CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 179-57-37-23 / $331.80 (-$26.20) BEST BETS: 14-9-1-2 / $35.10 (+7.10) SPOT PLAYS: 13-3-4-1 / $11.00 (-$15.00) BEST BET: JACK'S LEGEND N (7th) SPOT PLAY: ALLYWAG HANOVER (10th) Race 1: Non-winners 2-3 races or $25,000-$30,000 life - Pick 5 (7) ALL ABOUT THE HUNT was a bit hot in his qualifier but raced very well here two back and was super at Vernon. (8) FROZEN HANOVER finished third in the NA Cup behind two of the top 3-year-olds in the sport right now; Pick 5 must-use. (3) CAPTAINGIDDYUPNGO has been mostly steady since returning from break. He'll need to show more to win. (10) UNSUNG HERO gained some press earlier in the year and seems to have come back sharp. While David Miller chose here over my top pick, I'll watch this week. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: Non-winners 2 (NW L3 3) or $22,500 life/Maidens draw inside (6) MONKEY QUEEN won at first asking and faces a very soft field outside of (2) PINK COCO CHANEL, who is fastest but prone to breaking issues. (1) COWBOY CRUSHN is another with a bit of a breaking problem. If she trots her chances are decent in this group. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: $131,250 Six Pack Mares Open Trot - Survivor 7 (1) WHEN DOVESCRY charged home from an impossible spot to get second last time in a full field. This abbreviated group gives Miller more options, thought I'd just as soon see him try an early brush. (4) ATLANTA had everything go her way in the Armbro Flight. If she's the favorite I'd rather be on (2) BELLA BELLINI, who seems to have the best late kick of the group at this point. Race 4: Non-winners $10,500 (NW L2 $11,655) in last 5 or 6 races life/TM 87 or less (1) LOU’S PEARLMAN is one of four dropping out of the Graduate series and he's the only one of the group that hasn't been in an overnight this year. You have to think that trainer Ron Burke will have him sharp looking to pick up a confidence-building win. (3) WHOLE LOTTA LOU has the early speed to make the top and is certainly fast enough to go with these. (9) BILLY CLYDE kept up in a 1:47 1/5 mile last time and would probably be the top choice from a better post. Race 5: Non-winners $10,500 (NW L2 $11,655) in last 5 or 6 races life/TM 87 or less (3) LEON DAVID lures Tetrick this week and is certainly at a comfortable level. (4) ROCKIN ON VENUS and (10) HAIL CHRISTIAN N are both down in class and either could step up and find their form. Race 6: $147,000 Crawford Farms Open Trot - $50K GTD Pick 4 (5) ECURIE D DK wowed everyone with a sparkling 1:49 1/5 win in the Cutler and now returns from a 40-plus day break in action. I'm more worried about a potential first-over trip than the layoff since this barn is great at training up to a race. His best is simply too fast for these. (4) AHUNDREDDOLLARBILL finds a fair amount of early speed to his inside and should be able to capitalize. (1) FORBIDDEN TRADE comes to town sharp for a trainer that does really well when he shows up and this former Hambletonian winner is a proven quantity. Race 7: Inside Harness Final for NW $20,000 in last 5 (2) JACK'S LEGEND N came from the parking lot in a bulky 12-horse field to miss by just a half-length last weekend. Classy 8-year-old is drawn inside now and can do some damage. (1) STONE HANOVER is back inside where his sit and pounce style can be more effective. (5) UNDRTHSOUTHRNSUN N brushed and held last time. A similar effort makes him the horse to beat but don't take a short price. (9) WHITECOOKIE is very sharp and seems very likely to fire off the gate for Burke/Gingras. Race 8: $98,000 Roll With Joe Open Pace - Pick 6 (7) WORKIN ONA MYSTERY does his best work near the lead so the Canadian performance doesn't bother me. Tetrick has to fire out in this spot and if that happens he'll be in prime position to win. (3) ROCKYROAD HANOVER finished in 24 4/5 last week for minor spoils. Getting away from the fastest horse in the division (Bulldog Hanover) can only help, as could fresh Lasix this week. (2) CHARLIE MAY proved gutsy in victory last time and is a clear threat but not worth a bet as the chalk. (1) NICHOLAS BEACH is fast enough to win but demand 5-1 or higher if you like him. Race 9: $143,000 Perfect Sting Mares Open Pace (6) RACINE BELL scratched out of the Roses Are Red and that may have been for the best as she probably needed a few weeks off. The return effort at Yonkers was sharp and she projects to be on the lead or in the pocket at good odds. (8) LYONS SENTINEL simply didn't fire her best in the Roses Are Red. She’s back on her home turf now and is another who could be an overlay on the board. (10) TEST OF FAITH is the one to beat on paper, but do you really trust her at 3-5 from post 10 when she rarely shows early speed and tends to pick the spots when she'll be handled aggressively? (5) GIA'S SURREAL is another with early speed who should be in good position if on her game. Race 10: $99,500 Roll With Joe Open Pace - $50K GTD Pick 4 (7) ALLYWAG HANOVER is another horse coming back to his home turf which could perk up at a better than typical mutuel price. I'm expecting trainer Brett Pelling to have this guy very sharp for this race considering his future stake options are thin; expect speed! (2) BULLDOG HANOVER is the top dog in the division from my perspective but I'm slightly concerned that the 1:47 mile seven days ago may take something out of him. (3) ABUCKABETT HANOVER draws better this week, which should allow him to come away mid-pack and potentially pounce in the lane if the action gets hot up front. Race 11: Winners 4-7 races life In a wide-open field with no clear standout, (2) I DID IT MYWAY gets clear class relief this week and should be a factor. (4) CAVIART CAMDEN is perfect in two overnight starts and that's where he lands this week; Gingras returns to the bike. (5) MARKET BASED made a bad break at Yonkers and should enjoy the switch back to a big track. Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter Race 12: Non-winners $20,000 (NW L3 $22,000) in last 5/TM 92 or less (9) RED RIGHT HAND returns from Kentucky where they insist on making stakes horses race without the Lasix they need. He's back on his medication now and could certainly roll down the road. (1) CASUAL COOL gets out of the second tier and should bring a good effort. (3) MARK WITHA K has proven that he can go a big mile if they set him up. Race 13: TrackMaster Series Final for 77 or less (1) WHAT THE LUCK was done in by a crazy-fast pace last week and still hung around well. He can't possibly get pushed that hard again tonight. (8) AIR GUITAR seems likely to push off the gate and he did post a big mile last time. (7) BELL FAMILY took advantage of a fast pace last time but it certainly wasn't an anomaly as his form is good now. (10) ROCKABILLY CHARM drew poorly but has no issue taking air.
