Meadowlands: Agent Q dominant from first-over again in Mistletoe Shalee

Derick Giwner Agent Q remained in charge of the 3-year-old pacing filly group after her Mistletoe Shalee victory

Just like she did in the James Lynch final at Pocono two weeks ago, Agent Q turned in a tour de force performance from first-over to capture the $165,700 Mistletoe Shalee for 3-year-old pacing fillies at the Meadowlands. The time of 1:48 4/5 matched the track record set by Dancinwiththestarz in the 2010 edition of the same event.

Brazuca (Corey Callahan) would do most of the pace-making in the race as she took command from Big City Betty (Brett Miller) before the 26 4/5 first quarter while Agent Q (David Miller) settled into the fourth spot after leaving for position from post six. Brazuca would go on to reach the half in 54 3/5, with Agent Q commencing her bid at that point.

Agent Q gained ground on the rim around the far turn and to the 1:21 4/5 three-quarters before overhauling Brazuca for good early in the lane. Idyllic Beach (Yannick Gingras) tracked Agent Q from second-over and looked to catch Agent Q in the stretch, but it was to no avail as Agent Q thundered away to score by about three lengths. Idyllic Beach did wind up second, with third going to Awash (Scott Zeron).

"I didn't mind going first-over, David Miller said. "If I two-moved her we'd have to be down to the half in 53. "She was very good tonight as good as the Lynch."

The victorious filly by Western Terror is trained by Chris Ryder for owners Martin Scharf, Rochetti Cassar Racing, and Robert Muscara. Agent Q made her eighth winner's circle appearance in her life, and she has now put away $819,485. She paid $2.60 to win as the 1-5 betting favorite.

"The last few weeks she's been unbelievable," said winning co-owner Bill Rochetti. "It's just so fun to watch."
