Meadowlands: Analysis for Saturday 9/5/26

Derick Giwner|Sep 03, 2026
Meadowlands logo 1.5

FALL MEET STATS: 28-12-3-6 / $50.90 (-$5.10)

BEST BETS: 1-0-1-0 / $0.00 (-$2.00)

SPOT PLAYS: 2-1-0-0 / $4.40 (+$0.40)

BEST BET: HUNTINGFORCHROME (11th)

SPOT PLAY: MANSERTIVE (14th)

Race 1: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace - Pick 5

(3) WHAMMER JAMMER gets post relief tonight and lands in a great spot to let the outside speed settle before continuing a move to the front. (6) AMERICAN MERCURY is unlikely to get the trip he had last time but still looms a big threat with a clean journey. (2) ROCK ON LINE always needs pace help and I could make a case that occurs tonight with a number of potential early speed players in the line-up.

Race 2: Trackmaster 74.5 (NW L2 76.50) or less/Opt. $10,000 Clm.

(4) GIUSEPPE C improved with Lasix added. Another small step forward would clearly make him the one to beat versus this soft group and the driver change should ensure value. (1) CHECKMATE HALL picked up some confidence last time and there is no doubt she’ll be firing out from the inside. (2) GO LONG is the fastest horse in the field if he decides to behave this week.

Race 3: Trackmaster 83.5 (NW L2 85.5) or less - Survivor 7

(6) ALWAYS B GIBBY drops back down to the level where he last won by three lengths; early speed expected. (3) BLANK STARE has a win and a third in his last two tries in this condition; draws better tonight. (1) MASTER CHARLES A is getting clear class relief and also making his third start back from vacation. I would be shocked if a strong effort was on tap at good odds.

Race 4: Trackmaster 68 (NW L4 69) or less - Pick 4

(1) SPIRIT OF TRUTH only has one win on the year, but it came in this type of scenario where he drew inside versus a soft field. 14-year-old should fire out and be in good position, likely behind (5) BOURBONS COURAGE, who almost wired the field last week. He’ll be firing out again. (7) TAKARA STING was just even with Lasix added last time but it was his first start in more than three weeks. He could be a decent price play.

Race 5: Non-winners $10,500 (NW L2 $12,500) in last 5 or 8 (NW L2 9) races life/TM 86.5 (NW L2 88.5) or less

(2) MOONSHINER N has been up against it from outside posts versus good fields out of town lately. Down Under import makes his mile track debut tonight and could be one to watch if he drops significant time. (4) AMERICAN SON has been right there each week and only needs a smooth journey to threaten for the top spot. (5) HIRANYA N blew away a group at Philly last time to pick up some confidence. He can play with these on his best.

Race 6: Trackmaster 71 (NW L2 73) or less/Opt. $7,500 Clm. - Pick 5

(7) SHORE OF HIMSELF is very comfortable at this $7,500 claiming level and you have to expect he’ll be put in play. (4) AMERICA’S GUEST got caught in a fast mile at Philly last time. He’s certainly at a winning level and should be aggressive. (2) BLUE COLLAR MAN was used too hard in his last race away from the amateur series. He can get a big piece with a smooth trip.

Race 7: Trackmaster 77.5 (NW L2/2L4 79.5/79.59) or less

(5) GAITWAY PATRIOT is one of few in here that has shown some early speed at times and this field certainly qualifies as soft for the class; edge. (2) KNOCKIN OUT picked up some confidence out of town and I wouldn’t discount the importance of the win. (1) SERGEANT WALT is back at the level of his last victory. He certainly looks like a player but I wouldn’t take a short price since he’s very pace dependent.

Race 8: Trackmaster 80.5 (NW L2 82.5) or less - Pick 6

(6) EUPHORIA N drops back down to the level of his last win and you have to expect he’ll be hustled away from the gate. Worth noting that he dealt with traffic trouble last week and never got clear. (3) CAPTAIN MARVEL returns here for the first time in a few starts and lands in the same class of his most recent victory. (7) BUGABOO LOU moves from the amateur races to this overnight where he picks up the leading driver. Six-year-old hasn’t won much but is fairly sharp now.

Race 9: Open II Handicap

(5) WORLD OF WISHES went a career best mile in his debut for this barn and there is no reason to expect regression tonight. (1) WATER SPORTS TEEN chased home the top pick for second money last weekend. (4) CHRISTOPHER DANCE N was in a tough spot with other leaving to his inside on Sunday at Tioga. He’s sharper than it looks off his last race.

Race 10: $20,000-$25,000 Claiming Handicap - Pick 4

(6) CURBSIDE PICKUP finally lands more towards the middle of the gate and won’t have to work really hard to leave the gate just to get position. Notice his last win came from post five. Beckwith did choose (4) MOVING ON OVER, but he’s been loyal to Engblom. The latter was used hard to make the front and lacked a strong late kick in a solid 1:50 2/5 mile. The road to the front should be fairly easy this time. (9) ROCKNROLL GOLD had a tough trip and kept coming in a sharp mile last Saturday. He’s overcome the outside post in the past.

Race 11: Non-winners $2,500 (NW L2 $3,000) in last 5

(2) HUNTINGFORCHROME has been hunting for a winning spot for some time now and may’ve finally found it tonight. The inside draw and class drop could be the winning formula. (5) ODDS ON BROWARD finds a field that lacks early speed and I wonder if they’ll take a shot here. (10) KEVIN KLINE N takes the same class plunge as the top pick but must find a way to navigate the difficult starting post.

Race 12: Trackmaster 77.5 (NW L2 79.50) or less/Opt. $12,500 Clm. - $3 Pick 3

(1) LOOKATMEGOAMIGO came up a bit short in his debut for this barn, but that could be expected after he missed 32 days of action. Let’s look for a stronger finished tonight. (7) LOVE THIS BAR and (8) CAPTAIN CODE have early speed and good form. Either is capable if they don’t have to work too hard early in the mile. (2) HONOLUGOO righted the ship with a sharp rally last weekend. She can certainly repeat but may not be worth the price at post time.

Race 13: Trackmaster 71 (NW L2 73) or less/Opt. $7,500 Clm. - $5 Late Double

(2) SHOPPIN FOR GUCCI seems to have found her best stride with hobbles added, and now that she has the breaking issue squared away, if she drops some time on the big track a win may not be far behind. (4) SUPERGIRL MOLLY debuts for a new barn off a flat line. Clearly she’s fast enough to win. (1) BACARDI exits the amateur ranks and can certainly improve on the driver change angle.

Race 14: Trackmaster 74.5 (NW L2 76.50) or less

(2) MANSERTIVE makes his second start back after a five-week break, drops in class and gets post relief. The triple-threat of angles will be enough to get him to the winner’s circle even with the owner in the bike tonight (he does have 268 career wins). (6) HASHTAG MONEY also makes his second start back and it is a return from an even longer time on the sidelines. Seven-year-old should be better and hustling hard off the gate. (4) GOIN FOR BROKE shows lines up in Woodbine Mohawk Park that would be more than good enough to win here.
