Derick Giwner|May 26, 2021
Meadowlands logo (new)

CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 107-34-19-19 / $212.40 (-$1.60)

BEST BETS: 8-2-4-0 / $6.40 (-9.60)

SPOT PLAYS: 8-3-2-1 / $33.40 (+$17.40)

BEST BET: WET MY WHISTLE (8th)

SPOT PLAY: CUATRO DE JULIO (9th)

Race 1: GSY Amateur Drivers - Pick 5

(1) GRAND TETON was placed in a spot last Saturday where he couldn't win in a million years. Now in this amateur race he should have a huge shot if Glasser times his move right. (5) KINGOFTHEJUNGLE has big speed and good form, which he should keep for the new barn. (3) RISKY MILLION moves into a good barn and when they hook up with this driver (Beltrami) in the amateur races, the result is typically positive.

Race 2: NJ Sire Stakes Consolation - 3YO C&G

None of these really get the blood hot but (4) ZENITH STRIDE really should win if he shows up with a top effort. (6) MUSCLE DYNASTY took a nice step in the right direction last week when he finished well and didn't break. (2) TAKE THIS SOCIETY looked great two starts back and broke last time. A return to form puts him in the picture.

Race 3: Non-winners 2 (NW L2 3) races life/Maidens draw inside - Survivor 7

(5) TITANS HOPE took a step in the right direction by minding her manners last time out. Andrew McCarthy takes over now and he can be plenty aggressive without the risk of having to qualify if she miscues. (4) SEVEN NATION ARMY gets major class relief but wasn't exactly great when he was facing easier. (6) TEQUILA N ROSES has the early speed to make the front and could get brave.

Race 4: Non-winners 2 (NW L2 3) races life/Maidens draw inside

(5) AHUNDREDDOLLARBILL qualified back very nicely before getting scratched-sick last weekend. Hopefully the scratch line will help to improve the price in a wide-open field. (8) SWEEPING RAINBOW was a very professional winner last week and she only needs a reasonable trip to score again. (7) RATTLE MY CAGE blew them away a couple of weeks ago. Can he do it again? Make sure to get fair value. (2) SEVENSHADESOFGREY came home in 26 4/5 last time and can't be faulted for only finishing third.

Race 5: GSY Amateur Drivers

(6) THESPYWHOLOVEDME has been racing a bit better than his lines look on paper and Cano has proven himself capable in the amateur ranks. In a race that looks like a crapshoot, I'll roll the dice. (3) WAR DRUMS gets an interesting trainer change that could provide immediate results. (1) JERRYTONE has early speed and the cones; aggressive try very likely. (10) ROCKIN RAMBARAN is another with early speed and this could be the best horse in the race, but how much faith do you have in an amateur driver winning from post 10?

Race 6: Non-winners $9,000 (NW L3 $9,900) in last 5/TM 84.2 or less - $50K GTD Pick 4

(1) MAJOR OCCASION A has been chasing better foes of late and finishing willingly. Her form doesn't look great but you have to think she'll be put on the point here and given a chance to wire the field. (6) IDEATION HANOVER dropped and came up with a big mile in defeat last time. This field isn't so tough that she can't be right there. (2) MAJESTIC VIRGIN needs a ground-saving trip where she can slip free late and surge for the win. This seems like a decent spot to accomplish that lucky outcome.

Race 7: Winners 0-2 (NW L/S 3) races life

(4) ODDS ON WHITNEY didn't have quite as bad a trip as the line looks on May 19 since she was never out at the quarter, but she was very rank and eager, which could be helped by either an equipment adjustment or the switch to the big track tonight. She has upset potential here. (8) JK ALWAYSBALADY is clearly the horse to beat at what should be short odds, but she isn't known for her blazing gate speed and she only has 2 wins in 12 starts. (7) NORTHERN STORM raced well in her debut and could build on that performance.

Race 8: $200,000 NJ Sire Stakes 3YO Filly Final - Pick 6

(1) WET MY WHISTLE was my top pick in this series coming into the first leg and nothing has changed after a win. Now she adds Yannick and that should only improve her chances. (2) MATERIAL GIRL stepped up her game in a big way last time and anything close to that mile puts her in with a shot. (8) HOT AS HILL has proven she can take a little air. Now she'll have to find a bit of early speed to get her in play from post 8. (3) AWESOME TRIX has good speed and form but might not be fast enough to beat the top picks.

Race 9: $200,000 NJ Sire Stakes 3YO C&G Final

(7) CUATRO DE JULIO got a bit of an education mile in a race that he didn't need to win. Yeah, he took a bad step in the stretch and almost went down, but he also recovered well and gained late. The gloves should come off here and we'll see what he can do, possibly at a decent price. (2) LINDYSMUSCLEMANIA blazed a gigantic mile in his lone start of the year. If he can repeat that he'll give the top one all he can handle. (5) REALLY FAST hasn't done much wrong in his career but also couldn't go with #2 the last time they met.

Race 10: Winners 4-7 races or $75,000 life - $50K GTD Pick 4

(4) CHIN CHIN HALL somehow fits the conditions of this race and looks like a lock free space in the Pick 4. (6) NYLANDER is steadily improving each week. The question is whether he can take the next step to the level of #4. (3) MOON BRIDGE chased home some fast foes and kept up rather well last week. That mile should have him tight.

[DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!]

Race 11: Non-winners $6,000 in last 5/TM 81.50 or less/AE: NW $3,500 (NW L3 $3,850) or TM 80.3

As easy as race 10 looks on paper, that is how hard race 11 is to decipher. While I have no firm opinion here, (5) DIXIE STAR N switches to the big track and could enjoy it. (7) SUNDAY AFTERNOON has clearly been facing better at Pocono. (8) BE BEST almost comes out of a race where the top finishers would be favored here.

Race 12: NJ Sire Stakes Consolation - 3YO Fillies

(1) AUTUMN DEO got away slowly and lost all chance last time. This is a much weaker group overall and I expect Tetrick to put her in play. (7) BEAUTIFUL GAME showed some early speed but that cost her a late rally. She's as good as any in here. (2) THE QUEEN B gunned out last time and could try similar tactics.

Race 13: Non-winners $6,000 (NW L3 $6,800) in last 4/TM 82.18 or less

(5) DOUBLE ACCOUNT broke last week at 4-5 and is rewarded with a spot where there is no excuse for failure. (4) RESITA is coming into form and should be able to get a nice piece. (9) FASHION CREDITOR is at a level where he should be competitive, but this old guy tends to need an inside post. (10) IT AINT THE WHISKEY moves into a new barn and could improve.
