Meadowlands logo (new)

FALL MEET STATS: 146-35-26-21 / $200.90 (-$91.10)

BEST BETS: 11-7-1-0 / $41.60 (+19.60)

SPOT PLAYS: 11-0-2-3 / $0.00 (-$22.00)

BEST BET: ECURIE D DK (8th)

SPOT PLAY: EL REY (11th)

Race 1: Non-winners $20,000 (NW L3 $22,000) in last 5/TM 92 or less - Pick 5

(7) ANA AFREET N has been a top Open horse over the years here when on the top of his game and he seems to be arriving in good form. (10) ALL ABOUT THE HUNT looked like a sure loser at one point last out and found more to post a very game win. A win from post 10 is definitely possible. (3) TORONTO closed well with no shot on Nov. 12 but he did miss his last start due to "sickness". (6) ON ACCIDENT saved ground nicely and finished well for second most recently. If the pace gets hot he could be coming late.

Race 2: Non-winners $7,500 (NW L2/9 $8,405/$9,801) in last 5

(1) PADUKA N has been stuck in bad posts at Yonkers for the last four starts and his last good starting spot resulted in a win. Eight-year-old has won here in the past and seems very capable in this spot. (5) LYONS PEGASUS was never put in play versus a slightly better field last time. In a field lacking an abundance of early speed, perhaps Gingras will send him. (4) PATERNITY SUIT A has no shot from post 10 a week ago; adds Dunn! (10) GOOD ROCKIN steps up off a win. Winning from out here won't be easy but I wouldn't say it's an impossible task.

Race 3: TrackMaster 86.75 (NW L4 87.3) or less

(7) VILLAGE JADE exits a "winners-over" at Philadelphia for this softer spot and notice her form has been solid, though her last start was three weeks ago. (8) MILIEU HANOVER has raced a couple of times since but did finish ahead of the top pick in that Philly race, and the price here could be better. (6) JODY has speed and decent form; oh, and he adds that Dunn guy.

Race 4: $475,000 Goldsmith Maid final - Pick 6

Swinging for the fences a bit here with (6) BLONDE BOMBSHELL. Late-developing Walner-sired filly wasn't quite ready to overcome bad posts in just her second and third career starts in the Breeders Crown, but now she has a nice win under her belt in the Garden State last time and could be ready to break through with a big mile. (9) BOND is a very fast filly that can fly off the gate. She'll be the favorite here and with such a strong field she might be worth going against as the chalk. (7) MANBACITA looks super on paper if you ignore the break last time. I feel certain Gingras will leave hard and put her in play. (3) HEART ON FIRE just missed in the Kindergarten behind Bond and now adds Lasix. She could be a sneaky player here.

Race 5: $416,200 Valley Victory final

(9) VOLUME EIGHT doesn't look like the biggest horse but he’s got serious speed. His romp in the Kindergarten was unbelievable and as long as he minds his manners, I'm on board from any post. (2) CELEBRITY BAMBINO has been ultra-consistent and will try to give one a tussle. (7) KILMISTER qualified back well and his best would make him a contender.

Race 6: $140,000 TVG Mare Trot - $75K GTD Pick 4

(1) BELLA BELLINI has proven on countless occasions that she is the best of this division. The short field should allow her to sit just off the action and grind them down. (2) ATLANTA makes the final start of her career tonight and it would be great to see her win. If she can work out a pocket trip, I wouldn't be surprised if she had one last magical moment. (3) WHEN DOVESCRY is clearly a contender on her best, but she'll likely need to steal away a soft half on the lead to succeed.

Race 7: $428,400 Three Diamonds final

(3) STRONG POISON went an "old-time" type mile as Gingras rated her on the rim while parked the mile in her elimination. I'm expecting a monster mile from her in this spot and hopefully a slightly better price than (1) BELLISIMA HANOVER, who took a bye into this final. She looked very good in the Kindergarten beating a quality field. (8) HUNGRY FOR LOVE is fast enough on paper and the effort last time was pretty good considering she had missed more than four weeks of action. I've seen worse 20-1 morning lines; using.

