MEET STATS: 7 - 53 / $38.60 (-$67.40) BEST BETS: 3 - 4 / $10.20 (+$2.20) 2022 SPOT PLAYS: 0 - 4 / $0.00 (-$8.00) BEST BET - TAM MAJOR A (8th) SPOT PLAY - KAITLYN N (14th) Race 1 - NW3000L5 Pace - Pick 5 (5) MARCO BEACH slides down from the NW5000L5 class off a rallying third-place result last Saturday and hopefully he'll continue to offer some value. (3) AS ALWAYS didn't have much chance from post eight last time out at Pocono but finds a very soft spot here and drew well in his second attempt for trainer Richard Johnson. (1) ONE LUCKY DUDE gained a bunch of ground in the final quarter of his race a week ago and shifts in from the seven-hole to the pole position. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2 - Mares NW12500L4/NW7 Ext. PM Races LT Pace (6) SWEET TREASURE never looked comfortable on the half-mile track at Yonkers in the Blue Chip Matchmaker Series, but she exits that event to face overnight company tonight, and both of her qualifiers at the Meadowlands prior to the Matchmaker were excellent. (1) JODY and (4) VILLAGE JADE are both Ron Burke trainees. JODY has demonstrated the ability to race at the Open level at Yonkers when at her best and makes her first pari-mutuel start on Lasix, and VILLAGE JADE shows a third against NW20000L5's at Yonkers two back. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3 - Standardbred Retirement Foundation Series/3YO C&G NW2 Ext. PM Races or 35000LT as of 1-1-23 Pace (6) ALL ALONE finished a solid second to a very strong foe in Ants Marching last Saturday and gets away from that rival on this occasion. (2) SHEER TERROR qualified well twice at the Meadowlands and has very strong connections with 3-year-old pacing colts. (3) CAN'T SWAY ME picked up a check in the race won by Ants Marching a week ago and makes his second start off the bench tonight. Race 4 - TrackMaster Series Leg 2/TrackMaster Rating 80.5 or Less as of 4-4-23/Leg 1 Starters Pace (1) TJ BLAST was third in a division of the first round of this series a week ago and meets up with a softer crew here than he faced last Saturday. He also drew the pole after having post six in that contest. (4) BARGAIN SHOPPER shows a good third in the Game Of Claims Series at Pocono in mid-March and slides in on the gate from the nine-hole, which should hopefully put him closer to the action after he was seventh in the opening leg of this event. (3) VALOR came in fourth in the same race my top pick exits and is usable. Race 5 - Mares NW7500L5/TrackMaster Rating 83 or Less as of 4-4-23/NW7500 Starters Last Start Pace (3) PROTECT BLUE CHIP closed well to finish second the last time she raced in the corresponding class to this one over at Yonkers, and I think her closing/stalking style could be better suited for the big track. (5) ONECROOKEDLEG has posted back-to-back runner-up results, including at this leve last Saturday, and I will include. (6) CASH ROLL owns a win over NW7500L5 foes back on 3-17 and has hit the board in three of her last five outings overall. Race 6 - Open 1 Trot **$50,000 Guaranteed Pick 4 Pool** (5) INAMINUTE HANOVER prevailed in the top class at the Meadowlands on March 18 and raced fine from an outside post on Sunday at Harrah's Phildelphia, advancing from sixth to third in the final half. (3) RICH AND MISERABLE won that Open at Harrah's Philadelphia that my top pick comes out of. He did break stride at the Meadowlands twice in March, but perhaps those issues are now behind him. (6) HILLEXOTIC just missed in Opens both here and Dover in his last two efforts and packs plenty of early foot to leave from one of the outside posts. Race 7 - NW7500L5/Winner Base Class NW5000 or Less 1 of L2 Starts Pace (3) SPRINGSTEEN gets to drop out of the NW10500L5 class here and has had pace behind horses in his last three efforts. (7) IT'S IN THE STARS moves in a couple of notches on the starting gate tonight and will hopefully avoid getting away last like he did last Saturday. He's been showing a big kick in the final quarter if he has a smooth journey and gets some fractions to chase. (9) ADRIANO HANOVER is stuck outside but takes a significant drop and shows a victory at the NW10500L5 level in early March. Race 8 - 20000-30000CLM HCP Pace - Pick 6 (7) TAM MAJOR A enters off an impressive victory back on March 25 and also prevailed at this level back in late February. He was claimed by high-percentage connections out of his last win. (2) BETTER THAN SOME and (1) LACHIE MAGUIRE N both race out of the Justin Sodano barn. He's been putting a lot of live horses on the track as well. BETTER THAN SOME hasn't won this year but has hit the ticket several times and LACHIE MAGUIRE N steps up off a win over $15,000 claiming handicap company a week ago. Race 9 - NW14000L5/TrackMaster Rating 89.5 or Less as of 4-4-23/Winners Base Class NW11000 or less Last Start or Starters for a purse 19500 or less in L2 Starts Pace (4) BETTORS DONTTELL ships over from Pocono after a victory in the NW20000L5 class at that five-eighths-mile oval and took his life's mark in 47 and change at the Meadowlands in 2022. (1) BETTOR MEMORIES returns after also scoring at Pocono most recently and was third in a TrackMaster 89.5 or Less event at the Meadowlands two starts back. (2) UNCLE SHANK A makes his U.S. debut tonight off a huge qualifier at the Meadowlands last Friday. He won a Group 2 race in Australia back in 2021, so he has some credentials. Race 10 - Open 2/Open 1 Handicap Pace **$50,000 Guaranteed Pick 4 Pool** (6) BURNHAM BOY N checked in second behind the red-hot Southwind Gendry in this class last Saturday and can hopefully do one spot better tonight with Southwind Gendry not competing. (7) LOU'S PEARLMAN won a Preferred at the Meadowlands late in his 4-year-old campaign in 2022 and returns to action off a strong qualifier with a fast final quarter. (2) WHOLE LOTTA LOU is one of the sharpest horses racing right now and drew an inside post to try and keep his streak of quality performances going tonight. Race 11 - NW10501L4 Pace (1) FRANCO TOTEM N went a huge mile in winning the one time he drew well down at Dover on March 23 and has found the winner's circle at the Meadowlands before, too. He also squeezed into this race by a dollar as he's earned $10,500 in his last four starts. (3) ULTIMAROCA has hit the board in his last three outings but did burn some money last week as he had to settle for third as the favorite. I'll put him underneath. (2) MYSWEETBOYMAX steps up from the NW7500L5 level but won in game and determined fashion last Saturday and shows racing in the Open as recently as early March. Race 12 - NW5000L5/Not 3rd Or Better in Last 4 Starts Pace (2) CAPTAIN FANCY tested Mysweetboymax from first-over to the wire in that NW7500L5 race last Saturday and came up just a head short of winning. That was a very stout performance and he gets some additional class relief off that mile tonight. (1) DONTLIKEITLEAVE also drops out of the NW7500L5 level after finishing fourth from post six back on March 25. (7) PETIPOU broke at Harrah's Philadelphia on Sunday but performed well at the Meadowlands prior to that, and I'll bank on him rebounding. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 13 - TrackMaster Series Leg 2/TrackMaster Rating 83.5 or Less as of 4-4-23/Leg 1 Starters Pace (5) ITS SHOWTIME raced from off-the-pace a couple weeks ago and could never get involved over the sloppy racetrack. He had been doing well before that effort, though, and I would anticipate they will go back to more aggressive handling tonight. (1) DARK ENERGY N beat NW5000L5's two back at Yonkers and then was fourth in an added distance race at the half-mile oval in a subsequent effort. Let's see if the "turn back in distance," to use a term from the Thoroughbreds, aids him here. (8) CURBSIDE PICKUP drew the outside post but has closed in 27 and change in his last two starts - one here and one at Harrah's Philadelphia. I'll toss him in. Race 14 - Mares NW3000L5/TrackMaster Rating 77.5 or Less as of 4-4-23/12500CLM Pace (9) KAITLYN N doesn't have any victories yet this year, but she was third in this class last Friday. I think she'll offer some value in this wide-open nightcap and is worth a shot. (1) GOTTALOVEMYSHADOW triumphed in this class on March 24 and entered for the optional claiming tag so she didn't have to step up tonight. (4) AMERICAN JAZZ held on to get a check despite a fast tempo on 3-31 and hopefully can build on that effort.
