MEET STATS: 298-68-53-48 / $417.40 (-$178.60) BEST BETS: 22-12-4-2 / $42.00 (-2.00) SPOT PLAYS: 22-5-6-2 / $34.20 (-$9.80) BEST BET: JL CRUZE (5th) SPOT PLAY: NO DRAMA PLEASE (2nd) Race 1: Winners 5-7 (NW L3 8) races life - Pick 5 (4) CALIBER took a shot last week and held well to only lose by three lengths while finishing within a length of horses in this field that will offer much shorter odds at post time. (6) UCANTTOUCHTHIS has the early speed to make the front and rates as the horse to beat, though likely at an underlay on the board. (2) GAMBLIN MO is probably the best horse in the race, but having not started since November, he’ll probably need one to defeat this bunch. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: Non-winners $7,500 (NW L3 $8,515) in last 5/TM 82.01 or less (2) NO DRAMA PLEASE gets a key class drop tonight in his fourth start of the year and has no excuses for failure. (5) MEMO raced very well last week considering he shipped down from Canada and missed more than three weeks. Logic would state that new trainer Jenny Melander will have him sharper; using. (4) RONNIE GOLDSTEIN should be able to save ground and get into the number at good odds. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: Hello Spring Leg 2 NW7500 (NW L2 $8,450) last 5/TM 83.2 (NW 2L3 84.82) or less - Survivor 7 (2) I'LL DRINK TO THAT came up big in this class two starts back and now returns after another failed attempt at Yonkers. As a non-starter in the opening leg he'll need a win to make the final. Expect a big mile. (8) ALLUNEEDISFAITH N has done a 180 since moving into the Drennan barn and must be seriously feared here despite the bad post. (1) OCEAN RIDGE N was in an impossible spot from post 10 in an 11-horse field a week ago. Moving to the inside of the gate provides options. Race 4: TrackMaster 77.75 (NW L2/5 78/78.69) or less (3) MIKI MINAJ turned in perhaps her best career effort last Saturday and now she moves to the inside of the gate. I'm inclined to jump on her bandwagon now and hope for around 7-2. (9) EL’S DISCO JOHNNY is certainly sharp and clearly has the early speed to overcome the post. (2) ROCKABILLY CHARM has raced well a number of times in this class. Race 5: Non-winners $14,000 in last 5/TM 87 or less (5) JL CRUZE gets HUGE class relief tonight. Normally there are a couple of killers in this condition but this field came up very soft and the old guy should show them who is boss. (1) DELTASUN A is back in form now and on a track that he likes. (4) LIFEINTHESLAMMER sports a perfect record in seven starts and that will attract a ton of money. Watching her last replay she was completely shut down in the stretch, so maybe she is this good. Race 6: Hello Spring Leg 2 NW7500 (NW L2 $8,450) last 5/TM 83.2 (NW 2L3 84.82) or less - $50K GTD Pick 4 (6) ALTA ENGEN A went a solid mile in his first U.S. start despite the sixth-place finish. He's going to be bet off the board but it is justified. (3) IM A POWERPLAY A moves to the inside of the gate this week and seems likely to find early speed. (8) ACTON HANOVER is definitely firing hard off the gate and should have a big chance at a board spot. Race 7: Open/Preferred Handicap Trot I'm still a bit surprised that (2) SCIROCCO ROB lost last time but I'm not giving up on him. He gets a cushy spot on the inside of the gate and should use it to come away no worse than second early. He can pull off the upset if the race goes as expected. (9) LOVEDBYTHEMASSES has been toying with his competition lately but finds himself in a different bucket this week with more horses on the gate. If Tetrick plays it patient he may have too far to come and not knowing the tactics I have to pass at 2-5. (6) HILLEXOTIC romped in his first start for trainer Ron Burke. I guess we'll find out how good he is tonight. (5) CHIN CHIN HALL is a solid horse but he may need a start coming back from vacation. Race 8: Hello Spring Leg 2 NW10500 (NW L2 $12,000) last 5/TM 87 (NW L3/5/10 87.5/88/88.8) or less - Pick 6 (7) IGNATIUS A was sitting last at the head of the stretch behind a gapping horse and you could've gotten 30-1 likely on him finishing within a length of the winner, but somehow he uncorked a 25 2/5 final quarter to defy logic. Now in his second start over from Australia I'd expect him to be kept a bit closer to the pace, which could be scary for the competition. (4) PAT MCGARRY A just seemed a bit flat in his first start for Team Bongiorno. Don't give up on this guy yet. (5) MY PAL JOE is at a level where he should be very tough to beat. That said, he was scratched sick on March 26 and didn't enter last week, which has me somewhat concerned. Let's watch the warm-up for signs of fitness. Race 9: Non-winners $20,000 in last 5/TM 92 or less (8) WATER SPORTS TEEN didn't bring his best game to Yonkers off the bench but I'm not giving up on him so quickly. He should be firing to the front again and might just enjoy the big track. (9) ANA AFREET N is probably the horse to beat despite the outside post. This race is more of a NW14000 than a NW20000 as listed. (1) FABRIZIO N took some air last week and tired. A smoother journey would give him a shot. Race 10: $35,000-$45,000 Claiming Handicap - $50K GTD Pick 4 This class has proven to be extremely unpredictable as the last four weeks have produced four different winners. (8) COLOSSAL STRIDE A got unlucky when Way To Close went on a rapid-fire attack of the leader and left him uncovered most of the final turn. The Down Under import still held his ground nicely and there is no doubt he's sitting on a win. (4) THE BOOK OF LIFE has done his best work near the lead and this would seem like a good spot to change back to those tactics. (3) WAY TO CLOSE woke up last time. As a 24-time career winner in 95 starts, he likes to come out on top. Race 11: Hello Spring Leg 2 NW7500 (NW L2 $8,450) last 5/TM 83.2 (NW 2L3 84.82) or less (6) LIKE CLOCKWISE blew away a softer field but this level is well within his comfort zone when he is feeling good and this looks like the softer of these splits. (3) GODS SPIRIT N stepped up most recent and was second in this class. (4) DONTPASSME HANOVER had no shot from post 9 a week ago. He deserves a second look from this starting slot. Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter Race 12: Open Handicap F&M Pace The entire world is talking about (7) AMAZING DREAM N and she could be a superstar on these shores as well as Australia, but I'll roll the dice with (6) MAJORCA N, who has been awesome since coming over to the U.S. and won a race two starts back from last that she had no business winning. It should be an interesting match-up. The latter looked good but perhaps not unbelievable in her qualifier. Like the top pick, there is a decent chance she'll be raced from behind, so she'll have to pass a horse that is finishing in 26 and change at Dover! (4) ANNABELLE HANOVER raced well for second last time coming off a three week break. She can handle the rest. Race 13: Non-winners $4,500 (NW L3 $4,950) in last 5/TM 79.98 or less In a difficult race to close out the Pick 4 and Pick 6, I'll try class-dropper (10) ANA MALAK N. The post isn't ideal and he didn't have the best year in 2021, but none of these jump off the page and he should be tighter in his second start back from vacation. (1) TRU LOU could also improve in his second start after a four-plus-week absence and with the Burke barn. The main issue I have is that he had some early stretch traffic trouble and seems likely to be overbet. (6) SPIRIT OF TRUTH gets class and post relief. (8) SOMBODYITREASURE qualified sharply but this outfit tends to follow that pattern. I'm inclined to watch a start but realize a win is very possible.
