McGee: Gulfstream pick four play for Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019

The late multi-race wagers Saturday at Gulfstream look pretty difficult, although the featured Royal Delta seems to set up fairly predictably: Blamed getting a free run, with Tequilita trying to reel her in. I’ll use just those two and will try to catch a price in the other legs of the late pick four. Here’s the play:

Race 9: There’s a 4-1 morning-line favorite in a field of 14, which speaks volumes to how deep this two-other-than allowance shapes up. I’ll try to get alive by using two of the more logical plays, Notapradaprice (8) and Samuna (11) while also trying to sneak in one of the longshots, Smart Shot (1) and Sometimesadiamond (2).

Race 10: It’s become nearly impossible to go against anything sent out by Jason Servis, who’s winning in the 50 percent neighborhood, so Samara (1) is a must-use here. Price-wise, Okinawa (5) and Factorofwon (8) are the preferred alternatives.

Race 11: You’ve got to think Blamed (7) will have a less hurried trip from her outside box than when she set the pace in the Hurricane Bertie, and the addition of the red-hot Irad Ortiz Jr. can’t hurt. Tequilita (1) loves Gulfstream and will be there if Blamed doesn’t rebound.

Race 12: Covering lots of bases in this wide-open finale with Bay Bridge (1), Threeohtwocassie (2), Macagone (6), Franklin Towers (7), and Cut to Order (11).
