CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 161-49-32-27 / $284.40 (-$37.60) BEST BETS: 12-2-5-1 / $6.40 (-17.60) SPOT PLAYS: 12-3-4-2 / $33.40 (+$9.40) BEST BET: GLOBALDOMINATION N (2nd) SPOT PLAY: THE DEVILS OWN N (3rd) Race 1: Miss Versatility Open Mares Trot - Pick 5 (7) MANCHEGO is hard to go against in this spot as she is the best horse and there is ample early speed to set her up. If she wants to make the Miss Versatility final a win here would certainly help since she missed the first two legs. (2) WESLYN QUEST was a solid second in leg two and has been racing very well. Zeron goes to #4 but he's been driving regularly for that barn. (3) FELICITYSHAGWELL S has the early speed to make the top and it really comes down to how much company she'll have in the opening quarter. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: Non-winners $3,500 (NW L3 $3,850) in last 5 (4) GLOBALDOMINATION N raced evenly versus a much better group last week while coming off a three-plus month layoff. The last time he raced at a level close to this here he left the gate hard and was a solid second. Tritton trainee is far and away the one to beat. (3) UNLOADED N is another who should be able to fire to the front if he can avoid his habit of early breaks. (1) ROLLNTHEJOE has been a bit disappointing in this class but should be able to sit close from the cones. Race 3: Non-winners $9,000 (NW L3 $9,900) in last 5 - Survivor 7 (1) THE DEVILS OWN N took some air and held well despite coming back from a long vacation. Seven-year-old was thought to be a stakes horse when he came to town and he should fit nicely with this group on the class drop. (4) SHAKE THAT HOUSE set ambitious fractions and couldn't sustain last time. He could still be building up stamina after returning from an absence. (8) DEALER’S TABLE is a class-dropper for the leading stable at the track; respect. (3) THE GREEK FREAK drops out of stakes action which will certainly get him plenty of pari-mutuel attention. He actually raced well two starts back and was in too tough last time. I'm still taking a wait and see approach. Race 4: $10,000 Claiming (1) DAVID'S COMING HOME dropped in for this claiming price last week and raced reasonably well. Now we get a barn and driver change that could get him over the top. (7) IDEAL SON responded nicely to the claiming price reduction and addition of Tetrick last Friday. (3) PANTHEON HANOVER is another who dropped down the claiming ladder last week, but the outside post at Pocono did him in. Don't be shocked if the veteran wakes up this week picking up the aggressive Gingras in the bike. (5) WESTERN REDHOT disappointed last time; changes barns. Race 5: Non-winners $9,000 (FM $11,001) in last 4 (4) HOCKEY HANOVER takes a meaningful drop in class but more importantly moves towards the inside of the gate. This guy should be rolling off the wings and go a long way. (3) DOUBLE ACCOUNT reunites with Tetrick here and perhaps he can get the best out of him again. (6) GRAND SWAN could be the horse to beat if she shows up with a top effort, but she never looked right in that start at Philly and eventually made a break. Check for equipment changes! Race 6: Non-winners $12,500 in last 5 or 7 races life/Opt. $30,000 Claiming - $50K GTD Pick 4 (2) HARAMBE DEO has gone on quite a roll at Philly and seems ready for the shift back to the Big M. This isn’t an easy spot but his best puts him right with this group. (4) CHASER HANOVER was hopelessly trapped in the pocket last week which means you'll get a short price on Saturday. Honestly, if I owned the horse, a second would be better than first since he'd get to drop in class. (6) IMA REAL LADYS MAN gets some much needed class relief and would be no surprise; using on Pick 4 tickets. (7) SUGARTOWN comes off a career-best mile. Can he possibly do it again versus much, much better? Race 7: $12,500/$17,500 Claiming Handicap Rarely do I place a heavy weight on driver selection, but Simon Allard had four choices in here and he has driven all of them at least once in their last three starts, so he knows the talent he's dealing with in the quartet. Allard chose (10) TJ BLAST despite post 10. This guy moves