Race 8: $330,000 TVG Open Trot - Survivor 7

(5) ECURIE D DK gave up early last week when the horse to his inside also left. There is also some contention as to whether he raced without shoes in the mile. Either way, the big money is on the line here and Dunn is back in the bike. Down the road! (1) BACK OF THE NECK was flat in the Breeders Crown and now we have to guess whether he’s sharp enough after four weeks on the sidelines. My guess is yes but let's take a close look at him on the track. (7) IT'S ACADEMIC is the sharpest horse in the race but the waters get much deeper here. Can he call on his class and overcome the outside draw? Using underneath only.

Race 9: $158,000 TVG Mare Pace

(2) TEST OF FAITH left herself too much to do in the Breeders Crown and came up just short. Lasix goes on here and I would think Miller will be looking to let the dust settle and move early in her final start of the year. (5) GRACE HILL has made her mark late in the year and might just be sharp enough to best the top pick if the trip works in her favor. (8) NIKI HILL was awesome in the Matron and simply was done in by a tough trip in the Breeders Crown. She has the talent to play with her elders here but not if she has to do all the work.

Race 10: $345,000 TVG Open Pace - $75K GTD Pick 4

I'd have to think on it a bit more but (4) BULLDOG HANOVER may be the best pacer I've ever seen. His 1:46 4/5 Breeders Crown win was mind-blowing and none of these horses are in his class. Unless he has a very bad night, they are racing for second. (2) LOU'S PEARLMAN finally stepped up last time and somehow I missed it. This son of Sweet Lou has talent and form. (8) TATTOO ARTIST will be firing to the front as usual and I'd expect he'll last longer this week with the big money on the line. (6) BACKSTREET SHADOW has picked up his game as the weather has gotten colder.

Race 11: $430,000 Governor’s Cup final

(5) EL REY was raced conservatively as expected last time and came home with good energy for third to easily make the final. Captaintreachrous colt saw the light bulb go on a handful of starts back and he lands a perfect post here to stalk just off the pace and pounce. (6) COMBUSTION looked good winning his elimination and here is another Pelling horse adding Lasix in their final start of the year; using. (3) SAVE AMERICA hasn’t been able to finish his miles lately and now adds Lasix. Is that the magic elixir that transforms him back into the killer we saw earlier in the year? (4) AMMO is certainly talented enough to win but like all of these, demand at least 3-1 if you like them.

Race 12: Non-winners $10,500 (NW L3 $11,500) in last 5/TM 85 (NW L3/5 87/87.5) or less

(6) KING TRITON A just missed in his U.S. debut. I'd expect a small step forward here and that should be enough. (4) MARK WITHA K has proven capable of going a big mile over the track and Miller did choose him over the top pick. (1) PASSA-GRILLE BEACH has been racing well while lacking a knockout punch for the stretch.

Race 13: Non-winners $7,500 (NW L2/9 $8,405/$9,801) in last 5

(1) CONTROL HEAVEN takes a meaningful drop in class and was Tetrick's choice. (3) LETSGOTOBRAZIL A couldn't be any sharper now. (10) MINDTRIP loves this track and certainly has the early speed to overcome the outside post.

Race 14: Winners 2-4 (NW L3 5) races or $50,000 (NW L3 $60,000) life

(5) ARIO HANOVER took care of business in an overnight field two starts back before getting his hat handed to him versus a group that would be 1-9 in here. He should be looking at an aggressive steer tonight. (4) UNSUNG HERO is a capable horse on his best and Dunn does join the team. (2) QUICK SNAP is another getting away from stakes company who could pop up with a big mile. (7) MAC'S MARVEL was awful last time but fine before that. Let's see how he handles the big track.
