Meadowlands: Analysis for Friday 6/12

Meadowlands logo (new)

CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 0-0 / $0.00
BEST BETS: 0-0 / $0.00
BEST BET:
INFINITI AS (4th)
SPOT PLAY: THE VETERAN (9th)

Race 1: Non-winners 1 race or $7500 life - **$40K GTD Pick 5**

(3) BLUFFINNER catches a soft group and Trond Smedshammer usually has them ready when they hit the track. Notice that he beat Breeders Crown winner Amigo Volo in his lone qualifier. (1) BRONZE YANKEE comes off a qualifier in a slow time that will scare some away, but a 28 3/5 final quarter at Goshen is nothing to sneeze at. Many horses improve from age 2 to 3 and I'm not tossing this guy without taking a good look at him in the post parade. (2) TAKE THE CREDIT didn’t show much in his qualifier, but this barn is adept at having them ready off the bench.

Race 2: Non-winners 1 race or $7500 life

If you watched either of (7) PARTY GIRL HILL’s qualifiers, you had to come away impressed. This daughter of Captaintreacherous appears to have serious talent and the only question is whether she will be handled extra-cautiously in her career debut. (3) DISCOFORADOLLAR displayed a nice new dimension when leaving in her second qualifier at Gaitway, but was quite green on the backstretch. I would be more inclined to back her on Friday if I see good behavior on the track and perhaps some equipment changes. (4) KISSIMMEE BEACH qualified back well versus a nice filly in Baby Your the Best. She will need to show more here, but that seems possible.

Race 3: Winners 1-3 races life

(3) PANEM was seriously motoring home in her qualifier back on May 30. Father Patrick daughter seems to have ability and hails from a barn that seemingly can't lose right now. (8) HEAVEN flashed speed at both ends of the mile in her 2020 debut. She dealt with traffic in the stretch and finished up nicely. Even better, she should offer some value with heavy-hitters in the field. (10) HALL OF AM S came from nowhere to be third in her qualifier and is another with unlimited potential. That said, I expect a conservative approach from post 10 tonight; charging hard late. (5) SORELLA qualified well behind NYSS champion Hypnotic AM and seems likely to be forwardly placed here.

Race 4: Non-winners $5,000 in last 5 - **$6,843 Pick 6 Carryover**

(6) INFINITI AS qualified back sharply and lands in a very soft spot. Unless 12-year-old (2) ZOOMING taps into the class that made him a millionaire, I don't see a horse in the field that beats the top pick. (3) CARTIER ZETTE wasn't bad down at Pompano. He has a shot at hitting the number with a good trip from Sears.

Race 5: Non-winners 2/3 races or $25,000/$30,000 life

(4) BEADS cruised along on the engine in his qualifier and was never asked. New trainer Per Engblom seems to have this guy figured out and you have to like that he'll be on the lead while others may take a more conservative approach. (7) CHESTNUT HILL is a horse I've always felt had talent. Whether or not he'll be handled aggressively or if he's ready for a peak effort . . . big question marks. I'll be watching in the post parade. (9) FIFTY CENT PIECE did nothing wrong in his qualifier. Half-million-dollar Harrisburg purchase could be worth a play if the price is right. (5) ARCLIGHT HANOVER dug in very gamely in his Gaitway qualifier and I like that he has a pair of morning efforts under his belt.

Race 6: Non-winners $7,500 in last 5 - **$50K GTD Pick 4**

(8) JB'S SHOOTING STAR is very comfortable at this NW7500 level and that sixth-place qualifier was actually better than it looks. She came home in 26 second versus some killers. (7) MY RUEBE STAR N starts her journey on these shores along with 'Team Tritton'. That qualifier at Goshen looks strong, as a few did very well off that angle last weekend. (6) CHARLOTTE ROYAL N is another Down Under import coming off a decent qualifier. This barn fired with a couple of winners last weekend.

Race 7: Non-winners $7,500 in last 5/$20,000CLM

(1) FASHION CREDITOR had two qualifiers to prepare for his first start since March. This veteran of the conditioned ranks hasn't been in this cheap since 2017 (he won) and he should be very tough. (6) HASHTAGMADEYALOOK trotted along at his own pace behind top trotter Homicide Hunter in his last qualifier. I expect him to be sharp in his first start for this good barn. (3) THE BIG MUSCLE was outrun in the morning qualifier, but he was facing some stiff competition that day.

Race 8: Non-winners $15,000 in last 5/$50,000Clm

(6) WARRIOR ONE was on quite a roll when last seen back in February and looked good in his qualifier for owner/driver Yannick Gingras. Four-year-old should be sent to the front and go a long way. (4) ALL AMERICAN N kept pace with two top-notch trotters in the qualifier last week, though he was a bit steppy. If he behaves, watch out! (5) GETTING MESSI did well in his qualifier and this barn picked up a win last week.

Race 9: Preferred

(4) THE VETERAN showed me something besting JL Cruze in that June 6 qualifier. This guy was always thought to be a long-term Open player and he seems to be on his way. (7) SOUTHWIND CHROME was super finishing second behind perhaps the best trotter in North America last week. He deserves to be the favorite in here and is tough to ignore for a barn that came out strong. (2) JL CRUZE isn't the same horse he was a few years back but can still step up with a big mile at any time. (6) MISSION ACCEPTED comes out of the same race as #7 and performed well; capable.

Race 10: Non-winners $10,000 in last 5 - **$40K GTD Pick 4**

(1) DON'T THINK TWICE A was second behind Warrawee Ubeaut in her qualifier, so that should have her tight for this race. Classy 7-year-old only needs a reasonable trip to have a big shot. (5) MISS YOU N went a big opening quarter and lacked the needed closing punch last weekend. She can be better now. (4) YOU SHOULD BE HERE rolled versus weaker but certainly deserves some consideration. (8) BYE BYE FELICIA was a solid second in this class a week ago.

Race 11: Non-winners $10,000 in last 5/$30,000Clm

(10) MARION GONDOLIER gets unlucky to draw post 10, but that means he should provide some value in a field without a standout. Seven-year-old has the early speed to make the top. (3) TROLLEY will win by open lengths if he shows up. I just don't have any faith in him. (9) CARRICK and (7) MAX VOLO both have a race under their belts and either could show a bit more now.

Race 12: Non-winners 4/5 races or $50,000/$60,000 life

I can be a sucker for the fastest horse in the race and (5) STRIP IT DOWN AS certainly qualifies. I watched intently to see if he displayed any signs of a break in his qualifier and saw nothing. Driver Tim Tetrick, who opted for a Melander horse, likely on barn loyalty, was seen looking down a lot in the stretch to watch his gait, so maybe we’ll see an equipment change. If he behaves, I think he wins. (2) MISSION HILL is another with talent but a habit of breaking. Perhaps both have matured over the winter. (7) REFINED should be put in play, but is he sharp enough? (3) HOLLYWOOD STORY is undefeated in two starts; fast enough?

Race 13: Non-winners 4/5 races or $50,000/$60,000 life

(10) MARLOE HANOVER takes on older and is stuck in post 10, but this third-place finisher from the Breeders Crown may just be too good to let those impediments get in her way. (5) PEAKY SNEAKY is another 3-year-old filly facing some older mares. She qualified well versus a very fast foe. (1) WINDSONG PARISIAN and (3) HP XANADU both kicked home well in their qualifiers and seems like worthwhile horses to consider in the exotics.
