WINTER MEET STATS: 351-89-66-45 / $565.20 (-$136.80) BEST BETS: 25-11-4-3 / $37.00 (-$13.00) SPOT PLAYS: 24-8-7-4 / $61.60 (+$13.60) BEST BET: LYONS LIBERTY (7th) SPOT PLAY: TWO BEAN DREAM (9th) Race 1: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace - Pick 5 (3) FLYING TIGER catches a soft field that seems to lack much early speed. That should have him close enough to the action to perhaps attempt an early move after the dust settles; taking a shot. (1) COUNT MARA is in a prime spot to push away hard and secure a pocket trip. He doesn’t win often so it is hard to like him in the win spot, but an exacta finish at good odds is in the realm of possibility. (6) SEIZE CONTROL is off a good uncovered mile and can win given the right trip. (9) ROCKABILLY CHARM and (10) BARON CHANCEY are potential early speed player and if either horse can make the front easily their chances improve. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: Non-winners $7,500 (NW L2 $8,386) in last 5/TM 83.5 (NW L2 85.5) or less (5) SAMMY JO HANOVER was hounded on the engine last week and went a big mile to be second. She shouldn’t have to do the heavy lifting with other speed to her outside this time around. (7) GIGGLINGONTHEBEACH tired in her qualifier but was also facing superior foes. I expect we’ll see her racing conservatively and that might be the winning trip if all of the potential early speed fires. (8) REMY BROWN N is one of the speedeters and she hasn’t missed the board in some time. (6) JORDANNA HANOVER returns to the scene of her last win. Race 3: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace - Pick 6 (4) MEET THE CREEPER is a horse I rarely back because he is so pace dependent, but there is early zip to his inside and outside tonight to set him up. (9) TARGARYEN EMPRESS closed well from an impossible spot last weekend. She needs pace help and a live flow but is certainly capable. (6) SPIRIT OF TRUTH lands in a softer spot as he reenters the amateur ranks. (5) TRY LINE drops into the amateurs and seems to have found a more comfortable spot. I can see him taking a shot. Race 4: Trackmaster 68 (NW L2/L4/L15 69/70/70.65) or less (4) BEE AWARE has dealt with bad luck all year as she has landed posts 9 and 10 in every one of her four starts. Her last two efforts were better. This looks like the time to activate her early speed. (2) DULCIBELLA was better with Lasix added last Friday. She’s likely to be sent around the #1 early and be in good position. (6) BRIGHTEN YOUR LIFE has displayed some decent miles in this class; threat on best. Race 5: Trackmaster 71 (NW L2 73.10) or less (1) LANDIA seemed to have some late trot a week ago but the video shot was so tight it was impossible to tell. There was a breaking horse in front of her and some tight quarters that couldn’t have helped her chances. Seven-year-old is far from a win machine but seems to land in an ideal spot to shine. (5) LIL’ DAY DRINKIN will certainly be on my Pick 5 ticket. This barn has woken up at least one other horse and the first two starts with a 1-for-48 career driver don’t count. (9) C KAN TROT wasn’t bad in her return from the sidelines. She’s fresh now and might fire off the gate. Race 6: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace - $50K GTD Pick 4 (4) WHAMMER JAMMER was used hard and almost closed the deal when last seen a couple of weeks ago. The better starting slot should allow him to sit just off the pace and hopefully pick up live cover. (1) HASHTAG MONEY went a pretty big mile himself to be second last weekend. You have to assume he’ll be firing out here and that could result in a pocket trip. (8) NATIONAL SPORT missed four weeks and was just even from off the pace in his most recent start. He could be sharper now. (7) MASTER MIKI should be showing early speed and his form is ok; exotics player. Race 7: $7,500-$10,000 Claiming Handicap (8) LYONS LIBERTY moved back into this barn last time and was second behind a horse that has dominated