(6) MAYA PATEL HANOVER has the early speed to make the front and sit no worse than a pocket trip. She seems like the most reliable option in this field and could offer more value than originally expected with Gingras out of town at The Meadows. (3) OPULENCE certainly has the pure talent to go with these if she can keep her act together. Last time she was just unlucky as the pace slowly dramatically and she ran right into the horse in front of her. (10) NICHOLSON comes off a non-descript qualifier but don’t let that make you think he can’t fly off the gate and be involved.

Race 2: Kindergarten 2YO Filly Pace
The 2-year-olds kick off at The Meadowlands with this event and the key in these races is often finding the value. That is not so easy three days out, but we’ll key in on horses we like that should be a fair price. (5) DOWNTOWN BLVD faced one of the better 2-year-old fillies we’ve seen thus far in both qualifiers and raced well twice, coming up second best two back and being a willing fourth last time. This gal is a full sister to top 3-year-old Brandon Blvd. (1) BODY AND SOUL went a steady mile in start one and dealt with all kinds of stretch traffic last time. She could offer serious value if people didn’t watch the last qualifier. (6) JK LADY LIBERTY was a willing second last time in a fast mile. Near-millionaire mom has dropped some good ones but none recently. (2) STERL THE PEARL has the most visually pleasing lines but those aren’t always an indication of victory to come.
Race 3: Kindergarten 2YO Filly Pace - Pick 6
(7) SEASIDE UBEAUT may not have the final times of some of the others in this field but she’s been very impressive in two starts. Downbytheseaisde half-sister to Ubrute seems plenty talented and we may get a decent price since Dunn elected to take (1) WENDY J STINGS. The latter took a bit of time to hit gear in start one but kept up nicely in faster fractions last time and raced well despite getting passed. Perfect Sting filly could get lucky with a close-up trip here and capitalize. (5) JK SIMCHA rolled on the lead in her second qualifier and hailed from a barn that tends to send them out ready to go.
Race 4: Non-winners $7,500 (NW L2 $8,250) in last 5 or 7 races life/TM 83.5 (NW L2 85.5) or less
(4) CERISE RAINBOW A acclimated easily to the speed of U.S. racing when winning going away in her first try on these shores. Mare steps up a notch this week but seems up to the task unless one of these pops a big mile. (2) COACHELLABOUND N got shuffled, trapped and finished with plenty left when daylight developed. Classy mare adds a new driver and is a trip threat. (10) RECKLESS ABANDON was driven out to prepare for her return to the races and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her fire out here.
Race 5: Kindergarten 2YO C&G Trot - $50K GTD Pick 4
(7) JIMDOUGIE ARMITAGE was able to win on the engine, which is always nice to see from a youngster, and he sprinted home with a sharp 27 2/5 final quarter. High-priced yearling seems to have some ability. (8) SEVEN PLEDGES was a measured winner in his first morning try and scored last time under just some urging. Chapter Seven colt looks promising as well. (6) A MAN WITHOUT LOVE exhibited an impressive burst in his first qualifier and wasn’t bad sprinting home in a good final quarter most recently. A good price is certainly in the offing and he’s not without a chance. (3) GUSTAV VASA was second behind #8 last out and he seems to chase nicely; using underneath.
Race 6: Kindergarten 2YO C&G Trot
(5) KOUNTRY WIN added hobbles in his last qualifier and was a completely different horse. When Dunn showed him daylight in mid-stretch he finished full of trot. This guy is a King Of The North half-brother to the nice trotting mare Winnpanzee ($360K). (6) WRONG SOUNDS RIGHT is another who really hit stride late in the mile and finished with loads of trot. Trainer Jim Campbell may’ve landed on a good one. (7) BIG TIME TROT S flashed speed and made a break but the recovery was very impressive. He’s an interesting player with a clean mile. (2) LINCOLN KRONOS doesn’t have flashy times but that should mean the price will be right. I wouldn’t completely ignore him.
