CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 28-8-8-1 / $66.00 (+$10.00) BEST BETS: 1-1-0-0 / $2.80 (-$1.20) SPOT PLAYS: 1-0-1-1 / $0.00 (-$4.00) BEST BET: CAPTAIN LUKE (3rd) SPOT PLAY: LUSAKA N (7th) Race 1: Trackmaster 68 (NW L2/L4 69/70) or less Series - Pick 5 (7) SECRET SOCIETY comes off what looks like a subpar qualifier but was facing some decent 3-year-olds in a 1:52 4/5 mile. This race is unlikely to go much past 1:54, if that. Captaintreacherous-sired youngster can make some serious noise versus this basement group. (4) STONE COLD SAVAGE didn’t perform from the outside post most recently but was a winner in his previous two tries in this class; early speed likely. (2) COLT FOURTY ONE just needs a reasonable trip to be an exotics player and maybe more. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: NJ Sire Stakes Platinum div. for 3YO Filly Pacers (1) BE PERFECT BG is perfectly named and undefeated in six career starts. She demolished her foes in round one of this series and would take a ton of beating to fall here. (2) PERFECT THOUGHT was just even in her first start of the year. She should come away second or third with a big chance to rally for the place late. (5) SHE STINGS chased home the top one last week. Will she gun out here or respect the speed of the heavy chalk? Race 3: Non-winners $10,500 (NW L2 $12,500) in last 5 or 8 (NW L2 9) races life/TM 86 (NW L2 90) or less - Pick 6 (1) CAPTAIN LUKE dropped two seconds from his qualifier in his 2026 debut and the 5-year-old seems poised for a win as he drops in class. (2) CAPTAIN CRUSADER A exits the same race and gets important post relief in this abbreviated field. He should sit close and rally for a big piece. (6) DOWNBYTHEWATER reeled off a huge mile last weekend and perhaps the light has gone on for this still your 4-year-old. Race 4: NJ Sire Stakes Silver div. for 3YO C&G Pacers (3) STINGMAN raced well in the Weiss series before drawing post eight in the final. Gelding now switches to NJSS and should be heading to the front and sitting no worse than a pocket trip. (8) OBLITERATE exits the Platinum division for this much easier spot; clear threat. (7) PERFECT CABERNET sat a good trip and simply wore down his foes in leg one. The outside post and tougher competition hurt a bit but I won’t count him completely out of win contention. Race 5: Trackmaster 71 (NW L2 73) or less (1) LOU ON THE BEACH lands in a great spot as he dips a level on the TM scale. He’s clearly the one to beat but don’t go taking odds-on if the price falls to that level. (8) FATHER TED GB had no chance in this class a week ago from post 10. He moves in a couple of slots and could get some pace to chase. (2) LAZARULS gets a barn change and adds Lasix. I’ve seen worse angles. (9) MARDI GRAS MAN has some go in his arsenal but also has gait issues. He could be trouble if he can stay pacing. Race 6: NJ Sire Stakes Platinum div. for 3YO C&G Pacers - $50K GTD Pick 4 (4) AZRAEL BLUE CHIP got stuck behind cover that stalled a touch at the head of the lane and that cost him a sure win. He’s going to be 2-5 in this spot and rightfully so off what we’ve seen so far. (2) A PERFECT MOMENT is the most interesting of the group for me outside of the top pick as he rallied well from the back last time in what was his career debut. He can certainly move forward off that mile. (7) THISBEESTINGS DEO has been fairly consistent of late but needs to step forward to have a serious chance. (1) OOGLESAURUS was done in by a bad post upon arrival; moves inside. Race 7: Non-winners $7,500 (NW L2 $8,250) in last 5/Opt. $20,000 Clm. (5) LUSAKA N is an import that was expected to make an impact here and while the first two starts didn’t result in wins, they are a solid foundation as he moves to the big track this week. With Lasix added, tonight looks like his night. (3) CAVIART LOTUS was second best last time behind a runaway winner. Only issue with this guy is a lack of early speed that makes him pace dependent. (10) SEASIDEESCAPE has to overcome the bad draw but owns the speed needed to do it. (8) MAC’S DELIGHT owns some class if he is ready to roll off the sidelines. Race 8: NJ Sire Stakes Silver div. for 3YO Filly Pacers - Pick 5 (6) WHOA BLACK BETTY gets a key class drop out of the Platinum division and figures to be trying her luck on the engine. She’s far from a lock but certainly should turn in a much better performance. (1) STING GIRL has some trouble on the turns but owns a decent turn of speed and showed it off in deep stretch last time; needs the right trip and setup. (8) PERFECT AND SWEET worked out a golden trip and put it to good use in round one of this series; outside post hurts. Race 9: Trackmaster 83.5 (NW 2L3 85.6) or less (3) CENTURY HEINEKEN comes to town with early speed and form for a good barn. While I don’t love Plainridge shippers, this division came up somewhat light. (2) ALWAYS B GIBBY is unreliable on the win end but gets into the money more often than not. (6) BEAT COP got in against a killer last time so draw a line through that race. This field seems similar in terms of class but it’s a drop in my book. Race 10: Non-winners $2,500 (NW L5 $4,056) in last 5 - $50K GTD Pick 4 (2) STORM THE COURT kept up much better last time and it is a positive sign that Silva calls on a catch driver after steering this guy for quite a while. I’ll roll the dice with this longshot from an inside post against a field that seems to lack early speed. (1) SAWYER’S DESIRE drops down for the potent combination of Engblom and Bartlett. (4) ACAPULCO SUNBURN and (8) BEST CHIP both move into the high percentage Bongiorno barn and either could awaken. Race 11: Trackmaster 74.5 (NW L2 76.5) or less (2) SAN JOSE should have no trouble getting around the #1 and figures to be in a great spot to win. (5) SELECT FRIDAY drops off a second in TM77. He’s been a very consistent player of late. (10) A LITTLE KICK just keeps turning in strong miles. Three-year-old just keeps showing up in these bottom classes and might be able to overcome the class hike with the right trip. Race 12: Trackmaster 68 (NW L2/L4 69/70) or less Series It is difficult to get excited about the prospects of any of these and my advice would be to find a single or two in other legs of the Pick 4 so you can spread very wide here. (1) TAHUYA SILK made a break last time on a sloppy track and perhaps we can forgive the miscue. The price should rise off that mile with Dunn electing to leave after race 10. (8) CAPTAIN CARTER reunites with Bongiorno and I expect he’ll put him in play. (5) MOONWARDS HANOVER is certainly firing off the gate as that is his calling card. Can he find some form? [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 13: Trackmaster 80.5 (NW L2 82.75) or less (3) GALANTE A just keeps rolling along as he climbs the class ladder and while this is clearly the toughest test to date, he should be sitting no worse than a pocket trip if not on the lead. Bartlett opted off but it was for his main account on #6, a horse that is 0-for-16 here. (2) LOVENBURY seems to be in a slightly easier spot but looks like a potential first over trip could be looming. (1) HUNGRYHUNGRY HIPPO was a winner when last in this class; clear threat. Race 14: Trackmaster 68 (NW L2/L4 69/70) or less Series (5) CHEESE OMLET gets a driver change and certainly has the speed to take this field a long way. (9) SPARTACUS BLUECHIP was a good second up in class but was saddled with a difficult post tonight. (6) THE BIG RAGOO drops back down to a condition where he was doing very good work through most of April. (4) ROCKABILLY CHARM has gotten a bit sharper in the amateur ranks and we know he’s capable of winning in this class from a good post.
