CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 122-45-20-18 / $237.80 (-$6.20) BEST BETS: 9-7-0-0 / $24.10 (+6.10) SPOT PLAYS: 9-3-2-0 / $21.80 (+$3.80) BEST BET: STORM IS RAGING (2nd) SPOT PLAY: MAD MAX HANOVER (9th) Race 1: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace - Pick 5 (3) WINDSONG JACK had post 10 last time, raced well the start prior and suffered a bad trip three back. This looks like a spot where Beltrami can easily get around the two to his inside and work out a sweet trip. (6) TAKEITTOTHEFACE goes back to his regular pilot and can return to form. (9) HOWTOTRAINURDRAGON changes barns. He has good early speed and a driver that likes to fire off the gate; hmmm. (2) YAYAS HOT SPOT N is certainly capable in this company given a clean trip. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: Non-winners $10,500 in last 4 or in 2023 (6) STORM IS RAGING was beaten up by a field of horses last week who would easily trounce this group. Any decent effort should find this guy taking pictures in front of the grandstand. (2) SWAN IN MOTION has class to him and is versatile. The short field works to his favor in that he can race from on or off the pace. (1) NYLANDER is better one class lower but the short field helps his chances. Race 3: Play Meadowlands Non-winners $5,000 in last 4/TM 80.5 or less - Survivor 7 (4) WHOLE LOTTA LOU was a gutsy winner in leg one of this series and there is no reason to believe he can't repeat. (3) IMAGINARY LINE and (5) BLUE OCEAN both drop out of NW7500 and either is capable of stepping up with a big mile. Race 4: Play Meadowlands $20,000-$25,000 Claiming Handicap (8) GOOD ROCKIN drops his claiming tag to enter this mini-series. He has been facing some serious horses of late and should appreciate the class dip. (6) RAPTORS FLIGHT N is on quite a roll having won four straight while using his early speed to work out perfect trips. If the top one doesn't up his game as expected, this is the one to beat. (3) HUNDIE N returns here for the first time since 2021. Maybe he'll appreciate the big track for a barn that has won four of six races at the meet. Race 5: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace (3) BIG BAD BILL has been closing very well of late and this seems to be a spot with plenty of early speed types to set him up. (1) PREMIER JOY A went a big mile in his debut for this barn despite missing more than three weeks of action. It will be interesting to see how he does on the big track tonight. (7) SHORTYS GIRL has been racing well and only needs a reasonable trip to be a factor. Race 6: Non-winners 3 (NW L3 4) races or $52,500 life - $50K GTD Pick 4 (3) HUNTERS HERO has been first or second in his last five starts with the losses coming to better foes than he faces tonight. (4) GIRLDAD has the early speed to make the front and is certainly fast enough to go with these. (6) MAMBA lured Callahan of #'s 3, 4 and 7, so maybe he knows something we don't. Race 7: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 2 Pace This race could go a number of ways depending on how many of the five or six potential early speed players decide to 'go for it' when the gate closes. (1) THE DOWNTOWN BUS isn't the horse he once was but is certainly facing softer foes this week and has every right to awaken. (6) DUCKIES DYNASTY has put up two solid miles in a row and deserves plenty of respect. (7) ITS SHOWTIME has won his last two in the amateur ranks and Cano tends to give his horses every chance to win. Race 8: Play Meadowlands $20,000-$25,000 Claiming Handicap - Pick 6 (5) BETTER THAN SOME just missed versus the streaking Raptors Flight last week and is very comfortable in these claiming waters. (7) MONGOLIAN HERO N blew away a weaker field last time and now he drops in for a claiming tag; expecting another big mile. (1) A BETTOR BEACH gets away slow but will be picking some of these off late for a nice check. Race 9: Winners 4-7 races or $100,000 (NW L3 $110,000) life (4) MAD MAX HANOVER did his best to keep up last time in a world record mile versus miles better than he tackles tonight. He really should find early speed this week and prove tough. (7) HAZEVILLE has won four straight and certainly will be a factor unless the top one throws in a monster mile. (5) AMERICAN CLASSIC leaves Kentucky and gets Lasix back. That will certainly help. Race 10: Non-winners $20,000 (NW L2 $22,000) in last 4 or $25,521 L5 or 10 races life/TM 92 or less - $50K GTD Pick 4 (4) NATAMERI always seemed to have ability but hasn't really earned as much as I expected. He comes off a sizzling 1:49 1/5 mile at Plainridge and perhaps that's a sign that he's ready to break out. (1) STONEBRIDGE REEF has been like a cash machine this year, finishing first or second 15 times in 20 starts. (2) MIKE'S Z TAM is a classy veteran who should be tighter in his second start off the bench; Callahan’s choice over #4. (5) BURNHAM BOY N was super at one point this year but tailed off at Yonkers. This is the easiest field he has seen at this track in a while. Race 11: Play Meadowlands Non-winners $10,000 (NW L2 $11,000) in last 4/TM 86.5 (NW L2/2L4 87/87.5) or less (4) MARCUS SEELSTER only drops in class a bit on paper but this is a pretty big dip in reality. He'll be looking to wire this field. (3) WHITECOOKIE is another who will certainly be leaving hard. He's got the best chance to upset the top one. (6) PRECISION BLUECHIP exits the same race as the top pick and finished less than a length behind him, so from that angle he deserves a look. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 12: Play Meadowlands Non-winners $10,000 (NW L2 $11,000) in last 4/TM 86.5 (NW L2/2L4 87/87.5) or less (2) P L OZZY is as sharp as they come and he should be sitting close to the action. (3) ROCKIN ON VENUS is also racing well while settling for second recently. (4) CAPTAIN FANCY could be interesting here if #6 leaves and can't clear the top. This guy is a closer that needs a bit of pace to help his cause. Race 13: Non-winners $3,000 in last 4/TM 77.5 (NW L2/2L4 78/78.75) or less (3) PATTYCAKE MOOSS comes to town for a barn that seemingly has done well with these shippers. Qualifiers say this gal is ready. (5) CHILLIN BYTHE POOL rolled versus easier last time but is certainly a threat to string together wins. (1) HEY HEY DBAY gets some major class relief here but is a 5-year-old with her mark on a half-mile track. Does that mean she won't be faster here? (9) P L PORTIA is super sharp but must prove she can step up from an outside post after a string of inside spots.
