CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 56-19-7-8 / $95.80 (-$16.20) BEST BETS: 4-3-1-0 / $19.40 (+$11.40) SPOT PLAYS: 4-1-1-2 / $4.80 (-$3.20) BEST BET: MISS YOU JOANN (13th) SPOT PLAY: MR GRANT (8th) Race 1: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace - Pick 5 (4) GRACEFUL GALA went two solid races at Philly since moving into this barn. In both of those miles she was forwardly placed but I can see a change in tactics here in a race filled with potential early speed players. (1) URBAN RENEWAL was used very hard and paid the price last time. The inside post provides good options for a smoother trip and we do get the more accomplished Glasser brother. (6) BRAZEN BRAZILIAN has been picking up his game in recent weeks; needs a smoother trip. (3) JONAH was used hard last time; moves inside. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: Trackmaster 68 (NW L2 70) or less/NW 1 race life (5) COUNTRY DANCING was purchased online a couple of weeks ago for $21,000 and now makes her first start for this barn. Her 1:53 win as a 2-year-old at The Meadows is faster than any of these have ever gone, so there is certainly reason to believe she’s best in here if the Lasix from last start helped or new trainer Paul Fusco can figure her out. (6) MS FRANCES ASSISI added Lasix herself last time and perked up in a big way. (1) HOLD MY TIARA has some decent form on her card and she’s a sit and pounce candidate. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: Trackmaster 71 (NW L2 73) or less/NW $39,000 life - Survivor 7 All seemed fine for (4) R JEZZY in her Meadowlands debut as she left the gate and found a nice tuck. To me she wasn’t grabbing the wet track well on the backstretch and rolled into a break. Perhaps we’ll get an equipment or shoeing change here. Either way, she faced more talented foes last time and has only missed the board in races she broke. (3) CAMPBELLINI picks up Beckwith this week and he chose here over (6) EXPERT TUTOR, who improved dramatically with Lasix added in his first start for the new barn. Keep in mind that was his first race in four weeks; improvement possible. (9) HURRIKANE WILLIE G drops to the level of his last win. Can he make the front from this post? Race 4: Trackmaster 68 (NW L2/L4 70/70.29) or less (6) GEMINI EXPRESS probably went his best race in some time on May 10. He wasn’t great and is still winless on the year, but none of these stand out and he is dropping in company. (3) ROCKABILLY CHARM was a rather easy winner the last time at the TM68 level two starts back and he’s going to be the chalk tonight. (7) EVER M has speed and form but can’t seem to get over the top for a win. (8) MAJESTIC KIWI N didn’t do very well out of town but was second in a higher class here on April 5. Race 5: Trackmaster 74.5 (NW L2 76.82) or less/NW $43,000 life (7) POWERED BY MACH can fly off the gate and last week did just that. She wasn’t great off cover in the second half of the mile but did keep fighting in what was an improved effort. She may be getting good now. (4) CATNAP reunites with Ginsburg after a no-shot effort from post nine the week prior. (1) BETTE TINA was used to get the front and lacked a big kick in the stretch. Perhaps the pylon starting spot will make the trip a bit smoother. Race 6: Trackmaster 68 (NW L2/L4 70/70.29) or less - $50K GTD Pick 4 (3) A B COLLINS is a bit of a stretch at first glance considering he hasn’t won a race since 2023, but he’s dropping to the TM basement and his last quarters versus better show he can keep up and play with these. I’ll take a shot at what should be a very healthy price. (5) ROCKIN STANDO is another horse without many wins lately, in fact 2 in 45 lifetime starts. We get a big driver switch tonight and a much better post to work with this week. (4) COLE ON THE BEACH has finished third in two straight starts in this class. That makes him the sharpest horse in the field. (8) VEL LARRY is another horse getting a new driver and also class relief. Can this 1-for-47 barn get this guy over the top? Race 7: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace (5) WHAMMER JAMMER lands in a drop and pop spot. While his form doesn’t look spectacular, this group is more in his comfort zone and he’s a horse that can take some air if necessary. (8) ROJAN’S WAY went a huge mile while parked every step of the way last weekend. With a slightly smoother trip and a similar performance he’ll have a big shot. (4) QUEEN SUN RYSER was a runaway winner last time; adds a hot amateur pilot. (10) STORM THE COURT certainly hung a bit last time but it showed