Meadowlands: Analysis for Saturday 8/15/26

Meadowlands logo 1.5

FINAL CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 429-148-71-42 / $805.30 (-$52.70)

BEST BETS: 29-18-2-2 / $51.20 (-$6.80)

SPOT PLAYS: 30-9-3-6 / $56.20 (-$3.80)

BEST BET: WATER SPORTS TEEN (9th)

SPOT PLAY: COASTLINE (12th)

Race 1: NJ Homegrown 2YO Filly Pace - Pick 5

(5) PERFECT HOPE DEO is down in class and really has no excuse for failure. (3) GLITTERING has been sitting off rather slow fractions and her late rally hasn’t been enough to get close. She should be very competitive tonight. (2) PERFECT KISS is back at a comfortable level but should find the top one too tough to handle.

Race 2: Trackmaster 74.5 (NW L2 76.5) or less/Opt. $10,000 Clm.

(7) ROCK MY UNIVERSE takes a meaningful dip in class as he switches from the NW condition to TM. If he minds his manners this field will have to beat him to win. (9) MISTY BLUE hasn’t raced in 11 months but does get a key barn change following a $26,800 online purchase. They’ve had the horse for two weeks so there was opportunity to make changes and improve. (4) ALL TOO WELL has speed and decent form. He’s 10-for-16 in the money this year.

Race 3: NJ Homegrown 2YO Filly Pace - Survivor 7

(6) WENDY J STINGS was a solid second in the Platinum final last weekend and if she’s put in play again her win chances are large. (3) STERL THE PEARL has done great work close to the lead but found herself away fourth and couldn’t work with new tactics last time; speed coming tonight. (1) ODDS ON GREENBACK hasn’t been able to find the winner’s circle in some decent attempts. I wouldn’t be shocked if she stepped up.

Race 4: Trackmaster 71 (NW L2 73) or less/Opt. $7,500 Clm.

(3) OLLIE’S ZTAM drops in for a much cheaper claiming tag in order to get two levels of class relief. His last visit for a $7,500 claiming price resulted in a win. Early speed likely! (6) AMERICA’S GUEST was handled aggressively in his last start and finished second. Similar tactics and results seem possible. (8) SELECT FRIDAY and (9) MR JOE COOL are more likely exotics candidates than win players. Both have form and should provide fair value.

Race 5: Trackmaster 80.5 (NW L2/L4 82.5/82.9) or less

(6) CAPTAIN MARVEL returns here at a reduced level and now he picks up a catch driver as the owner elects to sit it out. (2) STOP THE SHOTTIN’ has early speed and enough form to perhaps get lucky with the right trip. (4) XPERT tries to climb the ladder for the third straight week. Just 4 years old, maybe he is just getting better.

Race 6: NJ Homegrown 2YO C&G Pace - $50K EST Pick 4

(1) VELVET DITCH gets away from Aintmyfirstro Deo after three straight seconds behind that foe. This is an ideal spot to get his first win. (7) BC’S ODDS ON rallied nicely in his debut at Philly and he could be an interesting player here if he drops time on the big track. (3) WE WANT EAZY finished just behind the top pick a week ago. A similar effort certainly gets him an on-the-board spot.

Race 7: $20,000-$25,000 Claiming Handicap

(4) J M MANDAMIN has won two straight in this class and there is no reason to believe the streak is ending tonight. (2) CAPTAIN UP hasn’t been great lately but does get a trainer change after the claim. He’s worth a flyer at a price. (9) CURBSIDE PICKUP overcomes the outside post week after week to get at least a board spot; hard to completely toss. (6) MIKI RAY raced well here a week ago and now gets a new driver at the helm.

Race 8: Trackmaster 74.5 (NW L2 76.5) or less/TM 74.51-77.5 draw outside - Pick 6

(3) LYONS I WANNA CHIP shipped down from Canada and joined the Engblom barn last start. She promptly won in a faster time than any of these has gone this year (1:52 1/5) despite missing almost five weeks. Logic states she should be even better tonight. (6) PAPI’S CRUSH steps up for the third straight week after consecutive wins. Another 3-year-old in the field that seems to be finding herself. (8) KNOCK TWICE drops in class tonight and is certainly capable of winning. Her form is actually pretty good. (10) TRICKY WICKY won her last try in this condition. That said, it was from a much better post.

Race 9: Non-winners $10,500 (NW L2 $12,500) in last 5 or 8 (NW L2 9) races life/TM 87 (NW L2 89) or less

(3) WATER SPORTS TEEN is one of a few in here dropping in class. This is the type of spot where he usually wings it on the engine and marches down the road. Should provide Down Under import Rixon with a chance to pick up a win while here on vacation. (6) LUSAKA N should be down to big track peed now after chasing in a 1:49 mile last time. He gets the leading driver in the bike now and perhaps he’ll have him in play. (1) AMERICAN SON has talent but was struggling for some reason. He got his act together last time and maybe he can build on it.

Race 10: Trackmaster 77.5 (NW 2L4 79.61) or less/Opt. $12,500 Clm. - $50K EST Pick 4

(2) SMOOCH IN THE DARK is going to be firing out and is one that could offer a decent price given the break last time. (4) A LITTLE KICK added Lasix last time but post 10 didn’t allow us to see whether it helped. There could be good value in a seemingly formless horse that may be ready to turn the corner. (6) GAITWAY PATRIOT dropped to this class last time and wasn’t bad from an outside post; moves in a few slots on the gate.

Race 11: Trackmaster 71 (NW L2 73) or less - $3 Pick 3

(7) MR INSTIGATOR won in this class two starts back and finished second in TM74 last time. It is difficult not to view him as the clear horse to beat. (1) PARODY gave his all in a quick mile for the class last time. This spot is easier. (6) IN SECRET fired out and was a good second in his last try over the track.

Race 12: Trackmaster 74.5 (NW L2 76.5) or less)/Opt. $10,000 Clm. - $5 Double

(7) COASTLINE reeled off a 1:52 1/5 win at Philly in his second qualifier for this barn and if he is ready to roll, as evidenced by the 1:51 3/5 win at Mohawk in June, this field will have a handful to deal with. (2) B SIRIUS should be firing off the gate and in good position. (3) MINETT raced very well at Vernon considering he had missed almost three years of racing. With improvement he can be a factor.

Race 13: Trackmaster 71 (NW L2 73) or less/Opt. $7,500 Clm.

(4) ROCKNROLL CAROLINE has rallied for third in each of her last two tries here and I believe she is sitting on a win. (9) LYONS TRINA never saw the pylons and just kept coming to win her debut for this barn; obvious threat again. (2) SPROUT isn’t a big win threat but does tend to stay close enough to get into the exotics. (3) DRUNK DIAL enters a high percentage barn and despite her low win rate, she could awaken in a hurry.
