McGee: Delaware Park pick three play for Saturday, July 14, 2018
This pick three in the heart of the card will rely on Unbridled Mo to come through in the track’s showcase event, the 81st Delaware Handicap (Race 9), and using a number of longer prices in the preceding races. Here’s the play:
Race 7: Stallwalkin’ Dude (7), an earner of nearly $1.7 million, is the obvious class of this ungraded sprint stakes and is a deserving lukewarm morning-line choice. He is likely to benefit from his June 22 comeback. Still, this looks wide open, and I’ll also use Blue Y Gold (1), It’s the Journey (8), Chublicious (9), and Rockinn On Bye (10).

Race 8: Purposely working around M/L favorite Untamed Domain (5), who’s had a hard time finding the winner’s circle, I’ll surround the top slot by using a quartet of viable contenders in the Kent Stakes: Hot Springs (2), Duc de Calas (3), Gunnison (4), and Way Early (9). Blame the Rider (8) is a likely scratch.
Race 9: With all the Loooch speed in the Del Cap, this 10-furlong race could have a swift pace, which might well favor the tactics of Unbridled Mo (5), already a Grade 1 winner this year for Todd Pletcher & Co. After facing arguably the top two fillies and mares in the land (Unique Bella and Abel Tasman) in her last two races, she should be very tough stretching out from the one-turn Ogden Phipps. Clearly, Elate (6) is the one to beat, but with her returning from an eight-month layoff, this is an opportune time for Unbridled Mo to maximize her recency.
Here’s the straight-A ticket:
R7: 1, 7, 8, 9, 10
R8: 2, 3, 4, 9
R9: 5
$1 ticket = $20
