McGee: Keeneland pick four play for Sunday, April 12
I’m going to rely on Jimmy Toner taking advantage of RECEPTA still being eligible for a 2x condition when the filly returns from a layoff in the Sunday finale (R9). Her early performances were enough for her to be tried in Grade 1 company a couple of times before she was sidelined following the Belmont Oaks. She left out of Palm Meadows this week with a bullet work, her eighth in a series that began in mid-February. John Velazquez has the mount.
I’ll trust her to end the Sunday pick-4 that starts with R6. (Feel free, by the way, to lengthen this play to a pick-5 or pick-6 or to shorten up to a pick-3 or double.) Here’s the ticket:
R6 – 4, 7 (both had useful debuts)
R7 – 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11 (way-wide open, hope to catch a price)
R8 – 1, 2, 6, 7 (Beaumont logicals)
R9 – 6 (Recepta)
50-cent ticket = $24
