WINTER MEET STATS: 70-14-14-13 / $79.00 (-$61.00) BEST BETS: 5-0-2-2 / $0.00 (-10.00) SPOT PLAYS: 5-1-1-1 / $5.00 (-$5.00) BEST BET: HEADOVERBOOTS AS (5th) SPOT PLAY: PADUKA N (8th) Race 1: Trackmaster 74 (NW L3/2L5 74.5/75.25) or less - Pick 5 (8) JK WILL POWER put in a nice mile last week in his second start off the bench and even a repeat performance should give this veteran a big chance. (6) CAPTAIN’S REIGN also comes off a good effort and that was after missing four weeks of action. Six-year-old hasn't missed the board in some time. (4) CASINO BAGS ANSO looks bad on paper. That said, his recent starts have all come from poor posts and his last start was his first in more than five weeks. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: Non-winners $3,000 in last 5 or in 2022/TM 76.5 (NW L3/5 77/77.5) or less If you like formless races this is your jam. (8) TANYA'S JOY moves into a new barn as she ships to the east coast and perhaps the new connections can tap into some dormant ability. (4) BROOKROAD MASTER has seen some 'big track' success in the past. (1) BET BIG ON BLUE actually has a win in this class a few starts back. [DRF BETS: Wager on today's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: Trackmaster 74 (NW L3/2L5 74.5/75.25) or less - Survivor 7 (8) MARVALOUS ONE was pretty bad after missing more than two months. Perhaps making starts in consecutive weeks means he's finally healthy and ready to fire a good one. (4) MISS U BIG MIKE rallied well from the back last time. (7) GUYS IN THE BAND has the early speed to make the front and he may not have any company. Race 4: $7,500 Claiming (10) FEHERTY should be able to gun to the front and while he hasn't been going the distance lately, he lucks out because this field doesn't love passing horses. (4) BET THE LIMIT moves into a barn that tends to do well with new acquisitions. (1) ONLYTHETUFFSURVIVE rallied well for second in this class most recently. Race 5: Non-winners 2 (NW L3 3) races or $20,000 (NW L2 $30,000) life/Maidens draw inside (3) HEADOVERBOOTS AS moves into a much easier condition this week and has no excuses for failure. (5) A NEW LEADER has been a much better horse since adding Lasix. (10) MAKIN MAGIC TONITE stayed flat with hobbles added and you can't be upset with her losing by 14 lengths because the mile was a sizzling 1:53 4/5. Race 6: $8,000-$10,000 Claiming Handicap - Pick 6 (5) APPLE VALLEY ART was dropped in for a cheap tag and got plucked immediately. New barn is winless on the meet but more than capable of getting more out of a horse. (7) MONEYORROSES takes a meaningful dip in claiming price. (8) MARCUS SEELSTER comes off a win in this class. Race 7: Non-winners $5,000 (NW L3 $5,500) in last 5/Winners TM 74 or less last start (7) GAME OF CHANGE has been racing reasonably well and now he drops multiple classes; should be very tough. (4) ALWAYS BETTER raced well in his first start for this barn off the bench; more can be expected now. (6) TRUFFLE DOG drops for a winless barn but could still awaken. Race 8: Non-winners $3,000 in last 5 - Pick 4 (4) PADUKA N has been buried in impossible posts at Yonkers and now gets an ideal spot at this oval. I expect a form reversal to be coming. (8) AINTNOBETTOR A and (2) DILLINGER both exit the claiming ranks for the basement condition and either could show more. Race 9: Non-winners $3,000 in last 5/TM 76.5 (NW L3/5 77.15/77.5) or less (4) SUNDAY AFTERNOON dropped to this level last week and raced well from a tough post. He should prove very tough in this spot and could offer value with Ahle driving. Isn't he meant to win considering the time and day? (9) MILADY DENVER A is very sharp and raced very well from the outside last time. (5) BE BEST improved some in his second start back from vacation; more now? [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 10: Winners 1-2 races life/Maidens draw inside (2) THIRD PLAYER seems to be coming along and in many ways got up to mile-track speed last time. Lightly-raced 4-year-old deserves serious consideration in this mostly blank field. (9) C-BET HANOVER and (7) COWBOY COOL have 20 combined wins while the rest of the field has a total of two. Logic would state they have a big shot. Race 11: Non-winners $3,000 in last 5/TM 76.5 (NW L3/5 77/77.55) or less (1) PAULIE WALNUTS has been moving in the right direction in recent weeks and seems to have caught a vulnerable field here. (6) WINNERESS brings plenty of form in from Freehold and now has to prove it can translate to the big track. He's been here before in amateur races and done ok. (9) GOES DOWN SMOOTH is the fastest horse in the race if feeling good. (2) MASSIVE MATTER tends to close well for pieces at this level.
