MEET STATS: 279-99-56-35 / $550.80 (-$7.20) BEST BETS: 20-13-3-2 / $49.60 (+$9.60) SPOT PLAYS: 20-6-4-2 / $43.00 (+$3.00) BEST BET: CONVERSANO (3rd) SPOT PLAY: CATTLESHARK (12th) Race 1: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace - Pick 5 (2) YAYAS HOT SPOT finds the softest spot he has seen in some time and I expected Yogi will get very aggressive. (5) HARRY HANOVER was sixth most recently but could’ve been third as he got passed very late. He’s another that should show speed and be a major player. (9) CHIP WALTHER and (10) BRAZEN BRAZILIAN are both capable horses that need some luck from difficult posts. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO Filly Trot - Survivor 7 (3) BOUQUET had tons of company leaving the gate from post eight at Pocono and was forced to take way back past the quarter to find the pylons. Walner filly finished up the mile willingly and should enjoy a better spot behind the gate. (4) R CHARM picked up her game in start two as she chased home a nice youngster in Kendra; big player. (6) WALLIES DOLLY really hasn’t turned in a bad mile but last week it all came together for a win. Any 2-year-old trotter with 26 closing speed has a chance. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO Filly Trot (5) CONVERSANO came into her debut mile off a very impressive qualifier but wound up racing from behind through moderate fractions at best and had no shot despite kicking home in 26 4/5. I’m expecting a big step up here. (4) VIEW FROM ABOVE had some sneaky good trot in her lone qualifier and might be an interesting price play. (2) XALAPA qualified well twice but seems likely to get a conservative steer. Race 4: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO C&G Trot - Pick 6 (2) YANNICK G KEMP could’ve pushed away off the gate but instead took back to last in his debut. I expect he’ll be sitting much closer here at good odds with a real chance to pull off an upset on (3) HIDALGO. The latter is undefeated but was very headstrong and to my eyes looked like he could break a couple of times He’ll probably win but is no bargain at 3-5 or less. (9) GO BOOM gave it a go and was second best to #3 a week ago. Maybe he moves forward off that mile. Race 5: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club Trot (2) FASHION CANTAB has a number of wins in this class and I’m not sure how he wasn’t favored last week. He should sit somewhat close and have a big shot. (3) BACARDI gets out of post 10 and should be on the move early. I don’t love him on the win end but a win isn’t out of the question. (7) LANDIA is sharp as they come and the pace could potentially set up in his favor if the flow is live. (4) LIONHEAD lured Yogi Sheridan off #3 and #10. Race 6: Non-winners 2 (NW L2 3) races or $25,000 life/Maidens draw inside - $50K GTD Pick 4 (7) REIGNING JADE looks a bit tough to play on paper but check on the competition she’s been keeping and notice that she’s certainly capable of a 1:50 mile. I’ll take a shot. (4) STONECOLDTREACHERY adds Lasix tonight and I like that she has some early speed in her arsenal. (2) GENIE HANOVER has a 1:50 2/5 win on her card and that’s certainly tops in this field. (1) WATCHING YOU should be ready after a string of qualifiers, the last including a 26 2/5 kicker. Race 7: Trackmaster 71 .5 (NW L2/2L4 72/72.5) or less (7) MASK ON MASK OFF picks up a catch-driver this week and that will make a huge difference. He only has one win on the year but note that came with Zeron in the bike. (2) HUNT YOU DOWN was done in by a slow pace last time and you can expect he’ll push away this week and try to stay closer with the more aggressive Miller taking over. (3) SKYWAY BILLY doesn’t win enough to really like on top but an exotic slot seems very likely to occur. Race 8: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO Filly Pace - Pick 5 There is no doubt in my mind that (8) RECKLESS ABANDON is the best filly in this race and it will just come down to whether she gets a reasonable trip. Last week she wound up in a tough spot and had to be shut down late as the inside path was closed. (6) EIGHTSEVENSIX took a shot first over and held well in her debut mile; more now? (5) BEQUEATH is the one to beat on paper but certainly not worth a short price. Race 9: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO C&G Trot (9) FLIGHTLINE has a tall task of overcoming post nine but did look every bit the part of a quality horse in his July 12 qualifier. This is the second foal from this mare and the first has already earned over $300K. (8) WARRIOR also did good work in the morning. The scratched-sick line is somewhat concerning but I assuming the connections will have him ready knowing that points are vital to make the final. (2) TACTICAL DYNASTY needs to get over the line first once before I’ll take less than 4-1 on him. Race 10: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO Filly Trot - $50K GTD Pick 4 (7) TORRISI brushed and held on for the victory in her debut. I’m not in love with her as the chalk but I’m just not sure if any of the rest are fast enough to win. (1) JERSEY SLIDE was third behind two nice fillies in her debut; moves forward tonight? (6) TACTICALLYSPEAKING has the early speed to make the top and could make a bit of noise here. Race 11: Trackmaster 68.5 (NW L2/L4 69/69.25) or less (9) DANDY IDEA has a win and a second in her last two starts in this class. The outside post isn’t ideal but she has just enough early speed to make it work. (6) DREAM PILLAR has also performed very well in this TM class; logical Pick 4 player. (5) JUST ROLLING gets a barn change a new driver; improves? (1) SWEET MOVES raced well here in her last start with a catch-driver. Race 12: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO C&G Pace (4) CATTLESHARK was done in by a slow pace in his career debut. Time to put him on the engine and pick up some valuable points in this NJSS series. (3) POWER CODE rated and sprinted upon arrival; big threat again. (6) TOM HORN raced well in defeat last time. He can be a player if he moves forward. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 13: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO C&G Trot (5) GENERAL KRONOS finished up nicely in his latest qualifier and a big step forward in his pari-mutuel debut is well within reach for a Noel Daley trainee. (8) JEFFREY J was impressive in his debut for the same barn; big threat. (9) HEY PORTER was sneaky good in his last qualifier and really took a step forward; post is a concern. Race 14: Trackmaster 68.5 (NW L2/2L4/L20 69/69.25/70.20) or less (4) PERSIMMON A was used hard returning from an almost 10-month break in action and not surprisingly tired badly. Nice driver change this week and that speed-tightening mile should make a big difference in a mostly blank field. (10) NEVER EASY Z TAM is by far the sharpest horse in this race and you simply have to use him on all tickets. (9) GOLD STAR YODER also makes his second start back from a layoff and perhaps he’ll show more.
