Meadowlands: Analysis for Saturday 11/7

Derick Giwner|Nov 05, 2020
Meadowlands logo (new)

MEET STATS: 143-35-21-20 / $238.20 (-$47.80)
BEST BETS: 10-5-1-2 / $16.00 (-$4.00)
BEST BET:
FIRE START HANOVER (6th)
SPOT PLAYS: MAZZARATI (5th)

Race 1: Non-winners 2/3 races or $25,000/$30,000 life - $50K GTD Pick 5

(5) CLAYTONS BETTOR N was out-finished but still kicked home better with Lasix added last time. Five-year-old gets away from Aces Rock this week and should have every chance to win. (1) ROCKIN MEDICINE returned from a seven-week break with a decent mile from post nine. He should be tighter now. (6) RUTHLESS HANOVER toured the track from post eight on Sunday after missing six weeks. He's certainly fast enough to play with these and seems likely to get more aggressive here.

Race 2: Non-winners $25,000 in last 5

(3) ANA AFREET N can't be faulted for losing to the classy and game Highalator last time. He should take charge here and gets the narrow call in a field with sharp horses. (1) VETTEL N comes in from Philly off a win and should push away hard from the inside this week. (4) DECISION DAY was only a length behind the top pick last time while passing a bunch of horses late.

[DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!]

Race 3: Non-winners $7,501 in last 5 - Survivor 7

(3) LIKE CLOCKWORK is down in class and certainly sharp enough to step up at a price. (7) GO WEST GO FAST was a solid second in this class last Saturday and now he picks up Tetrick as well. (6) LOVE THE BLUES N is another class-dropper who seems more that capable of winning. (5) MINDTRIP has yet to win since climbing to this condition, but we all know he can get the job done.

Race 4: $10,000/$12,500 Clm. Hcp.

(8) PAPIAMENTO flashed early speed and picked up a win three starts back when Yannick Gingras last sat in the bike. I don't see much early zip to his inside this week. (3) WESTERN REDHOT is a capable horse in this class on his good days; trip threat. (5) ALL WEEK has been caught in some fast miles and this field doesn’t seem likely to pace in the 1:51 range.

Race 5: $252,340 Kindergarten Classic 2YO Filly Trot Final

(4) MAZZARATI was a strong second behind Lady Chaos in the Breeders Crown a week ago. Daughter of Cantab Hall seems to have a bit of a tactical edge over (3) ANOKA HANOVER, who has turned into a complete killer on the track; respect. (7) INSTA GLAM is certainly fast enough if she minds her manners and could be worth a look if her price drifts up. (1) WET THE WHISTLE set the co-fastest winning mile of the group here two weeks back. Can she repeat that mile?

Race 6: $151,030 Kindergarten Classic 2YO Filly Pace Final - $50K GTD Pick 4

(2) FIRE START HANOVER went good fractions on the lead and dug in gamely to win the Breeders Crown eight days ago. She's the obvious favorite wheeling back in this softer spot. (4) OFF THE RECORD exploded with a 26 1/5 final quarter to win despite missing four weeks of racing. There seems to be enough early speed to set her up and perhaps she's a better horse after the freshening. (9) LINDY AT THE BEACH was never in play from post eight last time but figures to be kept closer with more money on the line here. (1) THREE WAY SPLIT seems to be getting better each week; big test here.

[DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!]

Race 7: Non-winners $10,500 in last 5

(4) OCEAN COLONY rallied well from a tough post last time after sitting on the sidelines for six weeks. Classy 6-year-old is best near the front and seems likely to head that direction for Tetrick. (5) LETS ROLL returns to The Big M down in class and picks up a catch-driver as well. (1) SAYING GRACE N had been racing well before the break last Saturday; capable with a top effort. (6) PALOMAR is another who can step up with the right trip.

Race 8: $207,570 Kindergarten Classic 2YO Colt Trot - Pick 6

(5) DEE’S RED DELICIOUS is a bit on the inconsistent side, but the price we'll get on Saturday should make up for that bad habit. The bottom line is that he's proven to be as fast as any of these and if he brings a top effort, he'll be right there. (1) LINDYSMUSCLEMANIA has the early speed needed from the cones to gain position and the form and talent to make a serious impact. (9) ZENITH STRIDE has been just ok since the Peter Haughton win in August. Do we see early speed tonight? (8) JULA MUSCLE PACK seems to be coming into his own in recent weeks and gets a huge test from the outside post tonight.

Race 9: Non-winners $14,000 in last 5

(4) DE LOS CIELOS DEO has put together two huge efforts in a row. By all rights he should be the favorite and win, but he never races well when I pick him. (2) ANGERS BAYAMA has put up some big miles and his recent form isn't bad. He can definitely win with a decent setup. (10) GEEZ JOE is certainly talented, enough so that post 10 isn't a huge problem if he brings his best effort; not impossible.

Race 10: $204,050 Kindergarten Classic 2YO Colt Pace - $40K GTD Pick 4

(2) SIMON SAYS HANOVER has impressed me in his two Kindergarten starts and he gets a huge post edge on Breeders Crown winner (10) SUMMA CUM LAUDE, who will certainly be blasting off the gate and is impossible to toss off your multi-race tickets. (4) ALWAYS B SWEET is back on the big track where he raced well three starts back. Don't be shocked if he gets a piece at a big price. (9) DONTPASSME HANOVER is certainly fast enough to play with these, though the outside post could cause him some trouble.

Race 11: Non-winners $4,500 in last 5

(3) AMERICAN CHROME got away slowly and raced evenly in his debut for the Andrew Harris barn. With the driver change here, I'll roll the dice that he shows more. (2) PASSA-GRILLE BEACH raced well from off the pace last time. Is that a sign of renewed form? The class drop tonight should only help. (5) YACHT WEEK adds Gingras and has early speed.

Race 12: Non-winners $7,501 in last 5

(5) BRACKEN STORM A went a decent mile from a tough post in his first start on these shores. I'm expecting more now. (3) PAULY WALLY took some air and lacked a stretch punch in his debut for this barn; can do better. (8) LYONS KING gets a very interesting trainer change and could pop a huge mile. (1) DEALER’S TABLE is off a confidence-building mile. Four-year-old has the talent when right.

Race 13: $7,500 Claiming

(9) JUST N BERLANDER is certain to be overbet with Dunn jumping in the bike and I don't care, because I've seen too many of this type add him and win despite bad trips. (3) MRS BROWNS BOY gets a better post and adds an aggressive driver in Bongiorno while dropping in for a tag. (2) ACHILLES BLUE CHIP has early speed and form but seems like a better fit underneath. (4) POP POP JOE could be ready for more in his third start back from a break.
