Meadowlands logo (new)

FALL MEET STATS: 76-17-16-13 / $111.00 (-$42.00)

BEST BETS: 6-5-0-0 / $32.20 (+20.20)

SPOT PLAYS: 6-0-1-2 / $0.00 (-$12.00)

BETS BET: COUSIN MARY (9th)

SPOT PLAY: ITS JUST TOO MUCH (2nd)

Race 1: GSY 1 Pace - Pick 5

Tough race to resume the meet here as we have no idea of the skill level of the British drivers. It may be worth watching the fifth and seventh races at Monticello on Thursday to see them in action. (2) THNDRFRMTHETHRON N rallied well last time and is comfortable on the big track. (3) GENTLEMENSATTITUDE also comes to town sharp and wasn't awful in his last stint here. (9) PAN STREET USA seems to be working his way back into shape after four months on the sidelines.

Race 2: TM 74 (NW L3/5 74.5/75) or less series

(9) ITS JUST TOO MUCH moves into a barn that can move one up in a hurry in their first starts. Against a blank field, despite the bad draw, he seems worth a shot. (3) FINAL JUSTICE looks pretty bad on paper but has been stuck with outside posts on a half-mile track. (1) PHILOSOPHIZER gets a barn change and class relief; using.

Race 3: GSY 1 Pace - Survivor 7

(9) SCRAPPIN GOLD was an easy winner in this class three starts back. The main question is the ability of the driver, so watch race 1 and see how he looks on #3. (5) VASARI N has been facing tough foes at Philly. (4) DEERFIELD BEACH has been stuck in outside posts at Freehold in his last two. His prior form over this surface was solid.

Race 4: TM 74 (NW L3/5 74.5/75) or less series

(5) MAKE IT BIG sheds the trainer from the bike in favor of a pretty good amateur driver and he actually has a win over the track this year. (4) WHIMSICAL JOURNEY only has one career start on a big track and it resulted in a nice win. (9) CHIEF OF STAFF also gets a nice drier change. He was facing better foes out of town.

Race 5: Non-winners $3,000 in last 5/TM 76.5 (NW L3/5 77/77.5) or less

(8) TONY'S MOM has the early speed to make the top and crossed the wire first the only time she was on a bigger track this year. (1) TIGERS WATCHING N has looked like a new horse since switching barns. (3) ONE MORE TRY was racing very well when last seen. If the four week break isn't a factor he should be involved. (9) LITTLE HONEYBADGER woke up in her first start for Estrada. (10) WESTERN SHOWGIRL has won three of four but is stuck in post 10.

Race 6: Non-winners $5,000 (NW L3 $5,500) in last 5/TM 80.2 or less - $50K GTD Pick 4

(9) CUPID HANOVER has his work cut out for him from post 9, but his times stack up nicely and these connections do a good job with trotters. (2) AMADOR has been dropping in class in search of form and may have finally found it last time. (1) MUSKINGUM comes to town with plenty of form and in fact finished a game uncovered second on Wednesday at Monticello. (8) DONATO PATRIOT K could be worth a look on the trainer change if they dont overbet him.

Race 7: TM 77 (NW L3/2L5 77.5/78.97) or less series

(1) TEXAS TERROR N returns to The Meadowlands for the first time in five years and for what it's worth, he won that race. 14-year-old has good form and should stay close from pylon position. (3) R CAPTAIN HANOVER was climbing the ladder nicely before catching a tougher group last time. While only sixth, the effort wasn't bad. (2) LENDA HAND MAN has proven capable on multiple occasions for a high percentage barn.

Race 8: TM 74 (NW L3/5 74.5/75) or less series - Pick 6

(2) INSTANTANEOUS has been racing well and should work out a nice trip from the inside post. (9) ARI ALLSTAR turned into a new horse after the trainer change; post is the main issue. (4) FERDINAND A has good early speed and rarely misses a board spot. Even with an amateur in the bike he can get a good piece.

Race 9: Non-winners $7,500 in last 5/TM 82 (NW L3/5 82.5/83.06) or less

(7) COUSIN MARY is the class of this race and if she brings her "A" game she'll win. Veteran mare has just enough early speed to get in play from the outside post. (4) SO IRRESISTIBLE drops down the ladder and has early speed as well, but she could break at any moment. (6) UPTOWN LADY N got a useful tightener at Plainridge. Her best is definitely good enough.

Race 10: Non-winners $10,500 in last 5/TM 86.5 (NW L3/5 87/87.5) or less - $50K GTD Pick 4

(9) IMAGINARY LINE went off at 2-5 and couldn't deliver versus the highest-class field any of these faced last out. He aborted a brush to the front after yielding to a longshot and got shuffled out; Bongiorno takes the lines tonight. (1) SAYING GRACE N comes in with good form and should be handled aggressively. (5) HUGHIE JUNIOR N finished well ahead of the top pick last time and is certainly a contender here. (7) ON ACCIDENT has spectacular form. How will that transfer to the big track?

Race 11: Non-winners $7,500 (NW L3 $8,250) in last 5 or $1,500 p.s. last 8/TM 82 (NW L4 83) or less

(1) FIX-IT-UP qualified back nicely while showing no signs of the breaking issues that plagued him a month ago. Notice that he won in this class early in September. (7) PAPPY GO GO picked up his game in start two back in the Harris barn; classy veteran can win. (9) SPEED AWAY hasn't done much lately but he's capable of surprising with a clean trip to the front. (2) TOCCOA FALLS drops down but hasn't started in six weeks.

Race 12: Non-winners $3,000 (NW L3 $3,300) in last 5

(6) BETTER THAN SOME could offer some value in this field due to questionable recent form, but he's clearly down in class and eligible to show more in his third start off the bench. (5) GOOD ROCKIN is also down in company tonight and has won here in the past. (2) NO BETTER JOY might pick up his game on the switch to the mile oval.

Race 13: Non-winners $3,000 in last 4/TM 76.5 or less

(4) LAWS OF MOTION and (3) TROYCEN are two horses with breaking issues that could step up moving to the kinder two-turn track here. (8) ZLATAN tends to wake up in cheap spots like this one and certainly can win. (1) ROMANTIC WARRIOR certainly seems like a player but I'm not sure a short price is warranted; demand value.

Race 14: TM 77 (NW L3/2L5 77.5/78.97) or less series

(1) FOX VALLEY CARLIN wasn't bad from a tough post in his first start for this barn. Three-year-old had missed four weeks prior to that start and should show more now. (9) RANCOUSY has done his best work near the front and seeing as this is a preliminary leg for a final, I'd expect Callahan to send him. (7) SUNSHINE’S FINEST is an obvious horse on the driver change angle. That said, he's been in this class with a catch-driver in the past and hasn't delivered. (2) INCREDIBLE BADGER should be closer to the action this week.
