Meadowlands: Analysis for Friday 6/25

Matt Rose|Jun 23, 2021
Meadowlands logo (new)

MEET STATS: 0 – 0 / $0.00

Best Bet: IDEATION HANOVER (10th)

Spot Play: SUNSHINE HALL (13th)

Race 1: Winners of 2 but not more than 4 races or $50,000 lifetime Trot - Pick 5

(1) COLONIAL AS IT has taken four of five at Philly to begin his career, and those last two efforts were particularly impressive. Engblom trainee gives up a bit of a seasoning edge on his rivals here but note he lures Gingras for the drive before he heads off to Yonkers. (3) SONOFAMISTERY took a life mark last out with his 1:51 2/5 score over this surface in a 3YO Open event two weeks ago and he's well-spotted here to repeat, perhaps from just off the pace. (4) BEE FOREVER has been well handled by Vic Kirby throughout his career, despite another miscue in a winning effort last out over the smaller track. Generally he's been well-mannered over the Big M surface, however.

Race 2: NW2 races lifetime Trot

(1) ETHICS is lightly raced for Andy and Julie Miller but he put in probably the best race of his young career last out and he seems capable of building off that effort, especially in this field full of question marks. (4) KILDARE KING has regressed in his last two after a promising start to his season, but he has been facing tougher competition. (9) ALTAR added the hobbles for her 3-year-old season but they haven't seemed to help. Maybe getting Dave Miller in the bike will help this Takter-trained filly.

Race 3: GSY Amateur Trot - Survivor 7

(3) FIJI raced well here two starts back at a big price despite drifting in the stretch and this veteran has been a steady performer for Offenberg seemingly forever. He can rally past them with a smooth trip. (8) SOUTHWIND FROST is back in the amateur ranks after blowing away a NW3500 class last week at odds-on. He'll likely be on the move early and can last a long way if not too roughed up. (5) THERESADEMONINME hasn't shown much recently up at Saratoga facing higher-conditioned foes but maybe the change in scenery helps.

Race 4: $7,500-$10,000 Claiming Pace

(4) ALWAYS A FORCE powered home in :26 3/5 from a similar spot last week and he set a new lifetime mark in the process. Sharp sort is certainly capable of repeating. (5) MISTER HAT drops back in for a tag after failing to fire last out and he'll likely offer some value with the young Braxton Boyd picking up the drive. (7) GYPSY LEATHER tired badly last week but his prior three efforts for this barn were solid and it wouldn't surprise me if the veteran bounced back with a better effort.

Race 5: GSY Amateur Pace

(5) ALBERT A SCOOTIN is zero for 22 and counting this year but overall this field has a dismal win percentage. He's been doing most of his work over the smaller tracks but he seems like a good fit with these; Roy Marohn gets in the bike from a good starting spot. (4) TITUS SEELSTER had good speed at both ends last week and the competent Joe Lee gets the drive. (2) RISKY MILLION took money in his last two Amateur events but flattened in both. He can hit the ticket with a ground-saving drive.

Race 6: F&M NW6000 in last 5 starts Pace - $50K Guaranteed Pick-4

(7) WINGDING HANOVER could not sustain a second move last week after taking a bit of a shuffle but George Napolitano, Jr. gets the return drive tonight and overall he's done good things when driving for the Cullipher barn. I suspect she'll be on the move early tonight. (3) BEST HONEY HANOVER dropped to this level last out and showed up with an improved effort; Quevedo has two in here (#1 as well) that both figure to be prominent. (1) GOTTALOVEMYSHADOW was in too tough in her last two but was solid in this class three and four back.

Race 7: NW3500 in last 5 starts Pace

(9) MCNULTY Z TAM circled and rallied well from too far back last week facing better and now he drops into a bit softer conditioned field. Dube picks up the drive and I suspect we'll see some early speed. (4) DE LOS CIELOS DEO obviously has the talent to blow this field away as he drops in class but he won't be offering much value. (8) BRANQUINHO makes his first start in over four months coming off a decent qualifier where the winner was timed in under 1:50; Schnittker trainee is accustomed to facing better.

Race 8: $12,500-$17,500 Claiming Handicap Pace

(8) TJ BLAST figures to do just that and blast off the gate; he's just 1 for 22 on the season but always seems to be right there. I like Napolitano picking up the drive. (4) BETTOR NOTBITTER A goes back to the Quevedo barn (as one of three from that barn in this race) off the reclaim and he's done good work for this outfit. (6) GRANDPA DON returns to The Meadowlands off two consecutive eight holes and a prior effort where he was roughed up in an amateur event. Overall though he hasn't been that bad and he figures to be a nice price.

Race 9: TM Rating 78.50 or less as of 6/22 Pace

(6) DAVIDS COMING HOME was quickly reclaimed by the Capone barn and put in a solid effort in defeat; gelding deserves top billing coming off that race. (3) BUGGER BRUISER goes for another new barn (Quevedo) off the claim and moves into the TM conditions; he's been right there in most of his recent races. (7) JUST WAVE GOODBYE was put on the front end last week and tired late; he's better rallying from off the pace.

Race 10: F&M NW9000 in last 5 starts Pace - $50K Guaranteed Pick-4

(5) IDEATION HANOVER came up a nose shy last week in a big multiple-move effort; Cullipher trainee gets G Nap in the bike tonight and the mare appears way overdue. (2) CAVIART AUDREY makes her second seasonal start after a solid two-year-old campaign and she lures Gingras back to drive. Will we see a more aggressive effort coming? (6) STAYCATION HANOVER is another nice-looking youngster and Jack Pelling gets the drive, which will help the price.

Race 11: TM Rating 73.5 or less as of 6/22 Pace

(8) RIGGINS ART may be at a bit of a tactical disadvantage having drawn outside his main competition but he's been showing live moves of late and should offer some value in a race that's tough to get excited about. (6) DEPENDLEBURY A has been showing good finishing speed when not in too tough. (3) MR MCDREAMY is a consistent sort that has finished second and third in his last two starts versus similar; he should come away with another good piece tonight.

[DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!]

Race 12: 3&4YO F&M Winners of 1 but not more than 3 races lifetime Pace

(1) JM BETONSIX is still a maiden at 0 for 11 and counting but the Andrew Harris trainee is getting closer to tasting victory. She could have a bit of a tactical edge from this draw. (6) OFF THE RECORD sat a comfortable trip to beat the top one last start but she may have to work a bit harder tonight. (5) INDUSTRIAL HEMP makes just her third lifetime start for Jenn Bongiorno and hasn't been seen for over three weeks but clearly there's some ability there.

Race 13: F&M NW3500 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) SUNSHINE HALL put in a solid effort in defeat here two back facing better, then got lost at the back at Yonkers in one of their rugged NW age-restricted events. Assuming she's good to go in her local return and can replicate that prior effort, she can be tough in here. (4) SPECIAL ACHIEVER acclimated nicely last week when arriving from Monticello and can have more to offer tonight. (8) BE BEST has some speed and has been competitive with better recently.
