Maythefourthbwithu returns in Friday feature after brief freshening

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The five-furlong specialist Maythefourthbwithu returns from a short break in Friday’s Woodbine headliner, a first-level allowance, with leading rider Patrick Husbands up, to head the eight-horse field.
Maythefourthbwithu has won 3 of 7 outings at the meet for trainer Bob Tiller. The daughter of Silent Name cleared the first two Ontario-sired allowance conditions in the spring and early summer while ridden by Luis Contreras.
Husbands rode her during a runner-up finish in an open allowance Aug. 2, when she was subjected to some herding. She beat $50,000 claiming 3-year-old fillies under Husbands on Sept. 5, while earning her second consecutive Beyer Speed Figure of 74, which is the Beyer par for Friday’s classification.
Maythefourthbwithu tried to rally from farther back than usual on the outside in an Oct. 11 allowance, in which she wound up a nonthreatening fourth.
Seven other fillies and mares were entered in the five-furlong feature, which is one of four allowance races on the nine-race card.
KEY CONTENDERS
Maythefourthbwithu (Last 3 Beyers: 69-74-74)
◗ Tiller has worked her twice since her last start, including five-eighths in 1:00.60 on Oct. 31, which was the fourth fastest of 30 drills at the distance.
DRF FORMULATOR FACT: Over the past two years, Tiller has won at a healthy 28 percent clip when using Husbands, with a return on investment of $2.30.
Erma Lee (Last 3 Beyers: 55-75-39)
◗ She finished in front of Maythefourthbwithu when second behind a sharp Bear’s Pearl on Oct. 11. Bear’s Pearl returned to finish second in a second-level optional claimer. One can excuse her Nov. 9 subpar showing against males in a $12,500 starter allowance, from which the trailing Tevez exited to land a $16,000 claimer with a 69 Beyer.
◗ She has finished second a whopping 14 times in her 41 starts, and is winless in seven appearances this year, so it’s not hard to figure out where to use her in the exotics.
Marcian (Last 3 Beyers: 66-52-65)
◗ She rallied from off sizzling fractions to beat $20,000 claimers on Nov. 12. Her trainer, Don MacRae, possesses excellent numbers with horses coming off a victory.
◗ Emma-Jayne Wilson inherits the mount from her regular rider, Eurico Da Silva, who is away this week to ride Up With the Birds in the Japan Cup.
Simple as That (Last 3 Beyers: 64-69-57)
◗ She captured her last two starts in low-level claiming company, overcoming a speed bias in one of those outings.
DRF FORMULATOR FACT: Over the past five years, Simple as That’s new trainer, Dorothy Gentner, is 0 for 13 first time off the claim.
