Ce Ce won the Beholder Mile in February at Santa Anita and Apple Blossom in April at Oaklawn Park prior to finishing fifth in the BC Distaff. Speech won the Ashland in June at Keeneland, and finished sixth in the BC Filly and Mare Sprint. Rushie, winner of the Pat Day Mile, finished seventh in the BC Dirt Mile.
“Speech, Ce Ce and Rushie all stay in training; they’re coming back Jan. 1,” McCarthy said.
Independence Hall is on target for the Grade 1 Malibu, typically run opening day of the Santa Anita winter meet. McCarthy-trained Stellar Sound was entered for the Grade 3 Native Diver, to be run Saturday at Del Mar.
