MEET STATS: 30-8-3-4 / $43.40 (-$16.60) BEST BETS: 2-1-0-1 / $3.60 (-0.40) SPOT PLAYS: 2-0-0-0 / $0.00 (-$4.00) BEST BET: HL REVADON (7th) SPOT PLAY: BACKSTREET SHADOW (12th) Race 1: $75,000/$100,000 Claiming Handicap - Pick 5 (4) BET NINTEEN was wide most of the first turn and used hard to get the front at the half last weekend. Any more reasonable trip would give him a big shot. (5) ISLANDSPECIALMAJOR came up a bit short after missing nearly four weeks of action. He could be an interesting price play here. (7) ODDS ON DELRAY closed well while very wide in the stretch last time. Will he be overbet off that mile? [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: $12,500/$17,500 Claiming Handicap/MLK Remembrance Pace (10) SONIC FLARE is back at The Meadowlands and in the Alexander barn. This guy won multiple times over this track earlier in the year and seems worth a flyer if the price is right. (7) PARKLANE JET raced well from a tough post versus a runaway winner last week. (2) ROLL WITH DOM ships down from Maine with good form and seems fast enough to compete. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: Non-winners $4,000 (NW L3 $4,850) in last 5/TM 82 (NW L3 82.5) or less - Survivor 7 None of these really jump off the page for me. (1) LEAR SEELSTER drops out of claiming competition off a decent mile and looks like a live price player. (4) ROLLINWITHAMBITION woke up on the drop to this level last week when second behind a horse that couldn't lose. (7) PASSA-GRILLE BEACH had some late pace last time and seems very likely to be an underlay. Race 4: Non-winners $7,000 (NW L3 $7,760) in last 5/TM 85 (NW L2/5 85.5/86) – Pro/MLK Pace (2) STELLAR BB finally gets a decent post to work with this week. This guy could get Hanners on the board here in 2022. (3) TUXEDO BAY should be heading to the front this week. (5) MISSILE SEELSTER was hot in December. Will the time off and barn change hurt his form? (8) JK WILL POWER is by far the best horse in the race in perhaps the worst form. Maybe watch the post parade for clues on fitness. Race 5: $20,000/$29,000 Claiming Handicap (10) MINDTRIP didn't fire in his first start back in the Davis barn, but the track wasn't playing to early speed that night. There are no killers in here and the price will be better now. (1) CHICKEN NUGGET popped off a big mile when down in class last time. This spot is tougher but a repeat performance would make him a major player. (5) BANK SEA is a capable horse given a clean trip. Race 6: Non-winners $14,000 in last 5 or 7 races life/TM 90 or less - $50K GTD Pick 4 (5) AS ALWAYS was spectacular last Saturday and made me into a believer. Will this guy go in the sale on Monday as programmed? (1) MAYHEM HANOVER had no chance from post 8 most recently. He should be put in play this time. (4) BETTORS DONTTELL has been a fixture in first or second for as many starts as you can see on the program. Race 7: Non-winners $14,000 (NW L3 $15,400) in last 5/TM 89 (NW L3/5 89.5/90) (4) HL REVADON drops out of the Preferred where he held his own. This is a great spot. (10) DOUBLE ACCOUNT is the other one dropping out of the top class. If Bartlett can get him in position from outside, he has a huge shot. (6) MUSCLE JACK has proven somewhat versatile, winning near the lead and grinding on the rim. This race is a big step up though. Race 8: Non-winners $20,000 (NW L4 $20,100) in last 5/TM 92 or less - Pick 6 (1) GROOVY JOE comes with some slight concerns because he hasn't raced in four weeks, but that could've simply been a matter of circumstance during the holidays. Five-year-old drops in class and should be able to stay close from pylon position. (8) MR DS ROCK has been superb in consecutive starts here and gets a ticket into this race under the TrackMaster condition. (9) HAIL CHRISTIAN N certainly fits nicely with this group but will need pace help as a closer who could get away last. (7) BELMONT MAJOR N left hard last week and was just even late coming off a mini-vacation. Sale-bound horse figures to be put in play. (6) ROCKAPELO has class but I prefer him on the smaller track. Race 9: Non-winners $10,000 (NW L3 $11,150) in last 5/TM 88 (NW L3/5 88.5/89) (4) TRUMP NATION has been working himself back into shape after a long stay on the sidelines. Let's give him another shot. (6) THE BIRD DANCE N raced ok in his first try for this barn off a near seven week break; can improve. (1) EAST BEACH blew out a huge mile at Freehold. Can he continue that momentum on the big track? (9) CHASER HANOVER is ready to win in my opinion, but I suspect with the outside post we'll have to wait until next week when a class drop is coming. Race 10: Preferred/Non-winners $20,000 in last 5 or TM 89.3 draw inside - $50K GTD Pick 4 There is something to be said for drawing inside of the top tier in a handicap race and (5) DUNBAR HALL is the lucky winner this time around. Jeff Cullipher trainee has an option here to leave or look for cover from a prime post. (8) CHIN CHIN HALL is the horse to beat but could be closing from last again. (6) CRYSTAL FASHION has found himself since the sale at Harrisburg for $180,000. His best is good enough against this crew. (7) GOTWUTEVERITTAKES can step up at any time, though it has been four weeks since his last start. Race 11: Non-winners $10,000 (NW L3 $11,150) in last 5/TM 88 (NW L3/5 88.5/89) (2) SON OF A TIGER N took a tour of the track in his U.S. debut as he had no shot from post 10. Import gets to drop a level and I'm playing on the come here off expected ability. (4) BECHERS BROOK A gets some serious class relief and seems like a Pick 4 must. (1) STONEDUST is another getting away from an outside post that could show more now. Race 12: Preferred (5) BACKSTREET SHADOW continued to race into form with a solid effort last week. He's ready to win and only needs a reasonable trip for a big chance. (4) MY PAL JOE might have a clear shot at the front here, or at least a pocket behind (1) SAVE ME A DANCE, who looks for his fourth straight off what is looking like a spectacular claim for $100K. (3) LET IT RIDE N won in this class last week and certainly has a shot here, but the price will be lower now. Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter Race 13: Non-winners $10,000 in last 5/TM 87 (NW L3/5 87.5/88.1) (4) HAMMER TIME displayed some signs of life by closing for second last week. After a long time on the shelf he appears ready to bring a big mile. (5) KINGS COUNTY really wasn't that bad last Saturday and as a Monday sale horse he should be driven aggressively. (10) BLUEBIRD ROCKY is another slated to sell Monday and there is no way Gingras is taking back to last despite the bad post. Race 14: Non-winners $7,000 (NW L3 $7,760) in last 5/TM 85 (NW L2/5 85.5/86) (6) HURRIKANE EMPEROR was used hard to secure the front and faded a bit late. He's getting sharper and I'm going to stick with him in a wide-open race. (3) IM A GIGOLO N is one of many dropping in class here. Yet another sale horse, you can expect to see him involved. (5) LACHIE MAGUIRE N gets away from some salty foes in the claiming ranks. Race 15: Non-winners $4,000 (NW L3 $4,850) in last 5/TM 82 (NW L3 82.5) (8) MICKEYS SPIRIT exits a very fast race where he faced better foes. He could be live against this soft field. (6) BRUCE’S MAGIC was racing well here in the amateur ranks. Veteran can compete with this group. (5) WILD COUNTRY comes out of the same race as the top pick, so I guess he has to be considered. (10) NOME HANOVER hails from the hottest barn in the country.
