MEET STATS: 238-65-45-30 / $380.50 (-$95.50) BEST BETS: 17-8-3-1 / $32.80 (-$1.20) SPOT PLAYS: 17-3-6-2 / $11.20 (-$22.80) BEST BET: LYRICAL GENIUS A (3rd) SPOT PLAY: PRIMO PADRE (9th) Race 1: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace - Pick 5 (5) CLOUDBREAK faces a group without much in the way of early speed and he should have every chance to wire this field. (8) PREMIER JOY A got looped off the gate, parked past the quarter and retreated along the cones. He’s better than that and clearly faces softer this week. (2) HARRY HANOVER was short in his return from a two-plus month vacation. Five-year-old could show more here and is worth considering on your Pick 5 tickets. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace - Survivor 7 (4) TEXAS MIKI should fire to the front in this spot and sit no worse than a pocket trip. (2) ROLLINWITDAPONYZZZ moves to the inside of the gate and he’s clearly sharp enough to win with any reasonable trip. (9) THNDRFRMTHETHRON N is the other logical early speed horse. If only the 2 and 4 leave to his inside, he can definitely threaten for at least an exotic slot. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Meadowlands card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: Non-winners $2,000 (NW L2 $2,335) in last 4 (1) LYRICAL GENIUS A didn’t seem to want an early tuck last week and wound up parked every step while turning in a pretty big mile to be second. His races over this track have been pretty good even when facing better and this field came up very soft. (8) INCREDIBLE BADGER hasn’t won in years but there is no doubt this is a class drop. I prefer him underneath but wouldn’t be shocked by a win. (5) WAR OF WILL was a huge price versus #8 last time and only finished about a length behind him. I can see this guy firing out in this spot. Race 4: Non-winners 2 (NW L2 3) races life/Maidens draw inside - Pick 8 There are some interesting young trotters in this group and there is no saying for sure which of these will pan out. (7) INTERNATIONALCRAZE left strong in his 2024 debut and wound up chasing home a 1-2 favorite willingly. That race gives him a slight conditioning edge on the other top players. (2) WELLINGTON HANOVER and (5) ELISTA HANOVER both qualified very well. The former will probably offer better value and should be sitting closer to the pace while the latter seems likely to get a patiently steer. For what it’s worth, David Miller chose #5. Race 5: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1 Pace (7) WARRAWEE YANKEE took the worst of a first turn incident last week and got carried out wide. He then went first-over and held gamely through the wire. This barn has a good history in the amateur races and I see this one improving with a slightly easier trip. (2) DANDY IDEA also got interfered with early and had too much traffic to menace late in the mile; using. (5) BANK SEA just missed in his last try in the amateur ranks. Race 6: Play Meadowlands NW5000 Final - $50K GTD Pick 4 (3) PAPA DOC has turned it around since dropping in class for this series and this barn in general has been hot lately. He may’ve won last time if moved before (5) BLUEBRID BISHOP, who is also sharp and got the jump on him. (2) LINDYS IRISHCREAM survived an inquiry last time out. He can certainly win here if he stays trotting. Race 7: Trackmaster 74 (NW L2/2L4 74.5/75.10) or less Series (4) THE WILL TO PLAY gets a major shift into the Estrada barn and picks up a Hall of Fame driver. Notice the 1:53 3/5 win over at Mohawk last year that shows he can handle the big track. (2) GOTTA MINUTE N is back in the TM74 class and his races in that condition have been good; expecting some early speed. (3) LACHIE MAGUIRE N has been racing well but is a bit trip dependent. Race 8: Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club 1/2 Pace - Pick 6 This field is loaded with early speed types and things go seriously get wild. (4) SEEUINNASHVILLE A has decent form and consistently comes home nicely; Joe Lee sticks over #2; taking a shot. (2) MONEYMAKEHERSMILE comes off a sharp win but does change barns here. She’s good enough but I’d need 7-2 or higher. (3) FERDINAND A is the speed of the speed. He can go a fast half and still hang on for the exotics. If he gets a pocket trip, watch out, because that is his jam. Race 9: Non-winners $3,000 (NW 2L8 $3,470) in last 4/TM 77 (NW L2/2L4 77.5/78) or less (10) PRIMO PADRE has never been in this cheap at The Meadowlands and the last time he raced a class higher than this the result was a five-length victory. He can overcome the bad post. (2) URNTROUBLE HANOVER also drops but he also gets an interesting trainer change as well; wake-up candidate. (6) JAYPORT ROADRUNNER made a break on a smaller track in his first start for this barn. The hobbles go on here. Do we see more now? (9) MASSIVE MATTER raced against four of these last weekend and he was the only horse moving forward in the stretch. Race 10: Trackmaster 80 (NW L2/2L4 80.5/81) or less - $50K GTD Pick 4 (5) ROSEY TIME beat a similar group last weekend and lands a great post here to work out another winning trip. (10) ERA OF LOVE chased the top pick home willingly last time and might be even sharper now with the start under her belt after a two month break. (4) MILADY DENVER A seems likely to be showing early speed and that should have her sitting in a great spot to succeed. Race 11: Trackmaster 74 (NW L2/2L4 74.5/75) or less (6) SASSENBACH comes in from Freehold where she was racing well. Barn has eight more wins at this meet than the rest of the field combined. (8) WON’T BACK DOWN qualified back sharply. She was racing well in this class back in December. (3) WIGGLING JENNA should be going to the top and could work out a pocket trip behind the top pick. Race 12: Trackmaster 83.7 (NW L2/2L4 84/84.5) or less/NW 4 (NW L2 5) races life (1) KICKUPYAHEELS N was done in by post 10 last out but still raced well in defeat. She moves to the inside of the gate now and seems to have found a brush and crush spot. (5) ANNA’S WISH was only a couple of lengths behind the top pick two starts back. I still think there is more for her to show in the future. (8) MISS LIMELIGHT N raced well in her comeback qualifier and may just be live at first asking in 2024. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 13: Non-winners $3,000 (NW 2L8 $3,470) in last 4/TM 77 (NW L2/2L4 77.5/78) or less (6) GOTWUTEVERITTAKES didn’t look great last time but he was on the rim for the majority of the mile. I like that trainer Ricky Bucci is spacing out his races now and wouldn’t be shocked if we saw him fire off the gate versus a very weak field. (1) FASHION CANTAB missed a start due to sickness but his prior form is certainly the best in the field. (8) STAR TRACK HANOVER has the early speed to overcome the bad post, though I prefer using him underneath as he shows only 1 win along with 16 placings from 26 starts in 2023. Race 14: Trackmaster 71 (NW L2/2L4 71.5/72.18) or less (8) SHORE OF HIMSELF had to abort a leave attempt and basically raced on the rim near the back the rest of the mile with no big rally. That was his first start in five weeks and I’d expect a better mile here, and potentially more early speed. (9) MARVALOUS ONE was used hard to the front and that sapped his energy for late in the mile. While he hasn’t won in years, he’s a contender, which tells you about the form of this field. (6) FLYING TIGER kept up in a fast mile while making his first start since last September. I have mixed feelings here because he’s still winless in his career and the trainer is driving.
