FALL MEET STATS: 316-97-60-39 / $724.40 (+$92.40) BEST BETS: 24-9-3-3 / $29.40 (-$18.60) SPOT PLAYS: 24-8-3-4 / $44.80 (-$3.20) BEST BET: SUNBURNT SILVERADO (2nd) SPOT PLAY: RIDER HANOVER (6th) Race 1: Trackmaster 68 (NW L2 70.2) or less - Pick 5 (2) ITS ROCKIN RANDY gets major post relief and moves into a new barn. He may be winless on the year but will probably be put in play tonight versus this soft group. (5) COLE ON THE BEACH wasn’t bad last time and paced the fastest mile of the group in terms of their last starts. (3) BIONIC rallied for second behind a runaway winner in his last try. (6) PACK YOUR BAGS comes off a decent try. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: Trackmaster 74.5 (NW L2 76.50) or less (6) SUNBURNT SILVERADO was a bit short while facing tougher foes last time coming off nearly four weeks on the sidelines. He’s clearly the one to beat for me tonight. (3) MAGIC MELVIN was second when last seen here in this class a couple of starts back; early speed likely. (2) NICE GUY EDDIE drops down and draws better; should get into the number. Race 3: Exit 16W for NW $25,000 (NW L2 $30,000) life Final - Survivor 7 (5) LUISA HANOVER is likely going to need to be a bit faster this week but there is no reason she can’t improve in just her second lifetime start. Bartlett showed up to drive her a couple of weeks back and that tells me they think she can win the final. (1) SHE STINGS posted a 27 3/5 third quarter and was able to hang on impressively enough as (3) ABBYS DANCE chased without gaining ground. She’s the one to beat here with the latter a filly that is certainly capable of making noise. Race 4: Trackmaster 71 (NW L2 73.55) or less (2) FASHION FOREVER has turned in some decent miles in TM 71 and this certainly looks like the right spot for him to take charge versus a field without much form. (4) HUNTERS GAL hails from a barn that has sent out nearly double the winners of all the other trainers combined in this field. You have to think Clark will put her in play tonight. (6) POKER PLAY was second in this class last time; certainly useable. Race 5: Exit 16W for Winners 2-4 (NW L2 or 3YO 5) races or $50,000 (NW L2 or 3YO $60,000) life Final - Pick 4 (3) CLEAR FOR LANDING goes for the series sweep on Thursday and you have to like the fact that he shows wins from on and off the pace. He gets the narrow call in a field with a number of potential winners. (7) BOURBONISTA S sat the pocket and pulled clear late with the fastest mile of the series. If she doesn’t find too much traffic on the way to the top, her win chances are big. (6) MESSENGER HANOVER was second behind the top pick most recently; Lasix added! (4) BENNY J raced well upon arrival and certainly merits some consideration. Race 6: Exit 16W for NW $25,000 (NW L2 $30,000) life Final (6) RIDER HANOVER was used to make the front in his Big M debut and I’m not sure you can fault him for coming up second best. He’ll certainly benefit from the mile and should have a big chance at upsetting (4) BIG EGO as he searches for his third straight score. (8) DOCTOR ARROGANTO wasn’t done any favors at the post draw but he rarely misses a chance to finish in the top three. Race 7: Trackmaster 71 (NW L2 73.55) or less - Pick 6 (6) VANGUARD has been racing pretty well of late and while his lack of wins (3 for 58) lifetime is a concern, there are certainly no standouts in here. (8) CANTHAVEME moves into a new barn after being purchased online for $9,000 and picks up the leading driver; improvement possible. (7) CUSTOM FIT is another changing barns; more now? Race 8: Non-winners $5,000 (NW L2 $5,500) in last 5/TM 80.5 (NW L2 82.5) or less (6) ROCK MY UNIVERSE made a costly early mistake last time. If we ignore that break his prior form looks great and he’s back down at the level of his last win. (4) AARDIES PEAK N was super uncovered last Thursday. As always, if he trots he can win. (5) KINGPIN HANOVER owns a pair of seconds in his last pair of tries in NW5000. (3) CHOCO CHARLIE could be worth at least some consideration on the driver change angle. Race 9: $10,000 Claiming - Pick 4 (4) THE WILL TO PLAY is clearly the horse to beat as he’s won three straight. Bumping up in claiming price and switching barns probably won’t be an issue. (6) ILIKEMEBETTOR A strangely drops in for a 10K tag after being bought online for $11,500. Either the connections hate what they got or they are looking to pick up some quick money. (7) DANCING LEW lured Beckwith off #6 after a strong qualifier. The pure speed is there if he is behind his breaking issues. (5) SARGEANT SONNY gets major post relief and could elect to show early speed now. Race 10: Exit 16W for Winners 4-7 (NW L3 or 3YO 8) races or $100,000 life Final (5) A REAL LEGEND and (6) HEY PORTER have traded wins in this series with the horse getting the better trip coming out ahead in each of the first two legs. The former projects to be sitting the pocket behind the latter tonight and with that might have the advantage unless the pace is very soft. (3) TOP MAST raced pretty well last time when pressing the top pick first over upon arrival from Canada. I can see him pulling off the upset with a better trip. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 11: $7,500 Claiming (6) OUR CORELLI N simply wasn’t good enough last time against a higher class of claimers. Veteran drops a notch and keeps Herschberger over a couple of others including (7) BORN TO DANCE. The latter didn’t show much in his first start for this barn but should be helped with the better post. I’m not counting him out just yet. (3) CAMLACHIE CHROME drops in for a tag this week and you have to think they’ll be pulling out all the stops. Race 12: Trackmaster 68 (NW L2 70.2) or less (5) FLYING TIGER couldn’t have hand-picked a much softer spot than this one. Six-year-old couldn’t mount a rally last time in what was a quick mile for the class during the winter months. Can return to form for a barn that has been going well of late. (3) ROCKINWITHTHEBEST gets a barn change and a switch out of amateur races; could improve. (1) BOURBONS COURAGE figures to get more aggressive in this spot and a board finish may be within reach at good odds.
