The highly impressive maiden race winner Maymun will have his first start around two turns in an allowance race for 3-year-olds at a mile on Sunday at Santa Anita. Trained by Bob Baffert for Amr Zedan, Maymun won his debut in an emphatic style on Jan. 20, leading throughout a race at 6 1/2 furlongs. Maymun pulled clear to win by 7 1/2 lengths, finishing in 1:15.59. He earned a robust Beyer Speed Figure of 93. Jockey Juan Hernandez rode Maymun that day and has the mount Sunday in the sixth race on a nine-race program that begins at 11 a.m. Pacific to allow completion of the card before kickoff of the Super Bowl at 3:30 p.m. Maymun, by Frosted, is part of a field of six. He was the 9-10 favorite when he beat maidens and will be an odds-on choice again Sunday. A win on Sunday is likely to propel Maymun into a major stakes for 3-year-olds in coming weeks. :: Bet the races with a $200 First Deposit Match + FREE All Access PPs! Join DRF Bets.
