Meadowlands: Analysis for Saturday 1/30

MEET STATS: 40-9-9-3 / $39.20 (-$40.80)
BEST BETS: 3-2-0-0 / $5.20 (-$.80)
BEST BET: DE LOS CIELOS DEO (8th)
SPOT PLAY: STATESMAN N (7th)
Race 1: Non-winners $11,500 in last 5 or $70,000 life/Opt. $30,000 Clm. - Pick 5
(6) GODSPELL HALL has been firing every other week and this is an on week for him in the trend. More on the logic spectrum for handicapping, he's the fastest horse in the race and even a first-over trip may not stop him. (1) BUZZ had to need the start last week after six months on the sidelines and a trip down from Canada. Veteran can play with these if on his game. (3) HENDERSON SEELSTER and (5) EXPLOSIVE RIDGE have the best form in the field and early speed, especially #3. Either is capable of winning.

Race 2: Winners 4-6 races or $75,000 life
(5) SCOOTNROLL is plenty fast and could be overlooked a bit in this spot due to the six-week gap in his lines. He's worth a long look in the post parade to gauge fitness. (2) THE CANDYMAN CAN worked out a golden trip to pull off the win in career-best time for Burke and now enters a new barn after going through the mixed sale last Monday. He should show early speed and be in prime position. (1) MY PAL JOE has a strong track record in this class; hard to toss.

Race 3: Big Game Series for $12,500 Clm. Starters - Survivor 7
This is a very tough race. (4) IM A DIRECTOR N probably needed a change of scenery after some bad luck at Yonkers and Monticello. Import has been here before and done well. (6) WATCHMENEIGHNEIGH was a winner in the $12,500 class a few weeks back and has been right there most weeks. (1) FOREVERNALWAYS is a sharp horse who has been claimed each of the last three starts; obvious player. (3) PREPPY ART showed some life last time and has a good history of doing well at this track. Perhaps new trainer Stallworth can keep him moving in the right direction.
Race 4: Winners 2-4 races or $35,000 life
(8) WINDSUN AZAR moves into a live barn and put in a useful qualifier to prepare. Four-year-old’s work up in Canada says this is a great spot. (1) JUNIOR MAN added Lasix last time and didn't fire, but that was off a five-week break in action. This guy has potential to take a big step forward at a price. (7) SAILBOAT HANOVER gets a condition change tonight and has proven capable of popping off a big mile.
Race 5: Non-winners $4,500 in last 5/Opt. $15,000 Clm.
(3) QUICK FUN N gets the class relief he needs this week and figures to be firing off the gate. Still, at 1 for his last 19, it's hard to get excited about him. (1) ODDS ON LAUDERDALE sold for $25,000 on Jan. 18. Six-year-old never quite lived up to his potential but could certainly perk up in a new barn. (6) FOX VALLEY NEMITZ has a string of good attempts against similar and seems worth using on multi-race tickets.
Race 6: Winners over $11,500 in last 5 or $50,000 life - $50K GTD Pick 4
The rail isn't the best post at this track but it works nicely for (1) JL CRUZE since he can gun out and secure no worse than a pocket trip. Now 10, he may be a step slower, but he's still more than fast enough to play at this level. (3) WARRIOR ONE is back at The Meadowlands where he has done very well; using. (6) DOUBLE ACCOUNT raced well in his first start since November. He's worth a look on the track for Pick 4 ticket consideration.
Race 7: Big Game Series for $12,500 Clm. Starters
(1) STATESMAN N didn't have much of a chance from off the pace at Freehold last time. Fourteen-year-old earned more than anyone in this field in 2020 and has career earnings that almost double tonight's competition. He's well-spotted for success. (10) POGEY BEACH overcame post 10 in a similar class a week ago and obviously needs to be on your multi-race tickets. (6) REGGIANO is in better form than a quick look at his PP lines will indicate; barn change as well.
Race 8: Big Game Series for NW11500/Winners NW8000 last start or TM 87.5 or less - Pick 6
(2) DE LOS CIELOS DEO is far from reliable but really should be able to handle this group unless he throw in a complete dud. (1) BLOOD LINE seems to have lost a half-step, but he can go with any in this field outside of the top pick when he is on his game. (10) IMA REAL LADYS MAN popped off a huge mile last week. I wouldn't be shocked if he did it again.
Race 9: Big Game Series for NW11500/Winners NW8000 last start or TM 87.5 or less
(8) BOILING OAR picked up some confidence down in class last week. This guy likes to win and has the speed to make the front in what is clearly the softer of these two Big Game races. (6) TULHURSTSANTANNA A gets clear class relief and only needs a reasonable setup to win. (5) HEZA REAL DIAMOND has early speed, decent form and the ability to post a big mile at any time. (9) PATERNITY SUIT A would be no shock, though he may needs help if he's to close from the back.

Race 10: Winners over $11,500 in last 5 or $50,000 life - $50K GTD Pick 4
(9) WESTERN JOE dropped and popped last week and really doesn't catch the toughest field ever for this class. There is no reason he can't repeat. (2) SPRINGSTEEN has been absent for a few weeks and it is hard to know if that is because the racing office wouldn't let him drop in company despite low recent earnings. If he is right, he's as good as anyone. (5) DECISION DAY gives an honest effort every week. If the trip works out he could upset.
Race 11: Non-winners $7,500 in last 5/Opt. $20,000 Clm.
(1) CINNAMACK had no shot in those races at Yonkers from outside posts. He's back on the big track and capable of pulling off a mild upset; Dunn drives tonight. (2) ANOTHER DAILY COPY qualified back in good order and really didn't miss that much time. If he's ready, this field is in trouble. (9) STONEDUST has early speed and is more than capable of winning, but he's not very reliable. (4) BANK SEA just missed when last seen in this class.
Race 12: Big Game Series for $12,500 Clm. Starters
(3) ROCK ON LINE is very sharp right now and looks like the one to beat. (5) RUTHLESS DUDE moves into a new barn that excels with newcomers. (1) BRIGADOON drops back down the claiming ladder and actually doesn't even need to be in for a tag in this series. He seems to have perked up in 2021 after a down year.
Race 13: Non-winners $7,500 in last 5/Opt. $20,000 Clm.
(2) BICORNE HANOVER threw in a complete dud last week that looks like a toss-out line. His prior start wasn't bad and there are no killers in this field. (6) PASSA-GRILLE BEACH has the early speed to make the front. That could be key against this group. (9) NOTABADGAME moves into a new barn and is eligible to awaken.
Race 14: Non-winners $4,500 in last 5/Opt. $15,000 Clm.
(4) LIKE CLOCKWORK never got involved from post eight last time. He moves to the middle of the gate here and adds Yannick. (2) DAKOTA JACK drops back down and should bring a credible effort. (8) BEST TRICK EVER goes the opposite direction up the ladder but has the form to handle the jump. (7) SPORTS OBESSION could be involved if Zeron elects to fire off the gate.