back into the Quevedo barn where he was a player every week at this level and has the big early speed needed to overcome the poor post. He also exits one of the fastest 15K claiming miles in history. (6) KINGOFTHEJUNGLE adds a catch-driver as he exits the amateur ranks and should be flying off the gate as well. (7) ROJAN’S WAY has been racing fairly well and might be a good addition to your Pick 4 tickets as a closer who could take advantage if the pace is hot. (2) BETTOR NOTBITTER A moves into a new barn and adds Tetrick; usable. (3) BATTLE STRONG enters for a new career-low claiming price and seems likely to come ready to battle. Race 8: Miss Versatility Mares Open Trot - Pick 6 (5) WHEN DOVESCRY absolutely stole the 2nd leg of the Miss Versatility. It won't be that easy here, but she really is in a perfect post to take command again or follow live cover from (4) NEXT LEVEL STUFF. The latter has arguably been the best in this series thus far. The main issue is she is at the mercy of the pace setup because I don't see her being unleashed with early speed so early in the year. (2) SORELLA has been fine thus far and really had no shot at catching the top one after chasing slow fractions on May 29; in with a chance, especially if they remove the shoes. Race 9: Non-winners $17,500 in last 4 or $18,501 in last 5/AE: NW 9 (NW L3 10) races life (5) CHIEF MATE was locked in two starts back and then the victim of a slow pace last time. Yeah, the excuses are mounting up and soon we'll lose faith, but he serves another chance and hopefully will be sent hard by Zeron. (2) TATTOO ARTIST and (6) COVERED BEACH both come out of miles where they were fried through sizzling fractions. Either can compete here with smoother sailing, though I prefer the former. Race 10: Non-winners $17,500 in last 5 or NW 9 races life/NW12500 last 5 draw inside - $50K GTD Pick 4 Despite coming off a break, (8) RICH AND MISERABLE is very capable of firing off the gate here and making the top. In a field without a clear standout, he seems worth rolling the dice on at a price. (1) JL CRUZE hasn't been able to get the job done lately. Perhaps the new set of hands in the bike will wake him up. (5) CHIN CHIN HALL had no real excuse for failure on the engine last time out and I think that will result in off-the-pace tactics here. (4) BOURBON EXPRESS and (3) ONEY HALL are both sharp enough to win with the right trip. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 11: Non-winners $9,000 in last 4 or 5 (NW L2 6) races life Welcome to one of the toughest NW9000 in history. (8) STONEBRIDGE SOUL hasn't advanced from her strong 3-year-old campaign but deserves a bit of a break at least this year having started only twice. Tonight she finds a field that seems to lack many early speed options and Callahan might be able to steal a win. (7) BETTORS HEART N came back here and basically was given no chance to succeed in two starts. Will Sears put her in play tonight or wait for more class relief? (5) TREACHEROUS REIGN hasn’t been able to make headway versus the best older mares in the sport. If she can find her "A" game, watch out! (2) BLUE DIAMOND EYES takes on older but has the speed and class to be involved. Race 12: Preferred (1) ALLYWAG HANOVER has found himself in recent weeks and now merits serious consideration versus these older foes. This might be the last week you get a decent price on him if he wins again. (2) AMERICAN HISTORY is back on the big track where he excels and should bring a solid effort. (3) STARS ALIGN A never seemed comfortable on the half-mile track at Northfield last time. My gut says all will be right on the big track. Race 13: TrackMaster Rating 77-81 (NW L4 82.83) or less/NW $1,300 last 5 (10) TOLLY-HO has been racing very well and I see him firing hard off the gate here. The post hurts so demand at least 3-1. (2) ART SCAPING steps up off a win but the 3-year-old really doesn't face a great group. (7) A BETTOR BEACH might be a bit of an underlay since he won easily last week when everything went his way. Still, he's a player. (9) JUST WAVE GOODBYE rallied for a piece last time and seems likely to be in contention for a lower exotic slot again.
