CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 267-87-55-46 / $485.60 (-$48.40) BEST BETS: 20-7-7-1 / $26.40 (-13.60) SPOT PLAYS: 20-6-5-2 / $41.40 (+$1.40) BEST BET: IN RANGE (12th) SPOT PLAY: LOVEDBYTHEMASSES (9th) Race 1: 2-Year-Old Colts & Gelding - Pick 5 (6) PEBBLE BEACH qualified brilliantly and then went to Northfield for Sire Stakes and was driven like he was Somebeachsomewhere. Ultimately despite some issues on the final turn when he got steppy, he turned in a sharp effort and clearly has ability. (5) RIVER NESS looked good in his debut and shouldn't be downgraded from scratching out of the eight-hole at Yonkers. (7) CAVIART CAMDEN snapped off a 1:51 4/5 mile in his career debut after getting a pretty good trip. I'm not sure I want him as the favorite quite yet. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: NJ Sire Stakes Consolation 2YO Colt Trot (4) WALL OF MONI got in a bit tight with the horse to his inside on the first turn and made a break to start his career. Don't let that line deter you as this guy has ability. (7) LAWS OF MOTION stayed trotting last week, which was a very good sign. He's fast enough to win if he behaves. (2) JACK RABBIT SLIMS kept up in a pretty quick mile last week and wouldn't be a shock here. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: Non-winners 2 (NW L3 3) or 3YOF NW4 races or $35,000 life/Maidens draw inside - Survivor 7 (3) MATERIAL GIRL wasn't going very far from post 9 after missing three weeks while facing much better. This looks like the perfect spot to show early speed. (2) ROBERTS HANOVER has two solid efforts sandwiched by a break this year. He should be a factor. (6) AUNT IRENE finished last with hobbles added but seemed to take a step in the right direction with a 27 1/5 final quarter. There is some longshot appeal here. Race 4: 2-Year-Old Filly Trot (1) LILBITALEXIS put together a strong second qualifier at Philly while under her own power late and seems to catch a softer field here. The inside post isn't ideal, but this Walner filly seems to have some ability and is a half-sister to Jack Fire, who earned $186K as a 2-year-old. (5) MONIMOVESMOUNTAINS was a decent second behind a well-bred game winner in her lone morning effort. First foal from No Luck No Moni deserves a look on the track. (9) JOVIALITY S rolled to an easy Sire Stakes win at Saratoga and could be a heavy favorite now. I worry that if she doesn't fly off the gate that she'll never get into the race. Race 5: Non-winners $6,000 (NW L2 $6,775) in last 5/NW3500L5 or TM 81.13 or less draw inside (6) SKYWAY KON MAN drops multiple classes and while he doesn't show much form, logic states that he'll wake up. (1) HOCKEY HANOVER reunites with Gingras and should find plenty of early speed. (8) MARION GONDOLIER isn't the best horse in the race but does have some early zip of his own. He might be able to get position and sneak into the exotics. (10) CHIPLOSIVE is one of the better horses stuck in an impossible post for the fourth straight week. Race 6: $200,000 NJ Sire Stakes 2YO Colt & Gelding Final - $50K GTD Pick 4 This is about as talented a group of 2-year-old trotting colts as you can find. (2) BULLY BOY HILL was fast off the gate and kicked in late with very good trot after taking a bit of a shuffle. In a field with plenty of early speed, this son of Muscle Hill can bide his time and pounce. (7) TEMPORAL HANOVER has been on the track four times and never lost; that's saying something. Walner-sired colt deserves much respect. (1) LOOKS LIKE MONI didn't beat much in his only career start but he did win very impressively. First foal from a $501K-earning mare could be anything at this point. (3) KING OF THE NORTH is also perfect in four trips to the track but seems vulnerable as the potential favorite. Race 7: 2-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Trot (7) PAYMAQ chased better foes but finished willingly enough in the mile. Walner colt seems to be in the right spot here. (4) FAST AS THE WIND has done some good things in the morning despite a pair of seconds lately. He's worth a look. (1) THERESNOLIMIT S has early speed and some experience. Race 8: NJ Sire Stakes Consolation 2YO Filly Trot - Pick 6 (2) I’M HAPPY HANOVER has finished nicely in each of her races and is clearly in a much softer spot tonight. This $200,000 yearling purchase is perfectly spotted for a win. (10) BLUE SKIES SHINING has the early speed to make the top and a wire-to-wire win is well within her reach. (9) DISCLOSURE was hopelessly trapped in the pocket last Friday and never had a chance to stretch her legs. (8) RIDING HIGH is another who has displayed some late trot and could be a player if Gingras can get her into the action early enough. Race 9: Non-winners $17,500 in last 5 or 9 races life/NW9000-12500 draw inside (6) LOVEDBYTHEMASSES started from post 10 and rallied nicely from that impossible spot two weeks ago. That was his first start on Lasix. While he stays in the same class on paper, this is clearly a softer bunch overall. (7) THE VETERAN was perhaps aimed too high in the Crawford Trot. He'll certainly be heading to the front here and is probably the horse to beat. (2) JUSTLIKEHIM takes a giant step up the class ladder but was impressive in victory last time. Race 10: $200,000 NJ Sire Stakes 2YO Filly Final - $50K GTD Pick 4 (5) VENERABLE was provided every excuse for a loss last week when the pace was slow in front of her and another horse pulled off the cones and blocked her path for no reason. Walner filly looks to be quite poised and has a perfect post tonight. (6) DELILAH HANOVER took a big step forward in her second start, leaving for position and simply grinding down a nice filly in #2. She looks to be the best option of the Muscle Hill fillies, though certainly not the only one. (8) RAISED BY LINDY has to be given some credit, not only for flashing speed at both ends of her mile in victory, but also for being able to pass up the inside, which some 2-year-olds don't do well. She's a price-play option. Race 11: TrackMaster Rating 75.20 to 78.67/AE: NW 1 race in 2021 with TM less than 79.87 (4) TRICK CARD raced evenly in his first start for this barn and gets a big driver change to Sears now. (6) MR MCDREAMY bumped up in class last time and was second behind a strong favorite. Seven-year-old is feeling good now. (1) MARVALOUS ONE hasn't been able to get over the top while racing much better in recent weeks. I wouldn't take a short price on him, but he's clearly in the win conversation. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 12: Winners 2-4 (NW L3 6) races or $50,000 life (7) IN RANGE raced his eyeballs out to be third from post eight in some rainy and windy conditions at Yonkers last time. This guy is in better form than it looks and this seems like the time to stretch his legs on the big track just two weeks out from the Hambletonian eliminations. (6) BELLA BELLINI has been spectacular this year and is arguably the Hambletonian Oaks favorite. She's a big threat here but seems likely to get a more conservative drive. (5) JOHAN PALEMA looks great on paper but still has something to prove on the big track. Race 13: TrackMaster Rating 81 to 85 (2) LADY LOU isn't one of my favorite horses at 4-for-34 lifetime, but she seems to have landed in a good spot this week. I'll roll the dice. (7) BEST HONEY HANOVER was used hard to make the front and paid the price last Friday. She can do better with a slightly more favorable trip. (8) SWEET LUCY LOU was a big disappointment as the 3-5 chalk last time. She has no early speed and an outside post tonight; bad combination. (4) PONDER THE ODDS ships in from Yonkers and appears to be getting a bit of class relief; maybe.
