Meadowlands: Analysis for Friday 9/25

MEET STATS: 65-20-9-10 / $154.20 (+$24.20)
BEST BETS: 5-4-0-0 / $11.40 (+$1.40)
BEST BET: ALBERGITA HANOVER (6th)
SPOT PLAY: JK ALWAYSBALADY (1st)
Race 1: Kindergarten Classic 2YO Filly Pace - Pick 5
(7) JK ALWAYSBALADY was a bit flat in her first start since July. Royally-bred filly has more in the tank and we should see it this week. (5) OFF THE RECORD floated away, took some air and kept pacing hard through the wire last week. She seems to be improving. (3) FIRE START HANOVER was very impressive in leg 1 last Friday but she loses Dunn in the bike.
Race 2: Kindergarten Classic 2YO Colt Pace
I loved the early speed displayed by (6) SHAKESPEARE a week ago in what was a quick mile. There is ability here. (1) COMMANDING OFFICER was used in the early going and bested the top pick last time; one to beat. (2) CAPTAIN SLEAZE should sit relatively close and be an exotics factor.
Race 3: Kindergarten Classic 2YO Colt Trot - Pick 6
(3) DEE’S RED DELICIOUS never got involved from an outside post last week. I'm going to give him one more shot. (7) LINDYSMUSCLEMANIA rolled down the road last Friday and remains perfect in three starts on the year. (2) ROBERT’S HANOVER has some early speed and form; fast enough? (1) BROADWAY DON came into form at Red Mile. How will that translate here?
Race 4: Kindergarten Classic 2YO Filly Trot
(2) CHABLIS raced well off a six-week break when finishing second behind a potential star in Aunt Irene. This race is her chance to shine. (1) MAZZARATI has done little wrong in her career with five on the board finishes in six starts. (7) IZZY DEMSKY was ok on the New York scene and now tries to stretch out on the big track.
Race 5: GSY Amateur Series
(7) PROPHET BLUE CHIP went a long mile and held rather well when last seen a couple of weeks ago. Five-year-old is sharp and capable with a slightly better trip. (9) DAVID THE SAINT should be plenty tight after racing on Tuesday. On paper he's as fast as any horse in the field. (1) LEAR SEELSTER finally draws well and perhaps we’ll see more early speed. (4) SCIROCCO MISTYSAID loses my support this week on top but should get a piece.
Race 6: Kindergarten Classic 2YO Filly Pace - Pick 4
(1) ALBERGITA HANOVER won over the half at Yonkers back in early August, but she’s simply not a small-track horse at this point in her career. I expect her to move way up on the big track tonight. (3) DRESDEN has done her best work on the engine. Can she secure that spot this week? (6) I SAY NO MORE flashed 27-and-change speed at both ends of her mile last week. Can she build on that performance in her second start over the track?
Race 7: Non-winners $7,500 in last 5/TM 81.5 or less
(7) CHIPLOSIVE gets away from the far outside posts and drops in class. If he is going to wake up and pick up his first win of 2020, this looks like the right spot. (8) LIFETIME ROYALTY comes out of the same race as the top pick and finished way in front of him; using. (2) SOUTHWIND FROST is involved week after week but can't seem to get over the top; underneath only. (1) PIERCEWAVE HANOVER wasn't as good as I expected last time but still merits consideration.
Race 8: Kindergarten Classic 2YO Colt Trot
(8) ZENITH STRIDE had no chance of closing into slow fractions last time. Gregory should put the Haughton winner into play earlier this time. (1) UNWRITTEN CHAPTER is a horse that seems to have some ability and I think will thrive on the big track. (6) RED REDEMPTION has some early speed and is certainly fast enough to play with these on his best.
Race 9: Kindergarten Classic 2YO Colt Pace - Pick 5
(1) BETTOR NOT TALK made a break last time while facing one of the best 2-year-olds in the sport. He seems faster than these if he brings his "A" game. (3) SUMMA CUM LAUDE got away with easy enough fractions and was home free last week. (6) ALWAYS B SWEET closed well most recently. Will he build on that mile?
Race 10: Non-winners $4,500 in last 5TM Rating 78 or less - Pick 4
(9) THE FUN MARSHALL took a shot uncovered and couldn't sustain versus better last time. Despite the outside post, I'll take another shot on the drop in class. (3) KAY'S DELIGHT finally gets a good post to work with here. (2) GLENFERRIE BRONTE N hails from a cagey barn and Mann may very well gun off the wings of the gate.
Race 11: Non-winners $2,500 in last 5
This race came up tough for the bottom class. (9) SHOREVIEW was facing much better when last seen in this region and now he returns in a high percentage barn. Steve Smith in the bike could mean we get a decent price. (7) D M JOHNWICK raced pretty well in his first start since January and also initial try for Drennan; more now? (2) FOO FIGHTER N wasn't bad last time; not impossible. (3) DEERFIELD BEACH drops out of claimers and into a spot where he can be competitive.
Race 12: Kindergarten Classic 2YO Filly Trot
(5) LIZ’S CHAMP displayed good late energy in her Meadowlands debut. I'm looking for a more aggressive try this week. (2) REBEL GIRL just missed in a blanket finish in leg one of the series; clear player. (4) INSURED AM S has raced well in New York and now tries a new circuit.
Race 13: TrackMaster rating 73 or less
(6) GRANDPA DON closed well last week from too far back. Let's give him another shot. (2) WALKS OF LIFE seems likely to be the favorite again and after last week, I don't feel very confident. (5) THUNDER DOME broke in his first try for this barn and deserves a second shot. (4) ALBERT A' SCOOTIN comes off a win and raced very well when last seen here.
