the filly from post 3 for trainer Domenico Cecere.
Rounding out the top three in terms of price tag is the $530,000 Harrisburg buy Oh Well, a Muscle Hill son and the first foal from $643K earner Fine Tuned Lady. Marcus Melander trains and was listed to drive the S R F Stable colt bred by Concord Stud Farm. They start in race 9.
In addition to the babies, Dan Patch winner Allywag Hanover and Governor's Cup winner Early Action are slated for race 11 while William Wellwood victor King Of The North and Breeders Crown winner Rebuff meet up in the 15th and final race on the card.
The Meadowlands will provide pastries and beverages along with programs for all fans in attendance. The races will also be streamed here and an announcer will call the action.
