First foal from $3.5 million winner Atlanta seems to have at least some ability. (7) WALLIES DOLLY probably faced a better overall group in her career debut and she did show trot at both ends of that mile. (1) SPICY NICE has two good qualifiers under her belt and is well-bred being a daughter of Maven and a half-sister to Pretender ($807K). [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: Trackmaster 71.5 (NW L2/2L4 72/72.5) or less - Survivor 7 (6) ROCKABILLY CHARM certainly hung last week but in all fairness the horse that beat him is simply better. This field came up very soft and Jamieson should be hustling him to the top. (3) HUNT YOU DOWN is far and away the sharpest horse in the field. (2) ITS ROCKIN RANDY moves to the inside of the gate this week after failing to fire on the class drop last time; deserves a second chance. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO C&G Trot When you see a bunch of 2-year-old with clear ability it is always best to look for the value play and that’s where I land here. (4) DON’T ASK FOR MORE has the slowest times of the contenders but more importantly made two moves last time and strode out very nicely full of trot. He’s a full brother to 2-year-old 1:53 1/5 winner Pick Pocket. (2) MOUNTCASTLE responded very well when asked in his lone qualifier and this barn tends to send them out ready to roll. (3) GETASTARFROMTHESKY beat #2 in his last qualifier and looked good doing it. Driver change here to Tetrick likely means an underlay in terms of price. Race 4: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO C&G Pace - Pick 6 (2) CATTLESHARK went an absolutely sparkling mile of 1:54 4/5 at Philly last time with a 26 3/5 kicker under absolutely no asking. That was a WOW performance from a $5,000 yearling purchase, though as a first foal from the mare this guy is eligible to be anything. (6) MANOLETE stepped up his game and just missed to a very nice 2-year-old last time. He’s clearly a big threat to the top pick. (4) MCCUSKER lured Zeron in his career debut and was just even. I expect we’ll see more this time. Race 5: Trackmaster 77.5 (NW L2/2L4/2L6 78/78.5/79.25) or less (4) HERS HUNGRY went a big mile in defeat last weekend and should have an easier time here moving more to the inside of the gate. (5) QUICK FIRE had a bit more go on the end with Lasix added. Three-year-old filly may be winless on the year and facing older but she can play with this group. (3) POWERED BY MACH was handled aggressively and just couldn’t hack it last Friday. Miller will be a bit more patient here and perhaps get her a smooth trip. (9) FLAMBOYANCE will be firing to the top and can certainly get a board spot. Race 6: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO Filly Trot - $50K GTD Pick 4 (3) CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS bested a nice foe in Kendra in her debut mile and if she comes close to repeating that performance this race is likely over. (2) LADY LANDIA blew by to win on her own late in her lone qualifier. There should be nice improvement coming. (4) CONVERSANO was certainly impressive in her most recent qualifier and note that she’s a full sister to $866K winner Celebrity Bambino, who was the mares only other foal to race thus far. Race 7: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace (6) MACHLICIOUS is perhaps not as sharp as I would like despite finishing second last time, but it is hard to argue with the fact that he projects to be loose on the lead here without much company. (5) MASK ON MASK OFF is in a soft spot because of the way the post position assignments worked out. He can play with these given a decent trip. (9) GAZOO won by 12 in his last MADC1 try; obvious contender. (10) WHAMMER JAMMER is very capable but handicapped by a bad post. Race 8: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO C&G Trot - Pick 5 (2) HILDAGO took care of business in his first start and he is an obvious threat to repeat at short odds. (8) GO BOOM finished up very willingly in his qualifiers and if he drew inside I might’ve taken a shot with him in the top spot. (7) PRECISE LANDING comes to town with early speed and it is nice to see the trainer reach out for Zeron to drive; unknown quantity. Race 9: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO C&G Trot (2) WARRIOR finished up very willingly behind a nice trotter who won at first asking. Let’s give him the narrow call over fellow Ake Svanstedt trainee (4) NORDIC CATCHER S, who absolutely coasted to the easiest of wins last time with an impressive 26 3/5 final quarter. While his siblings haven’t done much, it is worth noting that all of them were pacers; hmmm. (7) CABELLO followed a green horse and kept up when tipped wide for the stretch drive. First foal from a mare who earned $414K could be a sneaky price play. Race 10: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO C&G Pace - $50K GTD Pick 4 (3) POWER CODE blew out a big mile up in Canada in his lone pari-mutuel start and seems to catch a very soft group here. (6) MASTER OF THE HOUSE gapped much of the mile but closed in nicely when it mattered in his lone qualifier. The outside post won’t help but at least it is a short field. (2) FLOOR IT FREDDIE should’ve won his last qualifier. That has me shying away here even though he looks competitive on paper. Race 11: Trackmaster 77.5 (NW L2/2L4 78/78.5) or less (5) T DOG lands in a decent spot where there is plenty of early speed in the field to set him up. I’ll take a shot at a price. (4) FERRAGAMO HANOVER is more than capable if he elects to pace the mile. (6) BAILEYS ROCK N came up with a career best mile after chasing a hot early pace. Can he repeat that performance? Miller did choose here over #4. (3) MUSCLE FACTORY A has plenty of form and only needs a reasonable trip to menace. Race 12: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO Filly Pace (1) RECKLESS ABANDON has a gold star on my trip notes list from her baby races. Last time she was kept on hold until being asked late and was loaded while under a big hold late. Cattlewash filly from the family of multi-millionaire Rocklamation looks like the real deal for one of the best trainers around. (8) BEQUEATH lost to a very talented filly in Ascendance in her career debut. Don’t hold that against her. (3) EIGHTSEVENSIX has improved with every trip to the track and at least she is comfortable on the lead. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 13: NJ Sire Stakes 2YO Filly Trot (3) KENDRA had the looks of a very talented filly during the morning and then got unlucky to sit the pocket behind another fast youngster in her debut. Expect her to be on the engine her and headed down the road. (2) SWOOP was well within herself in her first qualifier and strode out nicely with just light whip taps last time. Walner filly seems to have some ability. (6) SANTA CATERINA got away a bit slowly but kept up afterwards in her lone qualifier. She could get a piece here at fair odds. Race 14: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club Trot (1) EMPEREURTHEBEST FR went a brutal trip last week while used very hard. Let’s give him one last try from a post where he can’t get parked. (3) FASHION CANTAB is certainly the most reliable horse in this field; one to beat. (2) ARCHIBALD gets a new driver and if he is patient things just might work out nicely.
