McPeek sophomores not sure things for Breeders' Cup

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Kenny McPeek did not catch a case of Breeders’ Cup fever with the 2-year-old stakes horses he ran Friday and Saturday at Keeneland.
V V’s Dream ran the best of them, finishing a good second on Friday in the Grade 1 Alcibiades Stakes, and even she is no sure thing for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies.
“We’re undecided right now. We’ll take a look at things over the next couple weeks and see where we’re at,” McPeek said Sunday.

V V’s Dream romped in the Pocahontas, a one-turn Churchill Downs mile, and appeared to be on the way to victory in the two-turn Alcibiades before Candied ran her down in the homestretch. V V’s Dream got an 84 Beyer Speed Figure, down from her 88 last time. If V V’s Dream doesn’t go to the Breeders’ Cup, she could start Oct. 29 in the Rags to Riches as a prep for the Golden Rod about a month later. Both those races are at Churchill, where V V’s Dream is 2-2.
Shimmering Allure was fourth, beaten a neck for third but about six lengths behind V V’s Dream, in the Alcibiades. She could show up in a first-level allowance race, McPeek said.
Generous Tipper came from last to finish third on Saturday in the Breeders’ Futurity, a solid performance off a maiden win, but neither he nor Northern Flame, a 49-1 shot who was fourth, a neck behind Generous Tipper, are candidates for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, said McPeek, who will aim for races in Kentucky.
“Those two work together, and I guess they thought they were supposed to finish together yesterday,” said McPeek.
