McGee: Gulfstream pick three for Saturday, Jan. 9

In attempting to leverage something much better out of MAJESTO (No. 6) than his 3-1 morning-line price in race 8 at Gulfstream, I will try to get alive to him in the pick three after picking and choosing from the two preceding races.

In race 6, which is scheduled to be run with a field of 14, I’ll use some of the main contenders while throwing in some bombs.

In race 7, I’ll take the chance that Mshawish won’t be as effective on dirt as he is on turf, and play the other two obvious contenders, MATROOH (1) and VALID (4).

As for Majesto, he’s all set to knock out his maiden condition with Irad Ortiz Jr. aboard following a very strong runner-up effort on Dec. 12.
