MEET STATS: 81-14-10-9 / $64.20 (-$97.80) BEST BETS: 6-3-0-0 / $8.60 (-3.40) BEST BET: CALLMEQUEENBEE A (3rd) SPOT PLAY: PADUKA N (8th) Race 1: Winners 4-6 races or $75,000 life - Pick 5 (2) MAJOR BETTS comes off a deceptive line where he was bothered on the first turn, had bad cover and was forced wide the entire final turn. Now with a couple of starts under his belt, this speedy 4-year-old could be ready to step up. (8) ROCKIN THE ACES gets a monster class break as he slips into this condition under the AE stipulation that doesn't consider state-bred wins. He's clearly the horse to beat and likely showing early speed. (1) ALWAYS AND AGAIN blew away a field in this class two starts back. He's hard to leave off your Pick 5 tickets. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: Non-winners $2,500 in last 5 (NW last 3 allowed $500) (1) BATTLE STRONG was restrained in the early stages as other left last week and wide the entire final turn, including five deep into the stretch, so let's cross out that line. This is the softest spot he has seen in at least six months and I'm expecting an improved effort. (4) PRIMO GIOVANNI has a few dull-looking efforts in this class, but any of the winners in those races would be heavy favorites here. If there is anything in the tank, we should see it tonight. (8) SKYWAY FIREBALL is certainly in a good spot but hasn't raced in 23 days; player if ready. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: Non-winners $7,500 in last 5/TM Rating 81.6 or less/Opt. $20K Clm. - Survivor 7 (6) CALLMEQUEENBEE A only drops one class level but the decrease in quality of competition is huge. There really is no excuse for her to falter. (10) MAJOR BATTLE faced some stretch traffic and finished up willingly in the fastest quarter of the race last week. That was her first start for this barn and first race in two months; more expected, though the post hurts. (1) BEST HONEY HANOVER won in this condition two starts back and obviously deserves consideration. Race 4: Non-winners $2,500 in last 5 (NW last 3 allowed $500) This is a tricky race, with a bunch of horses changing barns and very little form. (8) FORCE N FURY makes his first start since the $31,000 purchase at the Jan. 18 mixed sale. His qualifier wasn't great, but I see him as a better off-the-pace (make the lead last) type who will benefit from different tactics. (6) YANKEE OSBORNE gets more class relief here and can certainly awaken. (1) ALBERGO HANOVER moves into the Burke barn and should be an underlay now. That said, if the top trainer in the sport can figure him out, this guy will romp. (9) QUICK FUN N is another changing trainers and dropping a notch; wouldn't be a shock, especially with Dunn driving. Race 5: Winners 1-4 races or $35,000 life (2) IN NEVADA N charged home for the easy win in his most recent qualifier in preparation for his U.S. debut. Barn is on fire right now (won 4 of last 5 starts 2/20 to 2/24) but Dunn chose #1. (4) ENVIRONS HANOVER lured Brennan here for one drive last Saturday and he won. He's a clear player. (1) UNIQUE BEACH has been knocking on the door. He's an exacta threat for sure and has an outside chance if something clicks. (6) BIG CITY BUD just missed in this class in two of his last three starts; value play. Race 6: Non-winners $2,500 in last 5 (NW last 3 allowed $1,500) - $50K GTD Pick 4 This starts the Pick 4 and in all honestly I don't have a strong opinion here. (5) I’M A BIG DEAL upset at big odds last week and he certainly has the class to win again. (9) DECISION DAY would be the obvious favorite from an inside post. Will Callahan fire out here? (1) SAYING GRACE N was racing well until last week when Western Fame went nuclear and blew away everyone with crazy fractions. He can win here with the right trip. Race 7: Non-winners $7,500 in last 5 (NW last 2 allowed $1,001) Another interesting race in the Pick 4. None of these really jump off the page for me. Let's try (7) POKERFACE BLUECHIP, who could certainly perk up in his first start for the Sodano barn. Six-year-old already has two wins this year including a lifetime best over this track. (4) DEALER’S TABLE and (1) ACTOR HANOVER are the logical horses on paper as they both drop in class. That said, neither seems reliable. Race 8: Non-winners $7,500 in last 5 - Pick 6 (6) PADUKA N takes a meaningful dip in class this week and should be aggressively driven. (8) RODEO ROCK qualified back well before getting in against speed-crazy Western Fame. That race had to tighten him up. Let's see if he can tap into his class. (7) WESTLUCKY TERROR gets interesting driver and trainer changes. Is he ready after two months on the sidelines? (2) ANOTHER DAILY COPY has the ability but lacks the form. A smaller share seems the most likely outcome. Race 9: Non-winners $11,500 in last 5 or 10 races or $100,000 life/Opt. $30K Clm. (3) RICH AND MISERABLE tucked, came first-over and kept fighting hard through the wire last time. This is clearly a winning spot and Buter may try to send him down the road. (2) SOME CHAPTER got away last as the field went a slow half and even a 27 1/5 final quarter wasn't enough to get there last time. Dunn should have him closer to the action from the inside post. (1) GOES DOWN SOUTH raced well in his comeback race for new connections. I'm concerned that post one won't help his chances, but he certainly has a big shot. (4) GET LEGS is hard to fault at six-for-seven lifetime, but I don't see any value here versus a difficult field. Race 10: Winners Over/Open - $50K GTD Pick 4 (7) STARS ALIGN A finds himself on the east coast now and in the Takter barn. This is far from an easy field, but I like that he should be controlling the action on the front. (4) GODS SPIRIT N finally seems to be coming into his own on these shores. He should get good cover from some sharp foes to his inside. (6) SHNITZLEDOSOMETHIN could also be leaving the gate here and wind up in a pocket behind the top pick. (8) ANA AFREET N was sharp in his qualifier but might need a start or two to get up to speed. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 11: $10,000 Claiming (6) GOTTA GO B B rolled down the road versus cheaper last time and lucks into a soft claiming field that he can handle. (4) WESTERN REDHOT didn't fire in this class most recently but perhaps new trainer Watson can figure it out. (1) CENTURY CHURCHILL was flat in the lane last week but has some class and deserves a second look. Race 12: $12,500/$15,000 Claiming Handicap (3) BRIGADOON moves into a new barn and my gut says we are going to see a much better effort. At the very least the defection of Gingras to #6 will help our price. (8) FOREVERNALWAYS also changes barns and while some regression is possible, usually it takes a start or two to happen. (6) ACTING OUT will be at the mercy of the pace. Given the right setup, he should get into the number. Race 13: Non-winners $4,500 in last 5 (NW last 3 allowed $600) In a very tough NW4500, (2) STARZNHEAVEN was clearly flat in his first start after a series of qualifiers but should show more now from the inside post. (5) THATSWHATISAID N also drops down in class and he has the early speed to be involved from the get-go. (10) BILLY LINCOLN N needs some help from post 10, but if Zeron can work out a trip he has a big shot. (7) UNLOADED N is another who'll likely need some assistance. He's inconsistent but more than fast enough.
