Meadowlands logo (new)

MEET STATS: 13-5-2-2 / $39.20 (+$13.20)
BEST BETS: 1-1-0-0 / $2.80 (+$0.80)
BEST BET:
DAYSON (7th)
SPOT PLAY: WOODMERE OLEKSIAK (11th)

Race 1: GSY Amateur Series - Pick 5

(9) PROPHET BLUE CHIP hasn't raced in a month but was sharp when last seen and seems likely to be aggressive from the outside post. (4) FOREVER WORTH IT is also off a win and racing for a veteran amateur driver. (2) FRILLS N LACE is going to take plenty of money dropping out of Sire Stakes, but let's keep in mind that she is 0-for-6 in her career and facing older foes tonight.

Race 2: Trackmaster Rating 73.5 or less

(7) SPONDULICKS N raced well in both July starts at this level and I liked what I saw from him in his second start for new trainer John Butenschoen. Let's give him the narrow call in a soft field. (9) DRAMATIC POINT burned money as expected from post 10 last time. He moves in one spot and I have a feeling early speed is coming. (6) S MCKEE pulled off the upset in his first start for the Cano barn; eligible to repeat. (5) NORTHERN JACK raced evenly from the back most recently; leaves tonight?

Race 3: Non-winners 2 races or $20,000 life - Pick 6

(3) SONOFAMISTERY looked like he could be something after a pair of qualifiers but went out and broke in both July starts. Melander charge qualified back well and perhaps the issues have been addressed. (8) SOUKUP BLUE CHIP raced well in her last two Sire Stakes races in New York and seems like a fit. (10) GOODASHIM has the early speed to overcome the tough draw. (6) TOPOFTHEHILL S is another that looked like he could amount to something early that didn't pan out. Having missed over 30 days, who knows what to expect.

Race 4: Non-winners $2,500 in last 5/TM Rating 74 or less

(10) WOODMERE HARRIET looks like a private purchase by Jeffrey Webster, who hasn't trained a horse since 2013 according to Pathway but owns a 22% strike rate and conditioned horses like Riyadh and Stand Forever. I'll take a shot here with the Maritimes shipper. (4) MILADY DENVER A drops off an even mile. (7) CABOWABOCUTTIE also moves down the class ladder after drawing some outside posts.

Race 5: Non-winners $4,500 in last 5/TM Rating 78.5 or less

(2) SPECTRE won easily enough at Pocono last time and somehow drops in class in terms of condition level. He's a bit risky on the breaking end, but very dangerous. (8) WHAT CHAPTER qualified back in good order. He’s another with the potential to break or pop a big mile. (10) ZLATAN hasn't started in five weeks but certainly has the class to take down this field. (3) FINNICK ODAIR took a shot and couldn't sustain last time; trip threat.

Race 6: Non-winners $7,500 in last 5/TM Rating 81 or less - Pick 4

(1) KAITLYN N arrives from Yonkers and gets class relief. Veteran mare loves to win. Dexter chose elsewhere but hopefully 'Captain' Corey can get the job done. (5) WHITEHAVEN LASS A comes in from Philly and also drops. She raced well when last here, though against weaker foes. (2) SALLY FLETCHER A hasn't been in good form but perhaps the switch to the big track will help.

Race 7: Non-winners $7,500 in last 5/TM Rating 81 or less

(10) DAYSON beat up on foes at Philly last time to gain some confidence. Millionaire drew poorly but really has no excuses in this field. (4) MANNY L almost won last time on the barn change despite making a stretch break. If the issues are straightened away, he could threaten. (1) ICINGON DE CUPCAKE was in tough over at Pocono recently and should play nicely with this field.

Race 8: Non-winners 2 races or $20,000 life

(2) SOUTHWIND PETYR posted a solid debut mile on August 19 and followed it up with an even better maiden-breaking win at Vernon against Sire Stakes company. While this isn't an easy field and Dunn went to #6, American ideal colt seems to have some ability and I'm sticking with him. (6) ONE EIGHT HUNDRED has shown more than enough in the morning and his limited starts to expect a strong performance. (1) SHAKESPEARE turned the race into a sprint last time and came up just short. Maybe he needs to follow horses. (4) SHANIA BLUE CHIP scored in her second career start and tackles boys here. Homebred has a shot but gets tested.

Race 9: Non-winners $14,000 in last 5/TM Rating 86.1 or less - Pick 5

(2) ELYSIUM LINDY has faced stakes and Preferred foes in his last two starts here and obviously it didn't go well. This is a field where he should feel very comfortable. (8) MORAIRTIME could break or could win. The odds should be good enough to toss him on your multi-race exotic tickets. (5) LUCKY WEEKEND is racing pretty well right now but needs a trip to win. (9) CHIPLOSIVE threw in a break last time but was racing well prior to that. He's up in class but I think he can go with these given the right trip.

Race 10: Non-winners $14,000 in last 5/TM Rating 86.1 or less - Pick 4

(2) KENZIESKY HANOVER caught a tough field for the class but is by far the most consistent performer. While she's had trouble winning in 2020, that is more due to her competition than her ability. (10) RICH AND MISERABLE was having breaking issues on the smaller oval at Yonkers. Don't be shocked if he fires off the gate and comes up big on the mile track tonight. (3) EUROBOND is capable of winning this race by open lengths or making a break and finishing last; tough call. (4) PAPPY GO GO certainly picked up some confidence at Plainridge. Can he build on that? His best races make him a contender.

Race 11: Non-winners $4,500 in last 5/Opt $15,000 Clm

(1) WOODMERE OLEKSIAK was backed out of the race two starts back and comes off a throw-out line at Yonkers from an outside post last time. I'm looking for a major form reversal tonight. (4) EXOTIC DANCE is as good or better than any horse in the field, but she has missed 25 days; mixed feelings. (2) BONTZ N comes down from Saratoga in form and picks up Tetrick.

Race 12: Non-winners $2,500 in last 5

(1) ROCKIN THE ACES visits the basement condition level and almost has to win, right? (3) ANCLE never got involved from an outside post last time. He should be a player here, at least for second if the top one pops a big mile. (8) SPICEBOMB got caught in a fast mile last time. He should be closing for a share.

Race 13: Non-winners $2,500 in last 5/TM Rating 75.5 or less

(7) LIQUORSTOREBLUES gets an interesting barn change via a private purchase after a string of races from post 8 at Saratoga where he had no shot. Don't be surprised if she responds at first asking. (8) ER SKYWALKER has run into some breaking issues but has a 1:55 mark here this year. (2) LIFETIME ROYALTY should enjoy the switch back to the big track. (6) ALLINDOTIME has some early speed in his arsenal and could be a player if Miller uses it.