this claiming class. Tonight that foe is nowhere to be found and I expect we’ll see early speed and a strong mile. (5) LEAVE AND ROLL moves inside a bit on the gate and that could make a big difference. (2) THE WILL TO PLAY should push off the gate hard and sit a much better trip than last time. (4) PALOMAR had just one start in six weeks and changes hands as the former connections have clearly had enough. This barn knows the horse and has had past success with him. Race 8: Trackmaster 77.5 (NW L2 79.61) or less - Pick 5 (4) LOVE THIS BAR put in a very nice effort from post 10 in his last start and the road towards the top should be much easier with a couple of potential breakers to his inside. (6) TRILLION TIMES was a first out winner in 2026 for Engblom and if he builds on that performance even a little than this field is in trouble. (5) CUSTOM FIT and (8) SOUTHWIND MAC are both sharp. The latter offers more risk due to a breaking issue and post concerns. Race 9: Trackmaster 71 (NW L2 73.05) or less/Opt. $7,500 Clm. (7) TWO BEAN DREAM could be offering some hidden opportunity for bettors. His two lines this year for the new barn look gross, but the first one came with no qualifier off an 11-week break and in the second start was in a 1:50 mile at Pocono. She actually dropped two seconds off her qualifier in that race and won’t need much of a step forward to win this event. (4) CATCH SOME SUN gets a better post to work with and figures to be firing off the gate for good position. (9) AMAZING WISH has been racing well but is stuck outside; needs a winning steer. Race 10: Trackmaster 74.5 (NW L2 76.50) or less/Opt. $10,000 Clm. - $50K GTD Pick 4 (8) KING OF GREEN may’ve tired late last time but that was after two moves earlier in the mile. Four-year-old seems to be in a good spot to make some noise. (3) KNICKKNACK HANOVER drops back down to the level of her last win two starts back. (2) YOUMEANDWHISKEY has early speed and decent form but lacks a winning desire with just 5 tallies in 91 starts. Race 11: Non-winners $5,000 (NW L2 $5,500) in last 5/TM 80.5 (NW 2L4 84.010) or less (4) TRAVOLTA HANOVER comes off a confidence-building win at Philly. Four-year-old has talent and a good foundation now. I’ll take a shot and hope for the right trip. (9) CALDERONE bumps up for the third straight week as he seeks his four consecutive win; clear contender. (8) CALL OPTION is certainly a big win threat if he decides to behave this week. (6) GERONIMO TRIO IT put in perhaps his best race of the year in defeat last time; another win player. Race 12: Trackmaster 68 (NW L2/L4/L15 69/70/70.65) or less (5) JOB CRUNCH returns here at the TM 68 level where she brushed and won on the engine back in early March. Let’s give her the narrow call to perk up on the class drop. (7) KATIE COTTON was racing great here and laid an egg at Monticello last time. Maybe she prefers the mile track now. (1) WOODMERE LEAH has won two of her three starts this year in this class. (9) OAHU is always a threat at this level but never wins; using underneath. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 13: Non-winners $2,500 (NW L2 $3,185) in last 5/TM 77.5 (NW L2 79.5) or less/Winner TM 74.5 last start (3) COCCO PUFF POWER makes her debut for Engblom off a decent qualifier. Big improvement is expected if she minds her manners. (4) MIZ CAPTAIN CRUZE is getting sharper with each start this year and that form is mostly hidden behind bad finish positions. She can make some noise in this spot if handled more aggressively. (1) GOING AWAY certainly fits in this class given a smooth journey and Herschberger lands here over #4. Race 14: Trackmaster 68 (NW L2/L4/L15 69/70/70.65) or less (1) EA MUSHU tends to get good when she draws inside in this class. (3) SHEISHUNGRY moves into a barn that is having a good meet and couldn’t have asked for a much better spot. (4) MARE OF THE CITY comes off an improved mile. If you can still get 10-1 or higher on her, I’d consider taking a swing.