he can overcome post 10 to compete. Race 8: Trackmaster 74 (NW L2 76.50) or less/NW $2,400 in last 5 - Pick 6 (10) MR GRANT trotted in 1:53 in the NJ Classic last year and won as a 2-year-old in 1:55 3/5 over this track. Now 4, he lands in a soft spot and while one 2:02 line at Monticello hardly entices, he should drop a good six seconds on the track switch and driver change. (4) BACARDI blew away a softer field last time impressively and may just be able to handle the bump in company from this good post. (5) MONEY MATTERS took a step in the right direction a week ago and here he picks up a Hall of Fame driver. (1) GOOGOO EYES hasn’t been quite as sharp lately but his lines from April would certainly make him a major player in here. Race 9: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 2 Pace (4) SWINWITHTHECURRENT has been playing with better company and getting caught in 1:50 miles week after week. The one time he didn’t catch a fast race he won in 1:52 1/5. Burke trainee picks up a good driver to succeed. (9) GOOD ROCKIN can fire off the gate and did so last week in victory. Unfortunately he was dq’d, though I still haven’t seen conclusive evidence. 1) LYONS LIBERTY hasn’t been as good since getting claimed and leaving the amateur ranks. Can he find his form again back in MADC action? Race 10: Trackmaster 89.4 or less - $50K GTD Pick 4 (7) LOUISVILLE GB comes with a bit of a question mark having missed almost four weeks of action, but doesn’t his 11 wins in 15 starts the last two years stick out? He missed by just a neck here in his last start in this class. (6) PEMBROKE SOUTHIE returns from a longer layoff of more than six weeks. The return qualifier was pretty good when you consider she was chasing the Horse of the Year. (8) MY AUGUST MOON A is certainly capable versus this group. That said, it has been quite a few starts since she put in a top effort; needs best. (3) SANTAFE’S APPETITE will be sitting patiently hoping the trip works out. He’s not impossible on the win end. Race 11: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace (3) PHELGON has been dealing with some outside posts and tougher fields of late. He lands in the basement MADC tonight and should be forwardly placed by Hernandez. (5) BIONIC got hung out to dry last week from an outside post after the leader refused to yield. He’s a big threat tonight if Shults gets the top. (4) FRAZIER HANOVER is also moving down in amateur company and could awaken in this spot for a barn that excels in these races. That said, he hasn’t won often in his career. Race 12: Non-winners $5,000 (NW 2L5 $5,530) in last 5/TM 80.5 (NW L2 84.5) or less/Opt. $20,000 Clm. (1) COOL PAPA BELL very much looked like a horse that needed a race to get tighter as he gapped cover slightly around the final turn. He did finish up the mile in good order while gaining ground late and I’m expecting him to pick up his game this week. (4) INTERVIEW FRA A surprised me by going wire to wire last time. It was probably more surprising that he got away with a relatively easy lead than that he left. Veteran drops in for a tag to stay in the same class and is clearly a threat. (2) SOUTHWIND BANSHEE tried to put the pressure on the top one but just wasn’t fast enough away and wound up parked the mile. Things should be easier from the inside post. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 13: Trackmaster 68 (NW L2 70) or less/NW 1 race life (4) MISS YOU JOANN two-moved in defeat last time at Tioga and prior to that took a bad shuffle and finished up with steady pace. Five-year-old picks up Beckwith and looks like an odds-on winner versus a very suspect bunch. (1) MARE OF THE CITY also got a bad shuffle in that same May 2 race but lacked much in the way of a rally late. She should be sitting close to the action tonight. (6) BRIGHTEN YOUR LIFE also comes out of that same May 2 race and found herself first-over that night. Coming off a scratched-sick line I don’t know what to expect. Race 14: Trackmaster 74.5 (NW L2 76.82) or less/NW $43,000 life - $11,399 Hi-5 Carryover (5) MONEYMAKESHERHAPPY got way over bet in a terrible spot last time. This gal has shown a big turn of speed if you move her at the right time and this short field is right up her alley; adds Lasix. (2) ALMOST KAREN went a tough trip and tired in last. A smoother journey should produce better results. (7) SWEET CAROLINE was in a bit of a tough spot in two Tioga races. She definitely figures here if the top one doesn’t fire or makes a mistake. (3) DUCK INTO THE NITE was third when last in this class; post relief tonight.