Race 7: Non-winners 2 (NW L2 3) races or $20,000 (NW L2 $30,000) life/Maidens draw inside - $13,604 Hi-5 Carryover
(10) APOCALYPSEBLUECHIP just went around the track in the Messenger while facing much better after missing more than a month of action. That effort should have him tighter and hopefully Bongiorno will take a shot off the gate. (9) CORVETTE STINGRAY is also facing easier after tackling two Meadowlands Pace horses last time. He’s another without many wins but doesn’t lack talent. (4) ISCAH HANOVER gets Zeron back in the bike and should be in a position to succeed if he can step up his game. (7) CALLMEBIGPAPI has proven capable of keeping up in fast miles and he is not out of his element versus this bunch.
Race 8: Kindergarten 2YO C&G Pace - Pick 5
(5) ROSE RUN COWBOY had more than his line shows in qualifier #1 and uncorked a big response in the stretch in his most recent Gaitway qualifier. Huntsville colt gets the narrow call over (7) WISHAWAVE on the potential value angle since that one’s lines look more visually pleasing on paper. Bettor’s Wish colt was allowed to stride out but not shown the whip in start one and absolutely cruised on his own last time. There’s some ability here and he’s a must-use on your multi-race tickets. (1) AMERICAN LOU hasn’t done anything “wrong” in his two qualifiers but didn’t look quite as sharp as the top pair. I couldn’t fault you for taking a chance with him. (3) STARSTRUCK DREAMER edged by professionally in his second start and a step forward tonight is certainly possible.
Race 9: Non-winners $15,000 (NW L2 $16,500) in last 5 or 10 (NW L2 11) races-$185,000 life/TM 89 (NW L2/2L4 90/91) or less - $50K GTD Pick 4
(7) ODDS ON WILDFIRE seems to be coming off a lackluster effort but that field he took on at Pocono was salty indeed. It also wouldn’t be the first time this guy was coming off a seemingly dull line and perked up here. He owns a stellar 5-3-2-0 record on this oval. (1) BEST CHIP has turned into a killer at age 4 and has proven that he handles this level. (2) CAPTAIN CRUSADER A returns here in a higher condition but seems to be up to the task.
Race 10: Kindergarten 2YO Filly Trot
(2) HL KAPARA was never asked late in a very nice performance in her lone qualifier. While I expect a conservative steer tonight, this daughter of Chapter Seven could be the value play due to her slower time in that mile. Looking into the pedigree, this is the mare’s first foal but the second dam was able to produce Tactical Moni (1:50 3/5). (3) CITY OF LIGHT won her first qualifier and was gaining every step late in her narrow defeat last time. Mom Altar won in 1:50 3/5, so the nature speed is in the blood. (5) EXQUIS was better in her first qualifier than her second when I thought she hung a bit. That said, it seems likely she’ll be pushing off the gate and in prime position to succeed. (4) SPECIAL ORCHID has displayed some life at the end of both of her morning miles.

Race 11: Kindergarten 2YO C&G Pace
Here is another opportunity where ignoring the final times could lead to a score at nice odds. (2) NIGHT AGENT angled wide late in his lone mile and powered past the leaders under some light asking. Captaintreacherous-sired half-brother to $1.7 million winner Perfect Sting might have more ability than it seems with a quick glance. (4) STONEBRIDGE BLITZ won his first start in-hand but got nailed late in start two. Of course that second mile will look more impressive if Rose Run Cowboy impresses in race eight. (7) STEAMBOAT WILLIE has finished with some late energy in both qualifiers and he could be a sneaky player if the pace and flow work out. (1) SCARY TERRY is off a mile that is going to attract a lot of attention, but to me he seemed all in and others may have more upside.
Race 12: Trackmaster 80.5 (NW L2 82.5) or less
(7) BEAT COP got a bit of class relief last week but was saddled with post 10 and had no chance. He deserves another look this time around at another good price. (3) CAVEMAN A could be the chalk here getting Bartlett in the bike; clear contender. (4) GLOWING LOU is another getting a much better post this week. He doesn’t show any recent success in this class but should be put in play.
