Meadowlands: Analysis for Saturday 11/13

Derick Giwner|Nov 11, 2021
Meadowlands logo (new)

MEET STATS: 138-56-24-20 / $231.00 (-$45.00)

BEST BETS: 11-8-0-1 / $23.00 (+1.00)

SPOT PLAYS: 11-2-2-4 / $7.40 (-$14.60)

BEST BET: NIKI HILL (9th)

SPOT PLAY: SORELLA (12th)

Race 1: $20,000-$30,000 Claiming Handicap - Pick 5

There are truly no standouts in this group and perhaps Meadowlands veteran (5) MINDTRIP can relieve some of his glory years here. (7) GO WEST GO FAST is clearly fast enough but comes off consecutive "scratched-lame" lines. Take a good look at him in the post parade before spending your money. (2) ARCHANGEL THREE is off a nice win and capable of saving ground and pouncing late.

Race 2: Non-winners $7,001 (NW L3 $8,000) in last 5

(5) NO DRAMA PLEASE is way down in class and almost has to wake up versus a very suspect field. (3) SOUTHWIND FROST takes a somewhat similar class drop but lacks the class of the top pick. (6) TAKE A WISH should be along for a late piece.

[DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!]

Race 3: Fall Harvest for Winners 2-4 (NW L3 5) races or $50,000 (NW L2 $60,000) life - Survivor 7

(7) RED RIGHT HAND doesn't appear to have much competition here and has been much sharper since adding Lasix. (1) BETTORS DONTTELL improved in his first start for Burke and could take a step forward moving to the big track. (6) AS ALWAYS has displayed hints of ability at times but will need to step up to threaten the top pick.

Race 4: Non-winners $7,000 in last 5 or $900 p/s in 2020-21

After missing six weeks, (2) ITSROCKANDROLL A was used hard from an outside post and came up flat late at Dover. With that start in-hand he can have a big say here. (6) ROCKATHON gets a bit more class relief and could be handled aggressively. (4) KEYSTONE PHOENIX blew out a huge mile at Philly last Friday. Can he produce that effort again?

Race 5: $300,960 Kindergarten 2YO C&G Trot Final

(2) ROBERTSIN comes off an ugly line in the Breeders crown elim, but the track wasn't exactly tight that night and maybe it just didn't agree with him. The price should be right to take a shot. (7) COACH K HANOVER had no chance from the pocket last time after chasing slow fractions. I wasn't crazy with his gait but he kept his act together and Ake will likely have him better for the final. (9) FAST AS THE WIND has been maturing with every start and only needs a reasonable trip to be a major player.

Race 6: Fall Harvest for Non-winners $14,000 (NW L3 $15,800) in last 5 or 7 (NW L3 8) races life - $50K GTD Pick 4

(2) DORSODURO HANOVER finally picked up his first win of the year last time and while (6) SHOOBEE DOO A is a tougher foe than he faced in that win, his class should show here. The latter has early speed and good form; main danger. (5) ROCKIN THE ACES has been fairly consistent and worth using underneath.

Race 7: $294,580 Kindergarten 2YO Filly Trot Final

(7) LILBITALEXIS didn't have it in the slop on Breeders Crown night after looking super in previous starts. She's the best of this group if she brings her "A" game. (4) VALENTINA BLU took a step in the right direction last week when she closed with trot after a ground-saving trip. The big question is whether she is fast enough. (5) MISSWALNER FASHION clearly has the speed but doesn't look overly pretty doing it. I'll fade her on top at what could be low odds. (1) PALERMO HANOVER is capable of taking some air and has a strong closing kick.

Race 8: Fall Harvest for Non-winners $14,000 (NW L3 $15,800) in last 5 or 7 (NW L3 8) races life - Pick 6

(6) NO LOU ZING qualified back nicely and certainly lands in a soft spot. The barn has been cold for some time but we've seen a few signs of it awakening over the last week or so. (2) SEMI TOUGH has some class to him and draws a perfect spot for Gingras to get him in play early. (4) HAIL CHRISTIAN N switched barns to Pelling off a month break and still won. Can he take another step forward here? (9) HARAMBE DEO is certainly capable but the post might be his undoing.

Race 9: $220,110 Kindergarten 2YO Filly Pace Final

(2) NIKI HILL is the best 2-year-old Standardbred in training from what I've seen so far. Enough said! (3) TREACHEROUS DRAGON has talent but still seems to be a notch behind the top pick. (9) DONT FENCE ME IN is one of four from the Alagna barn and all drew the outside posts. She's the best of the group but up against it tonight. (6) FIND HAPPINESS has a knack for finishing second; using underneath only.

Race 10: $100,000-$150,000 Claiming Handicap - $50K GTD Pick 4

(3) J M MANDAMIN brushed en route to victory in his last try at this level and should be looking at similar tactics here. (7) TWIN B TUFFENUFF should be gunning to the front. Can he get over the top after a string of seconds and thirds? (2) ROCKIE GOT FRAMED rallied behind the top pick for second last time out.

Race 11: $238,700 Kindergarten 2YO C&G Pace Final

(6) EARLY ACTION and (3) HAMMERING HANK are very hard to separate. Both have plenty of talent but I lean slightly towards the former since he'll likely be controlling the action and has proven to have a nose for the wire. (9) JD has big early speed and should be tighter in his second start back from a layoff.

Race 12: Non-winners $20,000 (NW L3 $22,000) in last 5 or 10 (NW L3 11) races life

(1) SORELLA is somehow still winless this year and the way yearlings are selling right now perhaps her connections are wishing they would've bred her in 2021, but she's still plenty talented and this is a spot where she could shine. (7) BEADS gets a driver change and perhaps that is a good thing for a horse that could use a different set of hands right now. He has a big win shot but might not be worth playing as the chalk. (4) GET LEGS is a good trotter who had a bad day last out. Don't hold that against him.

Race 13: Fall Harvest for Winners 2-4 (NW L3 5) races or $50,000 (NW L2 $60,000) life

(3) ROLLIN IN NEW YORK went a decent mile from post 10 last week and might be able to show more now at a price from the better starting spot. (7) ULTIMAROCA raced well in his first Meadowlands start for Burke. He should be heading to the top. (1) HIS BEATS HANOVER had no excuse last weekend and finishing second is starting to become a thing for him. (5) HIGH BALLER picked up a win last time and perhaps gained some confidence as well.
