MEET STATS: 169-57-35-23 / $370.70 (+$32.70) BEST BETS: 12-7-1-2 / $31.00 (+$7.00) SPOT PLAYS: 12-4-2-0 / $36.40 (+$12.40) BEST BET: WINNER’S BET (4th) SPOT PLAY: OH WELL (6th) Race 1: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace - Pick 5 (4) KISSINBYTHEBEACHES can’t seem to stay on the track but has done reasonably well when he makes it there. This field came up very soft and any decent effort should make him a major win player. (1) TONY N ROCK was too close to the kitchen in a hot pace last time and I expect he’ll be firing out here. Win-shy gelding couldn’t ask for a better spot. (2) IN NEVADA N should stick reasonably close tonight and have a chance to shake free for the win if he is feeling good. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: $10,000-$12,500 Claiming Handicap - Survivor 7 (6) CONCUR lands a nice mid-pack post that should provide him with the opportunity for a cover trip. (5) SUNNY AND EIGHTY is certainly worth a look on the driver change to Tetrick. (4) CAPTAIN TERMINATOR wasn’t bad from off the pace last time while chasing slow fractions and won his prior start. I can see him showing speed this time but wouldn’t mind if he didn’t. Race 3: Non-winners $5,000 in last 4 or in 2024/TM 80.5 (NW L2/2L4 81/81.65) or less/NW $14K in 2023-24 (3) SWEETSOUTHRNLASS N was a bit squirrely behind the gate and jumped it off on the tight first turn in her U.S. debut. Mare stretches out to the big track here and that could be just what the doctor ordered for her to succeed versus a field without any clear killers. (2) GENIE HANOVER wasn’t bad with a 26 3/5 kicker last time. Three-year-old seems to be improving. (1) HURRIKANE LADY LOU could fire out from the inside and work out a good trip. She’s hit the board in the majority of her starts this year. Race 4: Graduate Trot - Pick 6 (3) WINNER’S BET equaled a track record last time after sitting just off a good pace. He only figures to improve in start two this year. (6) PONDA JET comes out of the same race as the top pick and he did the heavy lifting in there while finishing second. (5) CHAPERCRAZ raced much better than I expected a week ago and the addition of Lasix could help him. Race 5: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace (1) SAND SNIPER finds a field without too much early speed and should fire out for a good trip here. (5) UNHYNGED SPEED was keeping better company in recent amateur races; should enjoy the class drop. (7) IDEAL FLIP is fresh to this series and worth a look, especially considering he could show early speed. Race 6: Graduate Trot - $50K GTD Pick 4 (3) OH WELL absolutely flew home last Friday in what was a much better performance than his first start of the year. I’m not sure if we see his best this week or in the final, but I’ll take a chance here at 5-2 or better. (5) SPECIAL WAY came up a bit short in her 2024 debut and should only improve with that start under her belt. (2) HASTY BID flashed speed at both ends of the mile in a win last week; clear threat, though likely needs more this week. Race 7: Non-winners 2 (NW L2 3) races/Maidens draw inside (5) CHETAK chased nicely through fast fractions and had some pace at the end of the mile. That was a nice effort for this 4-year-old in just his second career start. (1) MIKI RAY was up against it in the NA Cup. This is clearly a softer spot. (9) PRINCIPLE INTEREST has been finishing nicely but must find a way into the race from the outside post. Race 8: Miss Versatility Trot - Pick 5 (6) WARRAWEE XENIA hasn’t won a race since November 2022 and it is getting harder to think she will turn it around. She has gone some decent miles here, though, and I’m intrigued by her getting a new set of hands at the controls versus a questionable field. (3) HP MAMA B had no shot last time and raced well in her prior try. (2) NELSONBRITEEAGLE NO put in a good mile in her U.S. debut; more now? (5) TIPSY MONI rated a soft half but got the life sapped out of her with a 27 3/5 third quarter. In theory she could get away soft on the front here. Race 9: Non-winners $14,000 (NW L2 $15,400) in last 4 or 9 races life/TM 89.5 (NW L2/2L4 90/90.5) or less (5) MCCRUNCH hasn’t been out in 22 days but hails from a barn that rarely sends them to the track short. Talented 3-year-old should be firing out and figures to sit a cozy pocket behind (6) BINGE ON YANKEE as he preps for the Meadowlands Pace. The latter has been caught twice on the engine and while he could wire this field, he might find the top pick too tough if that one sits the pocket. (4) STONE HANOVER picked up some confidence at Pocono; needs the right trip to get into the exotics. Race 10: Graduate Pace - $50K GTD Pick 4 (2) VOUKEFALAS made two moves and just missed to (4) COACH STEFANOS last weekend. If he comes away here in the pocket as I suspect perhaps he can turn the tables. The latter worked out a great trip and delivered. He has a big shot again but I wouldn’t want a short price. (6) IT’S MY SHOW needs a big showing to make the final in a couple of weeks and I believe we’ll see a big early speed effort here. (3) SEAFIRE comes off a very nice performance and would be no surprise with the right trip. Race 11: Non-winners $7,500 (NW 2L5 $8,250) in last 4/TM 83 (NW L2 84.5) or less (1) PACINO HANOVER gets class and post relief while catching perhaps a slightly below par field for the condition. (7) WHOLE LOTTA LOU will be firing to the front and this certainly looks like a spot where he can take them a very long way. (3) RAU RU is sharp enough to go with these right now given a decent trip. Race 12: Graduate Pace (3) KEN HANOVER basically needs to win if he wants to punch his ticket for the final and I really like the spot he’s drawn into. He has the choice to leave and perhaps sit no worse than a pocket or wait for cover behind Seven Colors. (4) NO CONTROL pulled off a 29-1 upset last time but really was playable on paper. His 1:47 3/5 mile made me a believer as he should be sitting first or second here. (2) SEVEN COLORS was used up in the middle half and faded last time. I expect he’ll be handled slightly easier here, perhaps with a slow first-over grinding trip. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 13: Trackmaster 77 (NW L2/2L4/L8 77.5/78/78.50) or less (6) GEMINI EXPRESS was handled aggressively and battled gamely in defeat last time. I’ll give him another shot. (8) NATIONAL SPORT owns back to back second-place finishes in the class but must figure out the trip moving outside tonight. (3) FERRAGAMO HANOVER is a capable yet erratic horse. Race 14: Trackmaster 71.5 (NW L2/2L4 72/72.5) or less (10) BRINGITONHOMETOME went a decent mile in his debut for this barn despite more than three weeks on the sidelines. Post 10 isn’t ideal but the competition is certainly weak. (6) ROCKABILLY CHARM and (5) HELLO ROCKY are both capable horses with wins over the track this year. Either could be a factor on their best and both are capable of showing early speed.
