CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 134-43-26-23 / $253.60 (-$14.40) BEST BETS: 10-2-4-1 / $6.40 (-13.60) SPOT PLAYS: 10-3-4-1 / $33.40 (+$13.40) BEST BET: WESTERN REDHOT (2nd) SPOT PLAY: SUDDEN CHANGE (8th) Race 1: GSY Amateur Drivers - Pick 5 (6) ALLGONOWHOA moves out of a 3-for-52 barn and seems to land in a very soft spot for a very capable amateur driver. I'll take the short price. (1) MAYFIELD DUKE seems likely to find early speed in this spot for another good amateur driving for a high-percentage barn. (3) BIG SWEEP OSBORNE has been on the wrong side of the gate and getting away slowly. If Stillwell can get him in position with a good trip he can seemingly upset. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: $10,000 Claiming (3) WESTERN REDHOT is ultra-consistent in this class and seems likely to get claimed again, so expect a top effort. (6) DEERFIELD BEACH has been racing well since the claim and only needs to right trip to be a major factor. (5) IDEAL SON has been bad since the claim and now drops $2,500 below that price; wakes up? [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: GSY Amateur Drivers - Survivor 7 (1) GREY rolled down the road last time and seems to have found himself for new trainer Andrew Harris. (3) INUKCHUK CHUCK wasn't going anywhere from outside posts at Freehold. He's back on the big track now and might show some early speed. (8) SHADY MCCOY probably needs some luck from the outside post, but he could also improve for the new barn. (4) LIFE WELL LIVED seems to be getting some class relief but I'm not sold on this guy as the potential favorite. Race 4: Winners 0-2 races lifetime (3) GOODASHIM took care of business in his 2021 debut and looks to rate best here unless one of these youngsters awakens. (7) RATTLE MY CAGE is back with his age group this week and could perk back up. (6) BROADWAY DON has big speed and wouldn't be a complete shock on the win end here; maybe check for equipment changes. Race 5: GSY Amateur Drivers (2) A BETTOR BEACH has been stuck in some fast miles lately and the switch to this condition should provide him with confidence. (8) KINGOFTHEJUNGLE put in another big mile last week; one to beat. (5) RISKY MILLION got away slowly and lost all chance a week ago. He’s worth a look in his second start for this barn. (6) STOP ACTION is a tricky read on paper since it is hard to decide how his Monticello races fit here. Race 6: TrackMaster Rating 77 to 81 or less - $50K GTD Pick 4 (9) ASTAIRE comes in sharp and enters a good barn. This guy has the early speed needed to overcome the outside draw at a decent price. (1) TOLLY-HO looks like the obvious chalk after a strong win first-out for this barn. (7) LUCK N ROLL K shows some very competitive miles over this surface in late April/May. (6) WAR DRUMS didn't fire in his first start for Hernandez but now gets a big wakeup with Gingras jumping in the bike. Race 7: $7,500 Claiming (4) BUGGER BRUISER didn't fire in his first start over the track from an outside post against a tougher group. Class drop here to the 7500 level should help wake him up. (7) HYPOTHETICAL gets a monster driver change and has a touch of class. (2) GYPSY LEATHER performed ok in his first start for this barn and now moves back down to the level of the claim. Race 8: TrackMaster 73.5 to 78.77 (NW L2 79.95) or less - Pick 6 (7) SUDDEN CHANGE N drops in class and all the power is to her outside. You have to think Gingras will be firing hard off the gate here. (9) MILADY DENVER A is another moving down the class ladder and she has posted wins here each of the last two years. (8) LITTLE HONEYBADGER comes off a very easy win and perhaps that will instill some confidence. Race 9: Non-winners $6,000 in last 5/TM 81.50 or less/Winners NW3500 or less LS or 1 race in 2020/21 (8) WINGDING HANOVER gets the class relief she needs to find her form for a top barn. (4) DARKRSHADEOFPALE N comes out of the same race as the top pick and is another who could perk up against softer company. (6) GOTTALOVEMYSHADOW is plenty sharp and has valuable early speed as well. (10) SWIFT ALLY hasn't won in years but seems to be coming around if her last effort is any indication. Race 10: Winners 4-7 races life or $11,500 in last 5 - $50K GTD Pick 4 (1) DANCINGINTHEDARK M is almost certainly going to take a conservative approach early in the mile in his first start as a 3-year-old, but this barn does tend to send them out ready to win and he’s loaded with talent. (2) NYLANDER seems to be finding himself as 4-year-old and lands in a decent spot here. (3) MEMO has a tactical edge and should be firing hard off the wings of the gate. Whether he can win will likely depend on how soft his fractions are on the engine. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 11: Non-winners $3,500 (NW L3 $3,850) in last 5 (3) LEXUS WITH A VIEW A was very disappointing last week. He simply isn't that bad and deserves a second look against an even softer field. (4) CLIFFHANGER has a breaking issue but is also getting class relief and is fast enough to blow this field away with a top effort. (2) FORVERNALWAYS hasn't been very good but the rest of the field isn't inspiring either. Race 12: Winners 0-2 (NW LS 3) or $20,000 life (7) OFF THE RECORD has been disappointing in two starts at Pocono but perhaps she just needs the big track. Always B Miki-sired filly showed some promise last year and really doesn't face the most imposing group for this class. (4) SOUTHWIND XENA had some issues in the Weiss but seems to have those straightened away after a sharp qualifier. I could see her surprising here. (5) NORTHERN STORM has posted two solid efforts to start the year. Race 13: Non-winners $3,500 (FM $3,800) in last 5/TM 80.75 or less (3) FASHION CREDITOR doesn't exactly face the easiest group for this class, but when he drops to this level and draws inside the results are usually very good. (4) IT AINT THE WHISKEY drops out of the same race as the top pick and finished way in front of him. (2) OBERTO was second in this condition last time and don't be shocked if he shows early speed here. (7) MY BOY CHRISTIAN gets a barn change and could hit the board at monster odds.
